Mark, thank you for the updated contact information if a little late😊. I was able to find some cnc files and have completed two Les Paul guitars for my son and myself with some help by a friend with a cnc machine. Good luck with your side business and I know there is a lot of work in putting these files together.

Hey, me and my dad are looking at making a les Paul, it will be our first guitar. Anyways, I was wondering if you could let me know where you got your files and what they are priced at? I’ve looked and haven’t found much that I like yet

@@splishsplash2150 i had a friend with a ShopSabre cnc machine and they provided the cnc files to him without cost. If you don’t have the ShopSabre machine, then I can’t help you. Sorry about that.

Very, very nice job! It never occurred to me to cut the wire channel, glue up, and then do the rest as one piece, but with CNC it makes perfect sense. Looking forward to the finished product.

Hi, what software do you use to generate the cutting paths? Is it not possible to generate a ramp cutting path for the neck pocket without using the jig?

Very impressive, where did you get the file for the body, it is the rise and fall of the body that I am finding a challenge. Any guidance would be appreciated.

im building a cnc router,im gathering info to best suit my needs, can you give me dimentions of the machine in the video, outside sizes and cutting bed area, soft ware used is it good for a newbie to cnc, modeling and transfer to solid product cost. Can you cut a neck through guitar on this bed,i've considered a1500mm x 600mm bed area, but i may just go for 1000mm x600mm,not sure yet. I,d appreciate the info as it will help me evaluate the best trade offs ,

Did you machine the pickup pockets at the same angle as the neck mortise? Also, when machining the control cavity in part 2 I saw that you cut through the bottom of the mahogany into the maple.. was that the 7degree angle found on 59 Les Pauls or was it just a flat pocket?

  • @Seitz333

+SwiftyJ Yes the pickup pockets were machined at the same angle as the neck, I used 4.2deg. From all of the info I have found the 7deg angle for the control cavity was found on 59 Les Pauls. Most all of my dimensions were taken from the Bartlett plans. I have been having problems getting the neck machined right, reason for the long delay in a new video. I have already cut about 10 test necks. Everything is cutting correct except the transition from the neck to headstock on the back of the neck. Going to try and build a new jig this weekend and hopefully try another test neck next weekend... Thanks!

+Seitz333 I plan to CNC a complete Les Paul within the near future. I was planning to create separate jigs to machine the angles for the pickup pockets and control cavity, but I may have a rethink after watching your videos. I have been playing around with toolpaths on the neck in HSMWorks and seem to have fairly good results from the simulation of machining it provides. Whether or not this will translate well to the actual work piece is yet to be discovered. From youtube results it doesn't look like many people have tried CNC'ing complete necks with a angled headstock..

Are you using a standard 2 flute carbide end mill for the neck pocket? With the 4.2 degree angle, does this work ok with std end mill..? I just ordered a new 6012 machine. What are your favorite end mills to use..? carbide.? 2 flute best for woods..? I am new to this game... Thanks
