As a "happy" Finn, this seems so fake as everything they experience is a given fact, just a normal day. Also Happy is the wrong word to use, "content" is way more accurate.

It's becoming a brand which they're trying to sell as if there was some secret recipe to it which can be only found here...But there is no secret the society is just quite functional in general and the taxes actually go towards systems that help people

It's actually Olavinlinna. Suomenlinna has no castle despite its name

Finland circumcises 2-4 percent of boys whereas America circumcises 50-70 percent. Gee, I wonder if that might be a factor in determining the happiness of a country?

True. The suicide rate is still lower than USA. We’re happy to pay taxes because we get high quality services in return. Finns don’t need to pay for health insurance, college tuitions. We have affordable child care, drugs and nobody is sleeping under bridges. You don’t like to pay taxes because you get nothing in return. That’s not the case in Finland. Most people pay them happily. We vote for the leaders who maintain this system

Finland is ranked 38 in the world, lower than the US at 31, and much lower than certain parts of the US, such as Appalachia and the Rockies, where being "tough" and "cool" and "keeping up with the Joneses" are the paramount, _de facto_ dogma.

I guess the old saying is true, ignorance is Bliss.
