Had never heard of Leslie Odom Jr. before Hamilton was released on Disney+. Now my favorite singer, by far. Love this song. Phenomenal talent. Thanks for sharing your gift with the world.

I'm so obsessed with this performance. I really wish the complete concert was still up, it was taken down by LL Bean after about a month. I hope they'll find it in their hearts to reupload it some future Christmas season. It was an amazing concert and I really wish I'd recorded it for myself, I still think about it often!

I absolutely love this cover. First, he sings it in the same key as the original (Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson). Then, that driving bass drum totally transforms the song from one that is just this melancholy longing to something that feels so driving and urgent without losing any of the melancholy or longing because his voice is so smooth and gentle....there's no strain in it ever. Like...the level of musicianship and craftsmanship in this man's work is just spectacular. And clearly, he's surrounded himself with amazing musicians.
