Good research, my dude. This goes to show there is no loyalty in that game, and trusting a woman who is used to getting the finer things in life to be loyal and you in jail for life, forget about it. What did Nicky think was going to happen? However, for him to snitch like he did on other dudes makes him a weak Azz dude, another reason I chose an engineering degree over drugs. I had the opportunity as I grew in the crack epidemic of the 80s, and, being from Chicago, I am sure my fate would have been the Big 2️⃣. Jail or Death!

This was in my youth-era. My family was associated with one of Nicky's associates named Leroy that owned my Uncle and Cousin's garage on Audbon next to the Bridge Apartments @ the George Washington Bridge, where I spent most of my summers 1975-1983. The guy that lived (or had a spot) in the Bridge Apartments was the true owner of my Uncle and Cousin's garage Leroy Butler. Plus he was running off several other names of people that was down with the crew that I cannot remember. He is 68 and I am 56. So memories tend to fade...lol

Word Up! I'm delighted that you're continuing to develop as a true organized crime historian! Excellent job on the research, narration, and photos on an OG like Leroy "Nicky" Barnes! He was a legend in NYC as one of the most influential crime bosses during the heyday of gangsterism in the 1970s. Nicky Barnes was a thug who created an organization of murderous, capable, and intelligent Black men along the same structure as Cosa Nostra. I would love to see a QUALITY biopic about this legendary New York gangster! His memoir by Tom Folsom was great, and I highly recommend it to any student on the subject of organized crime. Big props my brother! You've been doing a fantastic job. I would love to see a video on the Jones Brothers and Ted Roe of Chicago as well in the future. There are too many people who believe that gangsterism is only limited to men of European descent.

Can you do a video focusing on Nicky's two women and they role they played? It's wild how they do not know why ole girl was killed.

Yes I can do a video on gangster girlfriends. But she was killed by the mafia because Nicky was talking. I left it out for later.

I highly recommend “Pleasant Ave Connection by David Durkos. It’s long out of print and pretty expensive. Since your family is one of the best in the city; I have a chewed up, but readable copy I’ll gladly donate. Also, it was a shame that Nicky Barnes ratted out infamous Jewish gangster/French connection wholesaler Herbie Sperling as a “token of goodwill” to his new handler G men. Could you imagine Herbie being alive to see all these rat podcasts?😂
