Leopard 53 PC (2020) - Test Video by BoatTEST.com
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The Leopard 53 Powercat succeeds one of the most popular cruising catamarans in the industry, the Leopard 51. She has the passenger space, stability, and efficiency that a customer would want in a power cat that measures 53’ 1” (16.18 m) long with a 25’2” (7.67 m) beam.

Great to see a test in those conditions. Love cats but nobody seems to review powered ones, this has made my day.
Impressive. I've never run my dual Yanmar 240HP diesels more than 2100 rpm on my 48 footer. Honestly, doing anything over 12 knots in my neck of the world will get your crew sick in no time...or lost at sea if they're not hanging on. Also, I'm not a fan of burning that much diesel to get some place faster. For me, a powercat is a slow cruiser, to live life existentially. For those who have commented that Cats are ugly, they are just different that what most people in North America are used to. In the Bahamas, Caribbean, and most other warm parts of the world, powercats are considered the most sexy. They are the SUVs of the boating world, if SUVs drove smoother than cars and better gas mileage too. Cats are more stable, get better fuel economy, and have more livable space per foot.

Great video Capt. Steve. Thanks.
Great job Capt.
Lovely boat. Excellent test video. Thank you.
Great channel!!
Hey Steve you look happy
Love this yacht ‼️
Nice boat, other than the missing bow thruster control in the salon. It did look like the ride was a bit thumping when you were heading into the swells, not a ride for long term if it can be avoided though you could easily see the easier ride with the following seas. What I don't understand is why powered catamarans are setup so you must be out in bad weather to have the best controls and systems. I think the lower helm should be equal in all aspects to the Flying bridge helm so in bad weather you have the same quality access, including display size, to the systems.

I think it's safe to say, the only time you'd need to use the bow thrusters, which were the only things missing from the lower helm, you'd be doing at such low speed, you'd be fine under the top cover. It might seem like a mistake to have them missing, but it's a great reminder that when you need to use them to dock, you really want to have the best visibility possible, and that comes from that flybridge.
I love these vids but yet, I agree, the music is too loud and tries to drown out Capt. larivee..
Fabulous ‼️
Nice boat is my dream
No wipers? Those salt covered windows would get real annoying real fast
looks like they need to incorporate spray rails into the hull for a dryer ride
Just add joystick controls and this would be a real winner
Fabulous ✨ ✌️
beauty. but, fixed position backs on helm seats seems like a simple missed opportunity.

Easy to fix in aftermarket but I agree you shouldn't have to. Owner Captains need a throne.
Can he reach the wheel on the flybridge?
what is the hull bottom like? Are the shafts exposed? Can you beach it? Will it sink if you hit a coral head with one of the shafts?
This thing is basically trans atlantic if you take it slow. That's pretty good for a 53ft power cat.

Can you do a review on the Iliad 50 power catamaran. Just to have comparison between the Leopard 53 and the Iliad 50

@@BoatTEST doubtless when you get your hands on a Silent Yacht you'll do a full test!!
I’d love to see a cat of this size somehow manage 4000 nm at 8 knots to travel around the world. For those people that can’t physically sail a yacht.

@@SomeTechGuy666 I said they do, this one might not from the factory but generally they can. Beyond that, even this one you can add more fuel tanks if you're going global. You DO know that, right? RIGHT? You an add fuel tanks that direct feed to the engines, you can add fuel tanks that you distil yourself into the fuel supply. There's an ocean crossing happing this year with Class A Hardy yachts. Their default range is insufficient, so they have had fuel tanks added. If you want a global cruiser just add fuel capacity. It's just NOT NEEDED for people who hug the coast, it's just an invasion of space and cost for no benefit.

Have a look at Long Reach power cats: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pYR6mcaAqpmtfrQ.html
They've done away with the adjustable height table in the saloon. The 51 had to option of turning that into a bed. The fixed wooden table looks nice, but I'd rather have the option of the saloon berth for two more overnight guests. Does Leopard offer that option? Also, is there an option for an electric induction cook top in the galley? The fly bridge has an electric grill. Not having to fool with propane tanks at all would be nice.

I'd rather have gas , no need to run genset all the time.

@@eddieelan8775 Solar panels and a bank of lithium batteries easily solves that problem. If you do it right, including high output alternators on the engines, you don't even need to buy a genset.
Wondering why Hinckley had so many issues with Yanmars.
first comment under new rules: why is the music so loud?
You said the bow thruster was missing from the helm but you used bow thrusters when docking ?

So, would this be viable as a trans Atlantic boat?

Power cats are the ugliest boats on the water by far; boats for people who don't really like being at sea. Plus, second-rate Yanmar and Lewmar mechanicals, one would be better served by buying a beach house.
