Let's Actually Play Minecraft Again: The Conqueror of Worlds

Welcome back to Minecraft. It's time to fight The End. It's time to fight The Nether. It's time to fight The Deep Dark. And Happy Birthday to me
Watch my entire Minecraft Let's Play series in order here: • RTGame Minecraft Let's...
I've enjoyed every moment of this Minecraft Let's Play, and falling in love with the game again has been one of my favourite things I've ever streamed. The next highlights video will be the final one for this series. I've a few more things I want to do and finish, and then I'm happy to leave the game where it is. It's been such a joy to rediscover, and I feel like I've had a once in a life time experience rediscovering 10 years of a game like this. It will take a little while longer for the final part to release, as there's some other games I want to play too the next while. But I hope everyone is enjoying the series, and looking forward to the finale. Thanks as ever for the support!

Frank and Gerald are the most tragic characters in this series. Some guy came to their village, stole from their houses, they tried sleeping in their own beds but were put in a hole in the ground for months. The guy comes back after who knows how long and they hope that he finishes the job, but instead he throws a table down and commands them to change profession and trade, despite the fact that they can't use the emeralds to buy anything. Later still, the same guy comes and summons a raiding party which kills half the village. Then he comes back, summons yet another raiding party, and a demon from another dimension which kills the other half of the village. Houses are exploding, the man is screaming, and they think this is it, they're finally free from sitting in this hole, but by some twist of fate the hole that imprisons them ensures they are the only survivors of the village. They'll never die, never feel the breeze on their face, never see another villager again, and all that remains of their culture is two men in holes in the ground surrounded by ruins.

As a long time mod maker and code digger, here's what happened at 57:43: Dan swaps from his pick to the sword and accidentally drops it in the same game tick. The pickaxe is the item that drops, but due to the hotbar swap happening at the exact same time, his client side inventory gets desynced from the server side inventory (because singleplayer still runs on a local server, which is why you can seamlessly open a singleplayer world to LAN). As a result of the desync, the pickaxe is actually gone, but it appears as if the sword is gone. Dan tries mining blocks, but the local server doesn't recognize the blocks being broken at pickaxe speed, because on the server side, he's holding nothing. Reloading the world corrects the client side inventory desync and reveals that the pickaxe is actually gone. There are a few other clues about what actually happens if you look closely. For example, right after dropping his "sword", when Dan punches the creeper with his seemingly empty first slot, it still makes a sweeping attack. Anyways, this is why I have my drop item bound to V, because I've done my fair share of accidentally dropping items in the past, lol. That's rough though.

Obviously RT should play the game how he wants, but it kind of annoys me that he did not bring any wood at all during that trip. He could've easily made another pickaxe and kept on mining if he brought wood with him.
I'm amazed that RT beat the Warden given the devs wanted to make it akin to a "force of nature" rather than a boss. It's supposed to keep you on your toes as a direct inherent danger of not being stealthy enough in the Deep Dark. RT punched the embodiment of a tornado to death. Astonishing.
@CathrineMacNiel

And all he got was a Sculk Catalyst :D
@StarClan4evr
Ай бұрын
@@CathrineMacNiel The dev behind Wardens was very adamant that they shouldn't have a drop at all, because that would encourage players to fight them. Which was counter to the point of them being a force of nature, rather than a boss. Eventually was convinced to allow them to drop Skulk Catalysts because then the block is technically farmable for tech players, while still being an non-optimal bad "reward" for common players who could get that block much much easier elsewhere. I still agree with the dev's original intentions and think they shouldn't drop anything at all, after all, why would a tornado you're supposed to flee from have a reward for "defeating" the tornado, but at least this way it still discourages the player from fighting them. Perhaps the darkness effect from the Shriekers should have just had a near-instant death wither-like effect on the player instead of having a new entity in the first place if they wanted to go for an unavoidable force of nature type obstacle (since a player going through blind like RT is gonna think it's a boss or an endgame objective to conquer), but I guess that would almost be more annoying than avoiding the Warden for an unprepared/blind player, or more easy to deal with given how easy it is to break Shriekers if you know what you're doing. The dev's quote on the matter of Wardens not being bosses always makes me appreciate what was attempted here, nonetheless: "when a tornado is barreling towards you, you don't try to kill it, you run away!"
@noahbohl2127
Ай бұрын
@@StarClan4evrI think having the shriekers being near instant death wouldn’t be fun or engaging for new players. It wouldn’t be engaging at all. I think the biggest problem with the deep dark is that there’s just not much to do with it. It would be cool if there was something else to engage with there, but instead all they have is the warden. So if the warden is going to be all that’s there then there should be a drop for it.
@StarClan4evr
Ай бұрын
@@noahbohl2127 Agreed, there's almost nothing of value to really engage with, even at the cities. Echo Shards are practically useless if you can remember where you died, swift sneak is only really applicable in the Deep Dark to begin with, and the music disk fragments are disappointing rewards to say the least. I could say the same about most loot you get out of archeology in general as well, but at least that gives you new decor just for the sake of having new decor. There's much better ways to get diamonds and good gear, especially through villagers. So when the best loot that comes out of an Ancient City is armor, it just feels like there's no reason to venture into them. Raids get you totems, and traversing the End Cities gets you elytra and Shulker Shells. Even the Nether still serves a purpose late game for Beacons and Netherite. The Deep Dark just doesn't really have a core "you go here to stock up on this" piece of kit yet. I hope they expand on it, because aesthetically it's probably still the most interesting biome they've made.

I think what makes this series so amazing is that Dan 'knows' Minecraft. He's got the basics down so it's not like we're having to watch him fumble from scratch. It's just the odd mishap (creeper griefing) or occasional new mechanic (that goat) that throws him for a bit. But at the same time, he doesn't KNOW any of the new mechanics or biomes or mobs or whatever, plus he's got the spirit of adventure (if not, admittedly, archeology), so he's excited to go out and find stuff.

Yup. He's not in complete darkness. For me, watching let's play of people who just discovered Minecraft for the first time or been playing for a long time and know everything about the game is just getting old. The fact that he's in the middle is what makes it fun. He knows some of the old stuff about the game so he doesn't need an introduction to the game and at the same time he's discovering a lot of new stuff. But since he already has the skill, it doesn't take him too long to learn all the new stuff. It's like reuniting with an old friend. You know that it's him, your old buddy, but now he's much older and has new things that he didn't have while he was younger and so you want to know all the new things about him. It's great.
i only have ONE SINGLE REQUEST for the finale: *please rebuild the village.* THINK ABOUT THE NARRATIVE CATHARSIS OF IT ALL. you started near the village with nothing but the shirt on your back. the villagers welcomed you with open arms, giving life to the worst biome, ensuring you weren't alone at the start. throughout the playthrough, you always returned to your first home. you brought destruction in many forms, but you always returned. the arrows in your quiver were theirs. the bed on your first night was theirs. your first raid ever was with them. you fought the Wither for the first time with them. Frank and Gerald, if given copious amounts of bread loaves in a fixed village, can have children and repopulate (no, really. this is an in-game mechanic to breed villagers. they just need beds and breakfast). they can recreate life in the ashes of the home that they loved, that loved you. they can farm and make their noises and exist in the world alongside you. please rebuild the village.

Honestly I hope mc players take this series as a hint that maybe you don't gotta worry about making giant farms to play the game for you, at it's core minecraft is a game about creativity and exploration, making your own story in your world Sure the pieces are there for you to turn the game into satisfactory, but everyone I know who plays the game like that doesn't even last a week before they're bored cos they build farms just for the sake of having 17000 gold, it's one thing to make farms for a different end goal (like hermitcraft for example, so many farms on that server yet they ultimately serve a separate purpose than "I need this") idk, something about the way dan plays minecraft feels so right and I think it'd do people some good to stop worrying about the 'meta' of the game or what other people are building and just relax

Warden drops skulk catalysts for two reasons Technical reason: Warden isn't supposed to be killed but you can kill it anyway since it's minecraft and if you can make a machine that builds a submerged lava bridge you probably can kill a mob (warden isn't even considered a boss even though the elder guardian is) Lore Reason: Skulk is an organism, skulk catalyst is the start of a life cycle, with more xp it spreads and creates sensors, skulk catalysts and shriekers that summon the warden, the warden drops the skulk catalyst that's gonna be placed somewhere else and the cycle repeats.
I’m both surprised and unsurprised that RT managed to defeat the Wither and Warden in ways that virtually no else could have foreseen But I think that’s kind of RT in a nutshell: doing things the last way you’d expect them to be done, and still succeeding

I think more people should try building in Dan's methods. No grinding, just build with what you have, no blueprints or tutorials, just be as creative as you can get and stick to your theme. It feels like such a good time as well, like when exploring you find come across a cool block, and so many ideas flow into your mind for what you can use it for in a build.

Fighting the wither during a raid somehow sounds like the smartest and the dumbest idea simultaneously
Dan’s fight with the Wither reminded me of the last time I fought the Wither, which was in a multiplayer server with about 7 other dudes where we all got together to destroy the wither. I grinded about 2 hours for Wither Skeleton skulls for that event. It turns out that I vastly underestimated how powerful wither is as a potion effect, as was many of my friends. I got decimated along with my friends, and what followed was a 1 hour comedy show of a bunch of poor suffering gamers trying their very best with literally nothing to kill a wither that was constantly beating our ass. So I’d like to commend Dan on doing what it took 7 slightly overconfident dudes about an hour to so.

I like how Dan plays the game how mojang designed it as a adventure he doesn't make massive farms or plots out the most efficient methods. he makes "friends" with the villagers, he builds stuff with lore behind it, he goes on flawed adventures to defeat terrors, he treats the trail ruins as actual archeology dig sites and realistically desicrates them. A unique minecraft playthrough to say the least.

Dan, you SHOULD look at the achievement menu. It’s meant to act as a guide for things you can do in the game.
I don't typically comment on videos like this, but I have to say this has been one of the most comforting series of Minecraft I've ever seen. I remember someone from a previous episode mentioned that a lot of Minecraft content has devolved into challenges, big idea type things. Which isn't inherently bad, but feels like it can sometimes lessen the essence of the intent of the game: To enjoy it how YOU want to enjoy it, rather than following how others think it should be played. With that being said, this series has inspired me greatly, perhaps I will finally return to playing Minecraft for myself after so many years. Thank you RT for this gem of a series!
I love how organic this is. No goal, no rules, just a man rediscovering a game he used to enjoy. I think that's why we all love it so much.

The biggest flex would be to make your main base in the deep dark.
Most people would tackle securing the ancient city in a quiet manner, then there's Dans full scale invasion
44:48 "No the fruit snacks!" has the same energy as "Aw my bread sticks!" from Super Best Friends Play.
Can I just say, I appreciate the chapters, without it, an hour 40 minute video seems scary, but the chapters make it digestible
Dan just proved why I always take a stack of wood on my depths adventures
RT do you realize by leaving the Warden slaying golem in a green ancient city with a portal to an unknown dimension you have basically created the Doom Slayer.
I love this series sooooo much. Also, you playing 13 at the beginning and instantly stopping it reminded me of the C418 track _Eleven_ . Not _11_ , _Eleven_ . For those who don’t know, _Eleven_ is an OST-Exclusive track made by C418 back before he quit working on Minecraft¹ that is a very nice, simple track designed to either prank people who bought the OST by being a different track or because he didn’t want to spook people (Although there is no _Thirteen_ , it’s just _13_ , so he clearly didn’t care THAT much) ¹ He quit because Notch couldn’t afford to pay C418 to make the music back in the day so instead he licensed it and when Microsoft bought out Mojang they tried to claim that since Notch had licensed the music that meant they now owned it
@kerenb14

Oh. Then he got me good. Fair play to you C418.
Honestly watching this entire series has just felt nostalgic looking at it all, from the coziness of building a nice few fantasy looking structures, the exploring and adventuring around the world, and the just absolute comfort of just admiring the sites To the absolute insanity of math and circles, the yearning for the mines, the creeper (tm), and the treasure being real. Maybe the real minecraft diamonds are friends and memories we made along the way.
I'm so sad to know that this series is nearly over. The RT Minecraft streams have genuinely been the highlights of my week, every week. I hope he continues to play and enjoy in his own time, as there is still so much more to discover. That being said, of course I understand all good things come to an end, and a variety streamer doesn't want to focus on one game forever. I love RT's other content too and am also excited for whatever's next. Thanks for a wonderful time with Minecraft, Mr RT
as a designer, i really appreciate the choice not to give the warden a boss health bar. it really reinforces that its not supposed to be fought and killed, but avoided and fled from.
im just so incredibly grateful for this series' existence. In a time where minecraft content became this soulless repetitive slop of 100 days and manhunts, seeing minecraft played as it was... Recent youtube enjoyer, first time commenter here. Wanted to say I have been loving your minecraft content, It’s been a long time since I have laughed-out-loud from a youtube video. I think you play minecraft how it is intended to be played, and I wish mojang could see your videos to see how a “new” or long-time returning player interacts with the new features through experementation. You arent an expert in everything, and thats what makes these videos so fun to watch - watching you discover and learn it what makes these videos unique. A lot of youtubers I’ve seen recently always seem to feel the need to be the best at everything, which makes it hard to play minecraft - since if you are not as good at it as them you feel defeated. Seeing a player with average skill level having fun makes me want to get back into the game, and it reminds me of old minecraft.
It's like a whole different experience seeing the streams and then seeing how they've been transformed for the episodes
Who else thinks the way Dan is playing this game feels like the definitive way to play? The humble creativity, the exciting adventure, and the crazy and sometimes humorous discoveries. I think Dan plays Minecraft the way Mojang imagines it could be played. Truely spectacular Dan! Keep having fun for our sake!
The warden chase was so cool, really goes to show how threatening they can be if you're not sneaking around them and trying to face them head head on
This series has made me appreciate rtgame's personality and style even more than I have before, this kind of minecraft let's play is always the most interesting.
"When we return, the world will be safe again." That sentence goes hard.
Dan, if you put the beacon underwater in the basement, it'll shine up through the water into the sky.
this has legitimately been my favorite series on youtube in recent memory. every time Dan finds something cool and interesting seeing his reaction makes me feel warm inside and smile. thank you for this
7:40 I was expecting Country Roads, so what we got might as well be a Rickroll. Though I guess 33:22 could count 37:23 Learning it from Story Mode is one thing, but shoutout to the paintings. When you put down a painting it's randomized, but one of them shows you how to summon a Wither, and I always thought that was pretty cool! I don't know if this counts as a spoiler, but pro tip! You can duplicate your armor trims! So long as you have one copy, 7 diamonds, and a material that varies by trim you can sketch a new copy and make as many as you want. If there's a pattern you really like and you don't want to feel like you're wasting it or have more things you want to put it on it's smart to keep at least one copy in the chest to duplicate later. I saw the length of the chapters but didn't look at the titles so the Aether bit sent me That glitch threw me from the very start. It looked like a pick was thrown on the ground, but RT didn't have two picks on his hotbar the previous scene and commented about missing his sword. Went back and, sure enough, he pressed q on a sword and a pickaxe fell on the ground. Must've scrolled over to his pick the same frame he pressed it or something. 1:01:33 HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAN!!! Yeah the Warden only drops a single Skulk Catalyst. The reason being, you're not supposed to kill him. You *can* but you're not supposed to. The story behind that's actually kinda cool. Fans had been begging Mojang to add shit like tornados and hurricanes to the game for ages. But they didn't want to add any natural disasters because one of their game design philosophies is that anything bad that happens should be the player's fault, not up to random chance. Their solution? Turn the tornado into a monster you have to fuck up to meet.
This series has to be the best Minecraft series around. The memories of old Minecraft keeping Dan going without confusion, while keeping the sense of discovery of finding out everything new by himself, experimenting and coming across information so many others just know. Going back to Minecraft story mode to remember how to build the Wither has to be the wildest thing ever and the most fun way of getting the information needed. On top of that Dan keeps wanting to do things out of a pure feeling and not because chat goes around telling him what's next. This series sparks the joy of the first times I played this game, a wholesome feeling of wonder and a satisfied lust for discovery. Best part is that he does what he wants, and he does them well! The builds are nice, the plans are moderately solid... there is a sense that you don't see in playthroughs where people play this for the first rime. And the world has been so incredibly kind, too. The structures, the generation, showcasing new things so perfectly, down to the goat throwing him off the mountain. Thank you RT, honestly. I am incredibly happy with every new episode.

RT finds a mob specifically designed to be impossible to fight (huge damage through walls with perfect accuracy at huge range), manages to beat it anyway in the most stubborn way possible. I love it
Fun Fact, if you press Q you will drop an item in your hand. Also, Looks like you actually did throw your pick, well switching to your sword (yes, despite being single player, the game runs single player worlds with clinet side and server side set up, server is local though, but this is likely where the bug came from. Apologies if that isn't a good explanation, I make monsters, not code games)
