LESSON - Back In The Saddle by Aerosmith (Joe Perry's parts)

Музыка

After buying a Bass VI and playing Back in the Saddle in my last video, I thought I would teach how to play the song. Joe Perry's parts that is.

Aerosmiths early albums are their best albums. I learned how to play the guitar from Aerosmith and my dad and I’m sure my siblings and mom got sick of me playing the lick over and over till I got it right back in the 80’s, only dad understood why I would play the same lick over and over. Great lesson!

Great part, and lesson. For the longest time, I didn't know about Bass VI's, and could not figure out how anyone could move around on a bass like that. Surprised more players don't use them. Always liked how Robert Smith used one in the Cure as well.

My brother just bought me a Bass VI for my birthday and this was one of the first songs I played on it (the other was Spanked by Van Halen). What a cool hybrid instrument. You can be a straight bass (I have three other basses) or you can sound like Joe Perry did on this song and solo on it (I'm primarily a lead guitar player but I also am a bass player). No more having to use an octave pedal!

Nice job! The MA accent adds to the authenticity. lol I do a "fake" version: for the D to E bounce at the beginning of the riff, I do a two-note power chord with the open A and D strings and hammer to the 2nd fret, then do the G to E move on the low E. That Fender Bass VI is wicked awesome!

Dave, thanks for your response. Yes, I know he's using a VI but since I don't have one I'm going to adjust and adapt the positions of the notes/chords for a four string bass. It might not sound great but it's just something I want to try and accomplish. Your video will help a lot!

@@DavesGuitarChannel Of course Brad did Last child leads. Yes Brad did the fills during back in the saddle, big deal, but Joe plays that cool solo at the end. ALL his style, he was playing great at the time. By 77 he was shot, shame! Listen to live bootleg, it's Joe doing that lead, later they gave Brad the whole song on lead, NEVER been the same since live!
