I love your channel because you always recommend books I haven't heard of elsewhere. Can't wait to give some of these a read! Also very grateful because I bought a copy of Mrs. Dalloway ages ago and then completely forgot about it LOL I'm not sure if you've read it, but I'm reading She Who Became The Sun right now and I think you might like it. It's definitely more suited to a history-nerd-type because the plot is driven by politics, war, and the character's desire for power... but it's an incredibly poignant exploration of gender, and it's told in such a vivid and compelling way.

This is so sweet!! Thanks love. I’ve been hearing such good things about that book for a long time now! It’s kind of hard for me to get myself motivated to read books that long unfortunately :/ but hopefully I will be able to at some point in the future!

Just added a bunch of these to my TBR! I was wondering if in the future you could put a list of the books and their authors in the description? 😁

Yay! So good to hear. Yes I most frequently do include a list in the description, but for this video I pinned a comment that someone so kindly made that has all the titles and timestamps :)

I haven't seen this video yet so I do not know if this story comes in it, but I recommend Mountain ways by Ursula K le Guin. Iconic sci fi author, interesting saphic story, and craziest of all, written in 1996! Definitely ahead of its time.

I really enjoyed Everybody in this Room Will Someday be Dead. I'm a former Catholic and I thought it was hilarious how she was trying to fake being Catholic. I have anxiety because I have a rare heart condition. I relate to living with anxiety and having related mental health issues because of my diagnosis. The humor can be dark at times, but that's my style. I listened to the audiobook which was good.

Sounds like a bad move then. Mental health over books. Until you’re more in a stable place and yes I know it can be chronic but there’s progress with that too. It can always wait until better times

Please remember to buy the books, request at a library, and demand more from publishers if you don’t find good options where you live. But don’t steal from lesbian authors guys. Already paid less and published less so they need the sales to get offers and not be in debt if books don’t sell(they owe traditional publishers whatever gets sent back), and to not be at a loss if they’re indie. Classics matter too even if the author isn’t here because buying means it needs to be in print from publisher’s perspective. Lots of lost lesbian fiction and buying directly or via library prevents that.

Please look at “Beyond Any Experience” by Anne Terpstra! The main character is a middle-aged parent (gasp!) and it’s so sex positive. Writing is amazing: a very realistic portrayal of trauma, grief, and the wisdom of the multigenerational feminine.

I love your lesbian book recs because it is RARE that 1) I find someone who focuses on literary fiction with nuance or an actual compelling plot 2) haven’t read or heard of it already and most importantly 3) actually has black writers recommended. Writers of colour in general. You don’t understand how much of a hidden gem you are 😭 I’m tired of these people telling me to read Sarah Waters it’s so stale
