Sitting in the back seat of our Mom and Dads 1951 Chevy 4 door sedan at the outdoor movies on a Saturday night, this would come on the speaker system before the movie and intermission. I did not know what it was but I loved it so much it stuck in my head from that day. At 6 years of age until now 70 it still has that coming affect on me. Thanks for the beautiful music.

My mother heard this song once in a movie or on classical radio and commented on how wonderful it was. I found a recording for her on tape which she played over and over. We played it at her funeral as well. A beautiful piece of music.

LeRoy Anderson has been often described (in an entirely complimentary and adulatory spirit) as "20th Century America's most widely known [from the popularity and ubiquity of his music] 'UNKNOWN' composer." Largely because he was (from the biographical material I've read) generally a private individual who shunned the limelight. Now, nearly 50 years after his death, LeRoy Anderson is much better known and the composer and his marvelous music are receiving the appreciation and commendation long deserved. He is ranked alongside Richard Rodgers, George Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein, Cole Porter, Aaron Copland, Samuel Barber, Duke Ellington, Dave Brubeck, and numerous others in the list of America's premier 20th Century composers. His music also enjoys continued popularity around the world.

As a tiny child the first songs I remember and loved were Johnny Ray singing his heart out to "Cry" and Leroy Anderson's "Blue Tango" I am soon to be 70 years old and I now tear up with melancholy and with Joy when I hear either. It was the beginning of a life that has been sustained by glorious music...the food of my soul. Thank you. Xandra

Xandra, I’m almost 72 and I have to admit I loved Les Baxter’s version of Blue Tango the best over all these past years probably because his was the first version I ever heard especially with that beautiful chorus of his. But Leroy Anderson was the writer and composer of this song and his version sold more copies of any other arranger and composer who covered this great instrumental. This song I have read is probably the greatest instrumental that was ever written and I agree wholeheartedly 100 %.

I wish this song was 3 times as long. I first head it whn I was 6 y.o. and spending 10 days with my Grandparents on Vancouver Island..in what is now a Victoria suburb aka Langford. Back then the area pop of langford and Colwood might have been 2500. Today 70,000 .. and Langford Lake, which used to be so pretty, is now ringed with Condos.. :-p This was in 1951, and their place was on Jacklin Rd, right across from an oval race track, that became a school that became something else and today only reminder is that big tree, with it's huge knob in the trunk. I was though there 10 yrs ago and it still stood The Knotty Pine is gone (coffee shop on Goldstream Rd).. back then, they were clearing the right of way for what is now the main highway to Nanaimo. It comes within 100 feet of the North end of the lake. There used to be a few cabin type houses there, and you could only get there by rowboat or a half mile trail hike. Sad, but God is not making any more land I sat at the lake for half an hour, just looking at the 'scape remembering the earlier times, and before I left, I had to dry my eyes. Enjoy whatever is good today. because tomorrow it will be gone. R.I.P. to Grandad and Grandma. and now mom and dad.. I didn't plan to say all this, but sometimes you just gotta do it
