Absolutely nailed it, mah internet brethren. Cleet done made me proud to see him working hard and just trying to do their own badass thing. Remember how many transmissions they swapped before the methanol Leeroy? I mean, y'all are a hard working and entertianing bunch of regular seeming people. Just keeping on showing the USA(at least) that the media is a depression machine. Bought a track before Covid hit, worst timing ever, turned that into the symbol of American and Floridian drag racing/circle track racing revival. Freedom Factory is hopefully going to continue well beyond y'alls time here on this earth. I hope, anyways.

Yup, well anger may get edited out. But it's also easier knowing you have the funds to fix or replace whatever you want takes some of that pressure as well as anger with it.. its a theoretical number. you can estimate power made with how much boost psi goes in. it didn't actually put that much power through the drivetrain. engine failed before the power even had a chance to go anywhere

@@user-vm3hz9vf8e The estimate is based on requested fuel flow commanded by the ECU, which you can see in the data logs. It is close enough to 1lb/hr of ethanol per 1hp. Pump 93 is closer to 0.5lbs of fuel for 1hp. Not sure how accurate that is because it says CL Comp is 0% and it is likely operating in an untuned part of the map that it usually never sees. It might just be commanding 100% fuel up there.

So bummed love seeing Leroy making hits a World Cup. Mullet needs to win his class for Leroy.

There's a way to catch that with the ECU!Most sensors will return a very low but non-zero voltage for 0 psi. When sensors go dead a lot time they will return 0.0V. So you can set up a safety that compares the returned voltage to the 0psi voltage. So if V-actual is less than (for example) 0.15V then max dome duty cycle allowed is 0.

That is a tough day at the track. I feel for you guys. Something to look into is remote mounting the sensors using a sensor block. Those high end sensors don't like being directly mounted to the engine (vibrations/etc). We mounted all of ours on a sensor block and then ran teflon lines from the sensors to the relevant locations. Hope you get it sorted for World Cup.

I work in metrology and we constantly fight pressure sensors on the industrial level, this happens all the time from vibration. +1 on remote sensor location. Great idea.

There isn't a corvette manual trans that can handle that kind of power yet, they would have to convert it to a normal trans with a differential combo rather than the transaxle style that is currently on it. The trans is the weakest link as of right now, only reason the trans didn't break just now is because the clutches were still slipping when it overrevved and blew up

So this is why they say racecars are expensive... Add to it trying for 7 and 6 second passes consistently and it's just what you're gonna deal with on a pretty consistent basis. Thing is you're learning from it all and will be able to diagnose the issues a lot quicker as time goes therefore saving parts a lot more often. It's life for a 7/6 second car.

And that's the problem with elect-tron-icles... unless redundant. Cause when they drop a deuce, things can turn to Schitt Real quick! In some cases having redundant systems means Lbs. So that's out. Remote sensor blocks might help. There's a hand full of quality manufacturers out there... Man that sound came through loud and clear... When it shucked the drive shaft/torque tube, I knew the motor almost broke loose and came out!.. That front end could be twisted. Makes a gearhead guy wanna cry... Stay strong dude! Thanks be to God, you're OK!

On the positive side, it was great that you did this day of testing. If these things happened on race day it would be a lot more painful than on a test session. It was good to see the whole team focussing on each car, one at a time. Getting the suspension setups dialled in. Learning what tweaks do the things. Shame about kaboom, best way for it to happen though.

Damn that's a kick in the nuts. Cleetus always staying positive. Such an inspiration and great representative for the car community.

LS motors aren't built for 3,000 HP...

The first car I bought was an 83 Malibu Stationwagon. Got it really cheap because nobody wanted it. The salesman was really confused a teenager wanted it. The most practical hot rod I have ever owned and loved it. Made it both fast and good for surfing and camping. Cooler than a mini-van family car when I settled down and installed a baby seat. Frankly I think I would still be driving it if it hadn't been T-boned at an intersection by a texting driver. I am an autobody guy....sadly there just wasn't enough left to work with. Pulled all the good parts off and had to just sell the rest for scrap metal.

That 1.18 60’ in Mullet looked like the front wheels were in the air at the 60’ meaning Mullet likely tripped the beam with the BACK tires. You always want to know what everyone else is likely to bring so you can work out what you need to do. No point running your motor at 2000hp if your opponents are only at 1500hp because you're risking breakages for nothing. No point running at 1500hp if everyone else is in at 2000hp because you're going to lose. Of course its not all about power - just making the point that if you go out there blind you're putting yourself at a big disadvantage and I doubt many going to world cup are that niave.

The fact Leroy even held 60 psi, even for a second, is amazing. And rpm transmissions is some bad units for takin that like nothing. If I don’t see a “do something cool Leroy” shirt or a “Bluetooth converter” shirt, I’m going to be upset 😂🔧

??? Just how weak are those engines ? Honda K engines hold 60psi, Barras will hold 50psi, 60 spike wont kill them. Are American v8s just enherently very weak ? 3000hp from a 7L, engine shouldn't be a big ask.

Weak? Boost pressure is nothing but a restriction. So if you take that 60 psi from a Honda and put it on this bigger engine that breaths, you might only make 25, 30 psi. 60 psi on this engine is like putting a Honda on 120 psi

That was spectacular for Leroy. Parts flying off everywhere. Now you need to build the engine to take that amount of power.

That really really sucks! On the bright side Leroy was looking good... once the motor is sorted out he's gonna be better than ever! Mullet too!

It has been said a lot in chat, pretty much what you're saying and you're right. In humor I think Sam, until Jimmy moved in, had TV or chatting to the Misses to do with his time. First fire up over the fence - the screen door slams behind Sam.

This is a really interesting concept - actually dialing in your cars before an event, instead of just a mad rush to get them assembled and 'running' minutes before leaving, lol. And even then, it never works out. RIP.
