Pulled this card from a pack I bought at a gas station like at 2am 18 years ago. Still got it. I glance at it every couple years and put it right back in the closet

DUde! My journey was similar! I bought that card at the dip in the offseason for ~$1000, just sold it for $1900 a couple weeks ago. After taxes and fees, I made about $700 total. By far my biggest flip yet.

Hey you guys seem to know about this card. I actually found one in my childhood collection lol is there any certain number or anything that makes this card more valuable ? I'm really trying to figure out the value of it and know nothing about cards

The offseason is forever the time to not sell your highest end cards lol. There's always going to be a dip, congrats on the successful flip Jerry! Insure the shipment and you should be fine!

I bought this card for $5 raw when it first came out, have held onto it for all this time and just last week sent it off to PSA. I am only expecting a 7 or an 8 on it though but still will make something from it.

Jerry, I just started collecting cards and I think I’ve dropped $70k in 3 months. Very excited about 221 based on the possibility of LJ breaking Kareems record. If I can give you a bit of advice… I can feel your anxiety in this video and maybe you need that cash for rent or for a big purchase but I think you might buy cards to let them sit a couple years. Put them under your Xmas tree after 10 years and you’ll have a nice return. Relax and enjoy card collecting. I think I bought 15 of these from psa 8-10 and I’m waiting 5 years and thereafter I’ll sell one per year and I should be happy with an average 10% annual return after eBay fees and shipping. What bank can give you that return? Happy collecting Jerry!

Hold on to it. Once he retires and goes into the hall of fame it’s Gonna be big money. That’s a card you hold onto and give to your kids or sell it when your old

I did my first ever trade through Twitter with someone I didn't really know at all. Of course it was in early December!! I sent a big Trout for a big Ichiro. I shipped priority through USPS he had planned on doing the same but got tied up with work and had to wait till Saturday. He didn't get to the Post Office in time so had to ship through UPS. He insured and shipped it and they asked him what he was shipping. He told them a baseball card. He shipped it through them on Saturday and also had a tracking number. I kept verifying the tracking number and it said no information avaible. I did research on that particular UPS store and it had horrible reviews including missing or lost packages. It turns out that UPS doesn't update any tracking info for items shipped during the weekend. I literally paced the floor and I honestly don't know if I would go through that again. We both ended up getting our cards and each of us were happy with the cards we each received.

That is the very thing I was worrying about and really never gets discussed is the emotional toll it takes on a person! Like you said you were researching and pacing all over the place! It may seem silly but those things do happen! Thank you for sharing your story! I completely understand where you are coming from!

I bought a Tom Brady PSA 8 rookie for 350$ A year ago, And just sold it a couple months ago for over 1800$. I just bought 2 PSA 9 mint LeBron James rookie cards tonight for 1325$. I will hold that until he wins the title next year again and then sell.:)

Pulled the card from a pack at my local sports card store when i was like 7 and my dad knew it would be worth money one day and probably sent it to psa himself cuz i dont see me being 7 doing that. Its a psa 9 and i went to my dads and it was just in a box and he said i think this is yours.

Amazing video! Crazy price difference between a PSA 9 and 10 with that draft pick card! I’m just wondering why you didn’t decide to hold onto the card for a few more more years because of his retirement and everything else. I’m going through the same thing right now I actually pulled a 1 of 1 LeBron James card a few weeks ago and I’m still in shock! Since it’s the only card in the world I’m not sure if I want to try to sell it because of the market or hold onto it for a few years until he retires! He better get mvp this year. They always rip him off because of those rookies just to make it look good!!

That is a great question! I bought the card with the sole purpose of flipping. If I had pulled the card myself out of a pack I would definitely be holding it for a while! I do have his 2003 Bowman rookie that I have no plans of selling in the neat future! I would definitely hold your 1 of 1!

That's a long term investment card man. You flip rookies and prospects for fast cash. You save that card for 20 years it will do more than any 401k

Very true and I have other Lebron rookies sitting in a safe, but I bought this one for a flip!

My approach is, if I can 2x the card, it's time to sell, if it keeps going up, well that's good for whoever bought it.

Exactly. I had a Bowman Brady rookie in a bgs 9. Got in at 1250 got out at 2800. Happy with that and someone else made some money too if they flipped it after that.

Cool flip thanks for sharing. I’m currently trying to figure out if I want to sell my Lebron rookie card. It’s the etopps 43 in psa 10. I bought it around 10 years ago for 100 bucks. Do you think it would be more valuable as the season starts and is underway?

The price will definitely go up once the season gets started! If Lebron can stay healthy and the rest of the team stays fairly healthy then your card could have a nice jump in price if it looks like the Lakers are in the title hunt!

I payed 120 dollars for mine 2 years ago. I got the chrome 9 for 600.

That LeBron James Rookie Card.... im not into Card Collecting its just my late Uncle gave me a pack like 4 packs wayback 2004 As a Christmas Gift hes a Seafarer and I was 8 when he gave it to me my favorite card was Tony Parker and Allen Iverson because its Shiny no one plays it in our neighborhood In the Philippines so I just Kept it inside a Note book I gotta Find That card in that old boxes of toys In our old House..... Fuuuuuq!!!!! im Freaking Out....

I wanted a psa 9 but couldn't find one with good centering. Ended up finding a BGS 9 with 10 centering

BGS is a superior grading company. PSA is worth more. For now.

The best place to sell is still eBay and I would hold it right now! With the Lakers having a terrible season his prices have dropped so I would wait until next season and if his team is playing well maybe look to sell then!

Overnight it and everything will be fine with shipping. Overnight or next day shipping get priority over standard shipping. You made money and that card won't stop going up, never.

Great question! I haven't heard of any stories of fakes of this card. Normally the fakes will come with the super high end stuff! I would just do a quick google search on it and see if anything pops up! Thanks for watching!

One way to tell would be the real one having silver foiling and the reprint doesn't because it is a fully printed card.

Fedex priority shipping is what i do with all important high end packages. Never a problem. I do not insure them. They always get there. I am in Canada too. Never a problem International and to the U.S.

Well one benefit of having it graded the grading company will not grade and encase a fake card!

That is a good question! I have never seen anyone open a case without destroying the case. Now I’m not saying it is impossible but if you buy a graded Lebron rookie you should feel pretty confident that the card is legit! With high end rookies like Lebron I would only buy graded cards!

Not sure if the base PSA 9 card will get that high but I could definitely see it getting between 3 - 5K! Now the PSA 10 might be a different story!

If you have a chance to purchase any Jordan 1986 Fleer rookie I would no matter the grade! Out of curiosity I checked to see what a PSA 1 was going for and it had bids for over 3,000!

Good question! Lots of reasons! Super high demand because he might be the best to ever play (I would say Jordan 😁). It is graded which puts a high premium on it! It’s his rookie card! And it’s his Topps rookie card which people prefer over most of his rookie cards!

What about the 2003 topps collection one with lower pop count? Shouldn't that one be in higher demand?🤔

Yes and no! Right now the hobby has decided that the two most desirable rookies of Lebron are his Topps Chrome and his base Topps rookie! That is where the demand is at for his rookie cards! But that could easily move to the card you mentioned if the price gets to high for the others.

Should’ve just held on to it making 300$ isn’t worth it imo

Well its current value is right around 950 so as of right now I made a good call! The POP is pretty high and the current market doesn't care for base rookies so it will be interesting to see how this one does over the time! Thanks for watching!
