You're a breath of fresh air Wendy. So real and relatable. Thanks for great content. I sometimes feel weird because I love being alone and don't do social situations well. I love the people I have in my life. My family and my husband and the few quality friends I have. I love being in my own space and feel drained if I'm around people. I care about others but I have to work hard to keep my mental and emotional well being in a good place. And playing with my art supplies is my happy place. I love trees and thrift shops and audio books and getting new art supplies. I live a simple life and it suits me real fine. It's nice to hear that there are other people like me.

I sure dont think we are misfits anymore or less than any other. Life is a series of 1500 piece jigsaw puzzles and each of us a piece. None of us when placed with the other properly surrounding pieces is a misfit we are a perfect fit. When situations drain us we are not a misfit, we are simply not adjacent to our proper pieces.

💜💜💜 I’ve been contemplating since your last video on feeling like a misfit. I am 67 years old and I can say I’ve never really felt like that but I have noticed as I get older, I’m starting to feel more and more invisible. Our society is geared toward younger people and the older I get, the less I “fit in”.

I am also absolutely having the opening of mouth and the hard truths come out with perimenopause. I LOVE that you said it was awesome. 😄 It's as if passing into this next phase somehow the societal niceties that we were programmed with to be good little girls no longer have a hold on us, as if a curse has been lifted. I think this is why society tries to silence older women. We get a little too powerful for others to know what to do with and at this point in our lives we have learned a new magic word: no. I do have a tendency to cross over into rude though if the truths come along with a hormone surge. That part is not so awesome. However, the other day someone tried to manipulate me to do something I did not want to do by asking in front of a lot of people and in front of all of them I said no in the most charming way. It was quite empowering. You keep doing you, Fairy Wendy. I love watching you create, manage your self-care, and share your insights and perspective on this exciting change. I think we will all have our fairy wings once we complete this metamorphosis. 🧚‍♂🧚🧚‍♀🧚🧚‍♂🧚‍♀

I have always felt like a misfit and don't belong. Last year, someone told me that I was quirky. I took it as a compliment. I have learned to embrace who I am. At 53, I dont try to fit in and don't want to. I have taken off 11 months for some healing and me time. I have been judged for quitting my job. I had to quit because of the stress and what it was doing to my health. I have been on a unique journey these last 11 months. I have learned so much about me, others, and God. I appreciate you and so many people on you tube encouraging me this past 11 months. I am painting again and making jewelry. I have sold one painting and have 2 more up for sale on Facebook Marketplace. I am thankful to have had some time to enjoy the seasons and heal. Thank you for your videos and your encouragement. I dont feel alone anymore! From this misfit in East Tennessee!

Glad you are feeling a bit better Wendy. Your comment about doing too much or not being aware of overdoing it really resonates with me. I live with ME/CFS and have done so for over 30 years. I recently came across a wonderful book called “Classic Pacing” by Ingebjorg Dahl. There is a line in this book that really spoke to me and I have been sharing it a lot. It doesn’t necessarily need to be appropriate only for people who struggle with energy but I think it is good advice for anyone. “The activities you do you must be able to do every day without getting worse/needing more rest.” This simple concept has really changed my way of doing things. I do things for a shorter period of time and then rest for the same amount of time. I seem to get more done in this way than doing something in one go and then crashing or feeling unwell for days. I hope it is helpful for any folks who struggle with energy limits.❤

Years ago when I was trying to learn how to market my then business, someone told me “Don’t try to appeal to everyone, our strength is in our unique quirkiness.” I like that and it puts the misfit concept into a new light. Love the Frida quote. Serendipitous, as I hosted a party last Friday where we all came in costume and I chose Frida. I’ve recently had bad back, hip, and leg pain and was identifying a little with her extreme pain. Her bravery in carrying on is so inspiring and touching. Thank you for being another source of sweet insight and perseverance. 🥰

I am 65 years young, and have always talked to myself out loud! It is quite worrying at times, if I have been in a public loo, and I come out and someone is outside, and they look at me in a funny way, and I think, what have I been saying out loud to myself this time?! If I have my rescue greyhound Madge with me, I pretend I have been talking to her! I love the way some of the talking is on here, yet you are not talking on the vlog! I find this really magical. Love your freedom in your art work. You have the most beautiful hair. Please just keep on doing what you are doing, you are so natural, and it is just perfect. Dear Wendy, I am so happy you are feeling better. I too have migraines and I've had them since I was a teenager. I'm now 66. I've worked in a health food store and I've tried lots of things. Nothing works. Until I came across the Medical Medium. Have you heard of him? One of his receipes is to juice celery juice and to drink it on an empty stomach....I've been doing this for over four years and my migraines have disappeared along with hot flashes and my eyesight improving so much that my optometrist is surprised. She can't believe it! I highly recommend him and I feel so fortunate to have found him. I so love all your videos and artwork and I want for everyone to feel the best health possible. So as you say we can all keep our lights shining bright. Big Hugs, Cheryl

Not sure why you wrote that you could have done better. I enjoyed the video, especially the part where you were painting the beautiful faces. When you mentioned Frida Kahlo I smiled - only yesterday I shared a quote of hers on Facebook. It's also very relevant to what you've been saying: "So absurd and ephemeral is our passage in this world, that the only thing that reassures me is the awareness of having been authentic...Being the most self-like person I could possibly imagine." :)

Why is it with everyone else's videos, I can't stand them when they get too long, while halfway through yours, if you change something, I start hoping it's not over yet, then am pleasantly surprised we're only halfway though!? Actually, I know the answer to that. You really help set a much-needed tone in my room. I've been bedridden and mostly alone, many years already, and just recently coming across your channel (many thanks to whomever chose it for my feed) I've been indulging almost every day. Thank you for sharing your life, for being frank, open, real, and most of all for your calmness and amazing creativity. I can't always act on the inspiration you stir up in me, however, I'm inspired none-the-less and have created more since watching than before watching. Art journalling allows us to tap into our internal wellspring, to refill our cup from within. If we do this, as well as take care of our bodies, to keep that energy flowing, perhaps we can all have overflowing cups and will be able to share from our saucers. And, I've dropped earbuds in my tea as well! Glad the migraine has passed, and hope that wrung-out rag feeling has faded as well (familiar scenario post-migraine). Sending healing and strengthening energy out for you - perhaps the trees are storing it for you? Or are the fairies delivering it? Yesterday I spent 3 hours working in my garden. It's got very jungle like over winter and since I haven't been physically able. Fortunately new medicine has helped so much to decrease pain and stiffness. To my amazement I wasn't too sore or stiff this morning and so did an hour more. Being in my garden really transforms me in that I become more of myself in that way that is so difficult to put into words. I think of it as an alchemical process where the trees, plants, insects and birds become one. A Jan waffle doesnt sound nearly as good as a Wendy waffle. I think waffling and warbling is fantastic and becomes most commonly found in the older woman who remains fascinated and fascinating, curious and curiouser, babbling, brook like in creative worlds of our own unruly, and sometimes a little rebellious, design. Lots of love to you from me in Aotearoa New Zealand. Xxx

My dear Fairy Girl as I like to call you, you looks beautiful with your hair flowing . I too suffer from migraines and totally get you! I ve had a headache all weekend myself. My son spoke in his church today and I went to listen, the lights really bothered me as I want out of it with the head. Your quiet videos are just as thought provoking as when you speak to us. Time flies I do not know where … hehe… did two journaling pages this week and got lost in the process. Lovely walk I. The woods. 🍂🍁🌇☮️ lovely seeing your faces come together. Love your Wendy Waffling…. All the music in your videos are so beautiful. Getting out of our head and into our heart is sometimes hard to do but when it happens it is mystical. That’s when the energy really flows. It’s amazing when words flow easily and write in poetry form and you are right about the not thinking state. I am glad you are taking care of yourself, your talk on this today spoke to me in columns. I once told my friend that I felt I was born in the wrong era… because I felt like I was on the outside looking in… if that make sense. I still do at this age if 74 and I’m finally okay with that too. Wendy you help so many of us with your honesty an love. Love you to bits too. Dear Wendy and James, Thank you for your video. I really needed your calming sweet voice today. There are many migraine points to press, look them up, acupressure. A lot are on your cheeks, and jaw mandible. Rub for 240 seconds in little circles, you will know, it will be tender. When you stop, it won't be as sore. It can clear a migraine in 2 mins, and best done when you can feel it starting. I often get Patrick to rub parts of my face when really bad, as Love and massage, helps migraines, much better if someone else uses their healing hands, so ask James to help you. Look up the points for nausea too. I saw a neurologist who said to me, "Panadol causes headaches, that are chronic", I stopped it, migraines stopped. Who would have thought? I found Alka seltzer better, an aspirin product, which dissolves. Acupuncture works well, so does chiro. Migraines can be perimenopausal and hormonal. When I get so hot, I take herbal pills, and am fine, but I call my perimenopause," truth". Blunt, I can not lie! I will throw it at you fast, Subtle as sledgehammer. I am on my 3rd bed day. Not sure why I feel so exhausted? Or is it stress and concern? I am on day 5 of no sugar, honey, wheat, or coffee. I am doing well. A few cravings, but okay. Frozen blueberries yesterday helped with the sugar craving.... (I got up to day 8 last week and had to start it again as I had 1 and a half Lindt chocolates, which were very sickly sweet! But it was a short break away to the lower blue mountains, in Springwood, and when free chocolate and port are there, with a spa in the room, well.....what can I say?) It is raining here. One issue I suppose is all the flooding in Australia, wildlife, and homes, shops, whole towns. It is hard to love the rain when it hurts people by not stopping. I love the rain. I used to walk in the rain as a child. I think I would need some wet weather gear. Do you call your boots, "Wellington?" We are in mid Spring, and it feels like we have just wet seasons now. :( Like they have in far North Qld. My art studio is in a transitional mess. I want to put this there, and that here. So the things that had a home, I wanted to move furniture about. I thought about putting a blackboard and a tiled cork wall up, to cover a full wall, like I had as a child in my bedroom, but as it is a rental, I get a bit of cold feet. How would I do that? I love how you Wendy, have been able to create your space in your second studio by making adjustments. I wonder if it will get cold for you in the coming Winter, and hope you get a rug for Autumn! Things to stop the drafts around doors or windows, and acrylic to cover the window panes. We had a friend come up from Adelaide South Australia, for 4 days, and today is her last day here in Sydney, the problem though is I haven't seen her yet. One wonders if I will get up at all. In kindred spirit, Eliza Australia xx Monday 24th of October 2022 10:27am bed office, white skies, rain constant

I suffer from migraines, too. I've had headaches and migraines most of my life. Recently, it's been more about learning the difference between a migraine (spike in the head!) and a stress/tension headache (a vise is tightening on my head!). I have meds now that help for the migraines, but they still make me sleepy. I need to build more balance in my days. I start really well, and then stop. Thank you for your videos. They help me.

I'm so glad I have older videos of yours to watch! You bring me into the world of self- awareness, affirmation and care. I can allow myself to have a creative outlet, rather than just being busy getting things done. Love the Wendy waffle, also ..is it bits and bobs, no, know what you mean but I forget what they are called! haha.

I really love watching you create, it just blows my mind. I loved art at school but was guided away by well meaning adults because I would be 'wasting' myself, sadly I've wandered through life not really knowing where I fit. My question to you this week is do you think anyone can learn to paint, draw, "do art" because when I open my journal I can write for pages but the thought of anything artish and I freezer, I just can't do it. So afraid of not being good enough, not getting it right even though no one will ever see it. I guess the lesson is to be aware of how powerful our words can be especially to those still finding themselves......hmmm isn't that all of us??

If you immerse yourself in art on Instagram (just follow people who inspire you), you will see that there are SO many different kinds of art. It may free you from feeling that you don't fit in or aren't good enough. It helps me a lot to see others work.

I've been watching your videos whilst recovering from covid and I have to thank you for reigniting my creative spark which had been fizzled out for a while. I have 4 new journals (that I didn't really need lol) that I made one afternoon whilst watching. And yes the menopause does have a curious effect on our inner selves, I've found bits of it quite freeing - the "say what you mean bit" in particular. Thank you for your inspiring content :)

I love your idea of affirmation art/journaling. Heading into treatment for cancer, I continue to practice drawing and painting but feel very unfocused. I've started playing with painting more abstract "healthy cells" on tiny watercolor papers and I might add affirmations on these as visualizing as well as continuing with other subjects (i love painting animals and plants). I love your talking about listening- for art, spirit and body. My journey with menopause and cancer is a chapter of life of returning to intuition, following the messages of body and heart. Your videos are very calming and reminders we are not alone even though we are all on our own journeys. Art informs life and life informs art...we just have to keep listening, learning, and moving forward.

Time disappearing in a creative context is called Flow. It's the immersion of self into a 'task' to the point where you loose track of time. Its incredibly nourishing to the brain and to emotions and energises self.
