HEY EVERYONE!! PLEASE read the description for more details.. I added some safety facts and info on some of these DIY options. Safety Notes: These household cleaners DO NOT disinfect. I keep Clorox bleach in my cabinet for when I feel an area of my home needs to be disinfected. These DIY vinegar cleansers are good for touch ups. Also DO NOT ever mix vinegar and clorox bleach. I use bleach by itself, and these cleansers for touch ups only. Essential Oils - please use food grade and do not swallow the toothpaste, or out of an abundance of caution use peppermint extract instead. Baking Soda- Use it consciously. It can help remove surface stains, however scrubbing your teeth vigorously with baking soda can cause damage to the tooth and erode enamel over time. It is advisable to brush your teeth with baking soda no more than a few times a week, and when you do, try not to let it sit on your teeth for more than a minute. I personally use mine occasionally in addition to store bought toothpaste. Also, I apologize that I didn't pronounce www.TheEarthingco.com correctly, as I so badly wanted to support them.. =( Please check their site out and support!

Thank you for being so conscious of the fact that people are struggling to pay for those "non essential" luxuries we all used to enjoy, before the hard economic times. This does not go unnoticed. What a wonderful reminder we can still practice self care through these tough times.

I love all of these tips!! I’ve been making my own cleaner for a while and I LOVE the smell. Lemon and clove essential oils is my favorite combo! If you wanted to try another easy swap, you should cut up a old tee shirt into squares and put them into a jar. You could use them as tissues and put the used ones in the same bag as your cotton rounds. I did this a bit ago and was skeptical, but they’re SO soft and nice to use!

Thank you Rachel. Although being in a different continent I may not find the same natural substitution of high end products as you, I do find this switch inspiring. I am also on the lookout for effective & less expensive products & I would always find your product choice as something I couldould only wish for. Here in India, although we boast of the origin of cosmetics, medicines & whatnot derived from nature, good natural products come with a huge cost & the big brands are pushed at us. Thank you, looking forward to naturally derived alternatives for more areas of our lives

Thank you for sharing! It’s great when anyone tries to be more mindful of their impact on the environment...we are not perfect but we need to show and teach our kids to always keep trying to do better. Can you please include how to store and the expiration for each DIY? This will help with the efficacy of each product (proper storage ie dark glass bottle, cool dry dark cabinet, etc) and to know when to toss it out and make more. Thanks 🙂... Can you please do an update video on your businesses? Like will you be reviving Pacific Thyme or anything similar, your music, KZread vids, etc. Thanks!

Sure. I can do that. I usually make these as I use them, so as soon as I'm out of something I make another batch. Toothpaste I would make in small weekly or bi weekly batches, the sprays are infused vinegar, so should last up to a year. Soap I use until it's complete. I keep the other skincare ingredients separate so I can make small batches =) Also, I will share more about business. A lot stopped with the pandemic, but PacificThyme will be coming back this year, and I don't think I will ever stop making music so I know that will be back too! xo

I tried a shampoo and conditioner bar but it didn't work well with my hair. Now I'm using shea moisture products for all hair types because they are ethically sourced, vegan, and don't contain harsh chemicals. I believe their bottle is partially recycled as well. When I finish it I will recycle the bottle but I know recycling isn't always the best option. I'm also using a bamboo tooth brush, metal razor, and eco friendly menstrual products. My next thing to try is toothpaste tablets.

These are very interesting, but please consider adding at least bergamot and clove (they are antiseptic and disinfectant) to your sprays: vinegar itself doesn't kill all the bacteria on the surfaces and expecially during these times it's very risky not to have houses as perfectly clean as possible (scientists and virologists say if you don't use alcohol, chlorine or ammonia, covid won't even go away from the surfaces! I'm allergic to each of them and try to use them as little as possible but at least some is necessary). There are also many natural cleaners that are 100 safe and rechargable that you can buy online or in the stores, so you are sure to really disinfect everything. Also, steam works much better for cleaning the floors, expecially if you put some drops of bergamot essential oil on the mop. I know it's important to take care of the environment and sure as hell you are already doing a great job, but you should be extra careful about cleaners...yeah I know in the past centuries there were lots of natural cleaners, but also many people died from infections, bacteria and viruses. Just be careful and stay safe :)

@@racheltalbott Thank you for your answer! Well, you are right, every time will be too much, I like to use an ammonia or chlorine based product once a week, just to be safe during these crazy times. The rest of the time I use a steam mop and drop some bergamot essential oil on its rug.
