A lot of great features on the 40 PC from Leopard. I like a standard lower helm; I like tie opposing seating next to the helm; I like quick access to the foredeck through the center door from the main cabin. Access to the sides of the Yanmars looks tight though.

Now that I've read the review & watched the other related videos, a Kite-Sail System would be ideal for eco-friendly cruising, giving a nice 4-Knot boost to the cruising speed profiles.😉

Excellent review as always, my only complaint is the apparent short legs for a cruising vessel; ideal size for a weekender-extended isles visit but the short range compared to other comparable Cats & larger "Scandi Trawlers" is wanting IMHO. 🤔

What do you think of the build quality issues that have been discussed with leopards as well as warranty issues from Robertson and Caine?

I would have thought larger fuel capacity would be on there for off-shore runs (say, Key West to Dry Tortuga to Tampa). Over all, I like the boat. Would like to see a redesign of the staterooms for older people where one does not have to crawl into the beds from the end, but could have side space to get in and out of the beds. You did not mention AC or Heating. What are the spec's on those systems, and can the Genset handle them without having to give up some other appliance use? Seems to me the Dingy Davits were a little on the light-weight side also. Really think something that can handle up to 1k pounds would be more in line. (I know, sounds like I am complaining, I'm not though. I was just thinking about an older couple's comfort and ease of handling a boat that size.)

Like this option but my main issue is the lack of kitchen storage. That electrical panel should be relocated and the space made available for the kitchen storage.

Is the TV in the master on a swivel? Is it come out of that spot and turn towards the bed?

How does the water drain from the lower area of the steps to the foredeck? I’d be worried about drainage issues if you’re taking heavy spray.

That fuel consumption even at low speeds is atrocious compared to a sailing cat. Our Leopard 48 uses less than 10l an hour for 7-7.5kts (and less than 2l for 4.5kts on one engine btw). This thing is lighter, has way less draft and uses 53l for 10kts. It just feels wrong. 😮

I'd be, too, if it was an American vessel 😂

The 43' cat I was on had a very large drain just in front of the door.

@@spaRTan3246 No wonder. 48 LOA gives greater hull speed vs 40 LOA plus sailing cat has displacement hulls (vs. (semi) planning power cat hull) which gives it much better fuel efficency bellow and up to theoretical hull speed. On the other hand, if Leopard 40 PC had displacement hulls she would never reach 20+ knots speed. As always it's all about compromises.

Is there a displacement speed that gives any better range? 7/8knots better than .7? Range is the only negative I see.

yes but he didnt mention it. Probably similar to the 46 and 53.

I thought the same, plus the fuel capacity wasn’t mentioned either. Unusual, he normally does both fuel and best range at displacement speed. I also thought for a boat that size, a mono seems to have a more space and a much nicer fit out than the 40PC. I expected the cat to have more saloon space.

Master Stateroom, how the f do you watch tv? The ‘storage area’ will house the laundry and is a water tight crush compartment.

What would it take to measure/post trolling speed fuel consumption on a cruising vessel like it was done earlier? Or like other testers do: "At 1000 rpm, we slipped along at 5.7 knots making 4.8 mpg." Pfff...
