Featuring several musical guests, Leonard Cohen's Thanks For The Dance, is a remarkable new album which echoes the sounds of his catalogue, yet remains fresh, current and impactful.
The mini-documentary, “The Story of Thanks For The Dance,” was created in collaboration with France's La Blogothèque team.
Released in conjunction with the new album, the film includes interviews with producer Adam Cohen, engineer Michael Chaves and album contributors Leslie Feist, Daniel Lanois, Richard Reed Perry (Arcade Fire), Zac Rae (Death Cab For Cutie), Damien Rice and Patrick Watson. Each of those involved reflect on the journey, exploring their contributions and the meaning behind the album.

I have just found this story of Thanks for The Dance. It's beautifully put together. Big thanks to Adam for his dedication to giving us the last gift from his father.
I am the generation that should have known him from the 1960s but somehow I missed him. Then.......I went to his concert in Weybridge, England in 2007(?) and again to his concert in Lucca, Italy, in 2013 or 14. Both those live performances touched me more than any other -live performance I have been to ....and I have seen many. Wonderful lyricist/poet, marvellous music and I play his music often. Thank you , Adam Cohen for your talent and respectful/valued work and I hope to hear more of your own music.

Elohim Adonai is Good! God was so Good to Leonard. A man walking in the wilderness of life, but never forgot where he was rooted. Thanks for sharing the story behind this album.
In 1980, Leonard use to have a beer at the Mexican restaurant, Le Tatou, in Mtl every day at 5. It was an honour for me to serve him day after day. He was in his thoughts and was always elegant in his being with me. Silence was our way of communicating. Love this wonderful human being.Thank you for this touching tribute.

A man for all seasons, for all time. He's done more to heal my wounds and those given and received than any man or woman, from the tower of his songs.
If you listen to Leonard, if you listen to his songs, the fear of your own death is getting smaller. Thank you, Leonard for your life!

A BEAUTIFUL BITTERSWEET ALBUM. "...But you'll be hearing from me baby, long after I'm gone I'll be speaking to you sweetly from my window In the Tower of Song...."
I am 64 years young and his music and philosophy came to me at the age of 16 . Thanks god for a good guy
I had the the privilege to meet Mister Leonard COHEN two times. The last time in Colmar (France) I was invited to take the breakfast with him at the Hotel. I am Portuguese and Leonard lived in a Portuguese area in Montréal. He told me he love the Portuguese Food !! I will remeber that meeting all my life. He was the most respectful Artist I've meet in my career!!

@@leonoreklemchen1333 You introduce yourself, be kind, perhaps the other is in the mood for some smalltalk and company? Has happened to me lots of times with regular people. Aritsts are not that different, except above a certain level where they can't get out without being chased/recognized by everybody and have fans chase them all the time. Mr. Cohen wasn't that... Heck, he was quite often in the presense of tons of regular folks, e.g. in the taverns in Hydra after the 70s (since his first time there he was anonymous)...
Mr Cohen spoke of the mystery of the human condition in a unique way, with tremendous compassion, seeming to understand something of its splendour without being blind to its degradation; that's why he is SO missed and why he is simply irreplaceable to many of us.

Me too ! met him one time and he was so gracefull and humble in our brief encounter.
for all those who know that there is a secret language hidden in the mysteries of the heart- and have felt it’s sacred tongue vibrating on the lips of mr. leonard cohen, then you know that the sacred heart shall continue to beat in all of us who have found a refuge in the music, and will only bind us tighter as we all move together toward eternity.
is it normal to cry everytime i watch this? happy birthday, prophet
Leonard Cohen gave of himself in his poetry, music and generosity to his fans and his collaborators! I miss him so very much!
Thanks for everybody that contributed and allowed us to hear this wonderful one-of-a-kind album.
I am so happy Leonard left us with a goodbye. He says the goal is far from the reach. I believe he made and exceed the goal by leaving us this closure.
For some reason I have always felt that there is such a thin layer between alive and dead .. like the death is always just round the corner .. it’s strange to feel this way when you are very young but your soul feels so old .. felt like wanted to share this thought after watching this beautiful video .. I started to feel even more drawn towards Leonard’s music , his humble soul .. I always adore his humbleness, I love every time he would take his hat off .. I feel like his spirit is somewhere nearby .. watching over us 🙏😇
How I miss Leonard Cohen and his music. Loved his music but l always have respected his intellect and heart even more. His expressed values are familiar & comforting to me. My Dad was of the same mold. I miss them both.
Thanks for the dance of life - to all you dear people who let this come through! Darlings!

People, learn to dance! It's totally worth it and the emotions transported in this last album of Leonard Cohen are an effigy for it.
There's a Leonard Cohen marathon happening. Never thought I'd say this, but, Thank You VEVO.
Why do I still have to cry when I hear Our Beautiful Nightingale?! He helped me through LIFE, there was always a special song as my compagnon. It feels if You are still around us and I Promise to always keep YOU and your songs and poems alive ... We ALL Will.. . Thanks for the wonderful gifts you left us, always being Our Master... Thanks dear Adam and all the loyal, amazing Friends of Mr. Cohen for keeping your sacred Promise To your Father, to your Beloved Friend and for bringing us a Miracle .... And thank you, my long lost Friend Adriaan for giving me " Last Years Men". That's when a special "religion" for me began. Blessed Be; Althea)0(
Always a bright light in the darkest shadows
"Listen to the hummingbird whose wings we cannot see/ Listen to the Prince of Peace who gave His life for thee,,," We'll meet and talk.
There is music one listens to, but then there is music that becomes the companion of one’s life, music one lives through and learns how to live through. Cohen’s music was such a companion.

Can say one of the greatest human beings that I've ever met. Miss you Mr Cohen but you will always affect my life .love you and thank you for showing me the way through the darkness. And now I say through the cracks the light shines. You will never be forgotten. Eternal is your message and voyage. I hope we hear more friend, mentor, buddy
Unexpectedly strong album, the way they managed to complete the record without Leonard around in the studio surprised me even more than his poetry
LC is reminiscent of another legendary artist, Johnny Cash, who till his final days kept working, creating, seeking...100 years from now, when nearly all of today's chart toppers are long forgotten, people will still listen in wonder to his massive talent. "Everybody knows" that's true.
We will dance with you while you are gone because you left a legacy Dear Cohen.
An enigma … yet an amazing talented man. A gift to mankind by God. Leonard a Jew by birthright, yet always struggled to find through many paths as to what he believed in. His huge talent and intellect drew him to God. I respect his talent & his God given gift but so sad that his beloved muse - Marianne wasn’t sufficient for him.
And the spirit continues to live through us.. By making our hearts feel even more alive! Thanks for the Dance, thanks for the Dance of life*

We miss you sweet Leonard♥️♥️♥️♥️
...es ist ein alter Spaziergang , einer der ältesten überhaupt. Ihr hattet recht mit allem❤
THANKS for new songs....the great man never dies
What a wonderful way to see his mortal dance transcended into musical heaven
Who else was such a close personal friend to us all over our lifetimes ? Who made me cry and smile and see things anew? After absorbing Leonard's lyrics I noticed the types of things that he sang now made my own memories really stick . He made me a bit more of a poet. She gave me tea and oranges that came all the way from China type of observations made life more romantic! He is super amusing with only one or two brilliantly depressing songs...Famous blue raincoat is very brave for its gloomy atmosphere but what a radical message of forgiveness instead of angry jealousy. Love you Leonard..sincerely J Angus
He's voice is stunning. The depth and ruggedness in it.
For me he is alive through his music, his poetry. He remains one of my favorites up there with Brel, Aznavour ....
Thanks for the dance, beloved.

not just for the dance, but everything, thanks
A lot of the time the phrase "Beautiful Soul" is hurled about like manhole covers. Leonard would have caught his in midair, handed it back and gently said, "Maybe you should return this to its proper place!"
How lightly we’re all here, like leaves in the wind. At once green, in but a moment brown; at once fed, in another fading... As Lorca said, ‘ Green, green, I want you green. Green the wind: and green the bough...”. Cycles in time, cycles in righteousness. How do we cherish gold? First we lose it. Leonard was our green and our precious gold. Thanks for the dance Cohen clan!
I love you LEONARD. I miss you so much. Greetings from Perú.
