The bit with Jennifer Lawrence harping on the general charging them for snacks was easily the best part of this film. World’s about to end, and she’s still confused, like “he’s a three star general, why would he do that?” 😂🤣

Haha it became a running gag. Like when she's lying on the ground with Paul Atreides staring at the comet in the sky and you think she's going to say something profound, but she's still going on about being charged for free snacks.

@@DaneofHalves It is a satire and a real portrayal of society in these times. The comedy part is added so that people would actually watch it. Yes some of the reactions are exaggerated but the threat is also exaggerated, climate change is not as immediate as a extinction level comet, therefore people are less alarmed about it. This movie is a comedic but solemn warning to what could happen if we continue in this direction.

Technology is the only thing that will save the human race. Returning to the caves is only awaiting destruction we could have prevented. We can't reduce the consumption of energy, it will only increase in the future as we bring more people out of poverty. Therefore we need more power which will require clean technology of renewable energy and nuclear fusion. We need to advance medicine to eradicate diseases that plague humanity. Cancer, HIV and others in an endless line. We need the technology to produce more food from less land to feed an evergrowing human population. We need the technology to turn land more fertile and produce more clean water for countries that struggle to feed their own people. We need the technology to leave this planet and colonize others before the planet inevitable dies, which it will eventually regardless of human impact. Humanity cannot survive without technology moving forward. Stagnation means extinction.

A few days ago, I watched Don't look up, and I loved it, honestly I really appreciated seeing Leo, and Jennifer working together for first time, especially for a Netflix's movie. If you ask me about my thoughts on the film, I'll likely answer that it's the closest to our current reality "a world full of madness and stupidity".

This movie should be in the Drama section because it’s who we are right now. It’s the reality we live in and totally believable throughout their interactions with the government and the media. Most people do not want to hear anymore what doesn’t fit their “approved” list of contents and some politicians think everything can be fixed, weighed against other things when really, some things simply can’t.

How many of us have watched those epic end of the world movies like "Independance Day" and "Armageddon" where we all manage to come together despite our differences and fight a common threat? This is the opposite of that movie because we are at an opposite of that time. We would never be able to do that anymore and it is not just a Republican or a Democrat thing or even an American thing. Nations would outright refuse to work together to the bitter end. And a fair amount of every population would "scream.....you are sheep for believing in the scientist. I looked on the internet and know more then him. There is no threat."
