Featuring several musical guests, Leonard Cohen's Thanks For The Dance, is a remarkable new album which echoes the sounds of his catalogue, yet remains fresh, current and impactful.
The mini-documentary, “The Story of Thanks For The Dance,” was created in collaboration with France's La Blogothèque team.
Released in conjunction with the new album, the film includes interviews with producer Adam Cohen, engineer Michael Chaves and album contributors Leslie Feist, Daniel Lanois, Richard Reed Perry (Arcade Fire), Zac Rae (Death Cab For Cutie), Damien Rice and Patrick Watson. Each of those involved reflect on the journey, exploring their contributions and the meaning behind the album.

I am the generation that should have known him from the 1960s but somehow I missed him. Then.......I went to his concert in Weybridge, England in 2007(?) and again to his concert in Lucca, Italy, in 2013 or 14. Both those live performances touched me more than any other -live performance I have been to ....and I have seen many. Wonderful lyricist/poet, marvellous music and I play his music often. Thank you , Adam Cohen for your talent and respectful/valued work and I hope to hear more of your own music.

In 1980, Leonard use to have a beer at the Mexican restaurant, Le Tatou, in Mtl every day at 5. It was an honour for me to serve him day after day. He was in his thoughts and was always elegant in his being with me. Silence was our way of communicating. Love this wonderful human being.Thank you for this touching tribute.

Aritsts are not that different, except above a certain level where they can't get out without being chased/recognized by everybody and have fans chase them all the time. Mr. Cohen wasn't that... Heck, he was quite often in the presense of tons of regular folks, e.g. in the taverns in Hydra after the 70s (since his first time there he was anonymous)...

Mr Cohen spoke of the mystery of the human condition in a unique way, with tremendous compassion, seeming to understand something of its splendour without being blind to its degradation; that's why he is SO missed and why he is simply irreplaceable to many of us.

I started to feel even more drawn towards Leonard’s music , his humble soul .. I always adore his humbleness, I love every time he would take his hat off .. Who else was such a close personal friend to us all over our lifetimes ? Who made me cry and smile and see things anew? After absorbing Leonard's lyrics I noticed the types of things that he sang now made my own memories really stick . He made me a bit more of a poet. She gave me tea and oranges that came all the way from China type of observations made life more romantic! He is super amusing with only one or two brilliantly depressing songs...Famous blue raincoat is very brave for its gloomy atmosphere but what a radical message of forgiveness instead of angry jealousy. Love you Leonard..sincerely J Angus

Even the fact that you lived in Montreal during his life ispired envy in me. What kind of assistant? Teaching, personal...? We fans would be thankful for any story if you or your teacher would write them down.
