There were some incredible "Les Brers" played on the summer 2000 tour with Derek and Jimmy Herring. It was also the tour when The Brothers played "Loan Me A Dime".

Been keeping this in storage for the right time? Holy shit! Derek is incredible here. Even though it is his own new solo, I still hear Derek playing it off the Live at the Fillmore East version. This whole thing was a pleasure.

R Brumer This song and Derek are not on Live at the Fillmore East album. The best version of this song other than the studio version on Eat a Peach is on the Live at Winterland Ball Room from the 2013 package celebrating 40 years of Brothers and Sisters.

@@capwillis19 Oh indeed. Derek was very influenced by Duane Allman. Growing up Derek's father played the Fillmore East album all the time as Derek's uncle Butch Trucks was in the band. Derek was heavily influenced by Duane. That is a big reason Derek can play these songs so well and was such a good fit.

@@boblackey1 dude...I know all this..I'm 62 was listening to Live at the Fillmore east since it came out. Only point I was trying to make was that Derek was pulling some quick 2,3 second licks exactly from Duane's solos and a few ideas too, but making it his own. But I did screw up on the original Les Brers I was recalling. Nothing personal. Just assuring you I usually know my shit on the brothers. Fillmore East, and live cuts from these dates are still the most played music in my collection. But..keep on keeping on.

@@capwillis19 Cool. Nice to know about you. I'm older than you and Fillmore East is my favorite album too . Derek played with The Brothers last month in New York City. Jaimoe was the only original there and he and Dickey are the only two still living. Warren Haynes and Chuck Leavell played.

Derek Trucks solos nonstop for five minutes from 5:30. I'm surprised Haynes didn't get a solo spot at all. But then again I'm only at the 11 minute mark at the moment. Not one of their better bass & drum solos follows. and Haynes gets to solo at 22:50

Is this the greatest blues rock band? Or is it the greatest jazz band? Or is it the greatest jam band? I guess it's all 3 of those.
