I do have 3 of these original belts 2 Khaki and one OD3 transitional. These will be ok for static photo's or displays but you are better off with Reproductions if you are doing re-enactments though so as not to wreck originals.

Yes. Black cap came into use in 1940 and phased out aluminum.

I'm just getting into the hobby of reenacting as a US Soldier during D-Day and I love the look of the Cartridge Belt from At the Front. But should I get the JQMD set or just the regular one?

The USA Made ones will be your best bet! They look the best and will last you much longer than the JQMD brand

I’m thinking of buying one, but I don’t know if I should get an original one or a repro, which is way cheaper. Anybody’s got some reviews of the What Price Glory cartridge belt ?

The usual rule of thumb to follow is the cheaper the product typically the flimsier it’s construction. Cheaper reproductions normally have the same issues. The shading and the integrity of the product. The shading isn’t always the best usually coming in with this very yellow khaki shading that isn’t very often see on originals. In addition, their integrity is not the greatest and can risk falling apart on you much easier compared to higher end reproductions or even originals. Our usual recommendations are WWII Impressions or At the Front, but sturdy originals also tend to show up for decent prices on eBay and at gun shows! Good quality gear is always just beneficial to how your kit looks in the long run!

A great series of videos! Have a question if I may. I have a reproduction M1923 cartridge belt that my father bought in the 1990's. It's a very sturdy belt, but has one oddity. Along the top of the pouches the are only 2 grommets rather then the 6 that are normally there. Is this a specific belt used by a certain branch of the military, or just a poorly made belt? Thanks!
