LESHEMI VILLAGE, ONE OF THE FIRST VILLAGES IN NAGALAND

Leshemi Village, a medium sized village located under Phek district of Nagaland. The village is roughly around 54 Kilometres away from the state's capital, Kohima. It takes around 2 hours to reach the village if one is to start their journey from the State's capital. The village is inhabited by the Chakhesang tribe of the Nagas and are said to have migrated from Maikhel Village which is located in the state of Manipur. According to a preliminary excavation done by the department of History and Archaeology of Nagaland University in the year 2001, the tools and the artefacts which were used by the ancestors of the people of Leshimi Village were of the Neolithic tradition, belonging to to circa 4000-2000 BC in European context

Leshemi village was one of the oldest and first village settlement as we all know, but in booklet of Nagaland education board we read this as khezhakeno was. I will explain. It was one of latest and newly settlement among the kuzhami. Keno means last people, they have two villages lower and upper, lower one was the first but these also spread from leshemi village . Upper one was collected or forms by many others, because the site on the hill slop and so there language quite different from Kuzhami. Do not hesitated or confused on this.

Please get your facts right. The people of Khezhakeno called themselves Kozabomi meaning the 'root/origin of the Koza people'. Khezhakeno villagers locally called the Khezhas as Kozami (people of Koza) Other Khezha villages called Khezhakeno locally as Khuzhabomi (which means the same meaning as Kozabomi with only different accent used) In Tenyimia Culture, if a village satellite is set up from the parent village, the village undergoes a little variation in accent which is done so to avoid calamities. Technically, if a new village sets up, gradually we see change in accent anywhere. That is why no Khezha village has the same accent 100% as it's parent village. The name 'Khezhakeno' is called so more commonly because of the Kozanokhro/ Khezhanokhro (KHEZHANUO in Tenyidie which means House tax). This house tax known to the Khezha is collected & lastly reached Khezhakeno because it is the first settlement Village. Until 1980, the Govt of Nagaland used House Tax as 'Khezhanuo' in all govt documents. Khezhakeno has three Khels and not two as mentioned by you. Tso Tawo or the famous spirited stone is in lower Khel because it was the first settlement of Koza. Gradually, the villagers moved upwards and thus formed two more khels. Khezhakeno once had 6 satellite villages in the vicinity of present Khezhakeno but with time due to migrations & natural calamities, today only Khezhakeno and Tepfulomi village stands. (there are two Khezhakeno villages in Dimapur but that is a different story and not of ancient history) It known fact that other tribes also migrated from Khezhakeno. I advised you to stop spreading wrong information just to confuse the public.

@kekuukekuu2364. U have interpreted 'keno' wrongly from your own dictionary. 'Keno' in khezhakeno also means siblings .if I were to define leshemi ? Le (dish) she( cleaning ,washing) mi ( people) = dish cleaning people .

@@mezekhape9300 yooo.. dish cleaning people? No way. Here's one from the oral source of my village. From Khezhakeno, some of them moved out in group as a nation to their next destination. When they reached the place, they praised themselves and hence came to be known as "Aleshemi" (in Sumi) meaning a "Praising nation/people" . Then again, another group from Leshemi proceeded to the next villages like Kalumi(Kami), Nakrami(Lekromi) and so on. It is not necessary for everyone to believe it though. As today, each villages might have renamed themselves and given interpretations of their own. All of them have their own historical events and significants.

Funny how some people accused NLTV of bad historical literacy, by trying to claim their own village as the first village in nagaland, when the whole video never mentioned Leshemi as the first village, rather it says one of the first village.

According to kuzhami oral history khezhakeno was the last settlers. In fact the Seven other kuzhami villages never migrated from khezhakeno village. Moreover the kuzhanuo khro ie tax was collected till present day Siethekiema under Chumu district by the three villagers of Leshemi Lasumi and Zapami.

The word Khezhakeno means "the last kuzha people" In chakhesang _kuzhale dialect. Which means they are the last settler or village in chakhesang_kuzhami community. So whatever they say about Khezhakeno, they are the last means last. #truth_origins_kuzhami

Torimilo your origin is different I guess what you are saying is nothing to do about our existence and is very different .... because we chakhesang believed that we have migrated from Khezhakeno that's what our chakhesang forefathers told ...

If to go with the above logic Leshemi will be Le - Dish , she - cleaning, mi - people. So Leshemi will be Dish cleaning people, so it can imply that they are lower section of people. 😂... But we cannot interpret the origins in this manner. Many of the tribes claims their origins from Khezhakeno and not Leshemi.

Leshemi village has been studied by many universities and that is what they have concluded. Has there been any studies showing that the village in tuensang is oldest? If there are no research backing it, I don’t think you should be spreading fake news.
