0:43 "his breakouts are so sh#t" - Bob Bowman (In my opinion though, he's not wrong) Edit: great Coach cause he's not afraid to tell the truth

I thin he should do 500 free, 200 free and 200 fly at NCAAs just to see how many NCAA records he can get in so many events ahaha

@@versonixVI he's never went sub 51 off a flat start for the 100br though, and he only went a 50 100br during his 200br... I wanna see him break the Hoosier's record.

So if he already has the 500 free NCAA record (his 4:06.18 would count as an NCAA record, right ?) wouldn’t he need to tackle a different event if the goal is most NCAA records ?

He shut the freestyle down. Way down. Great video though. Thanks.

Either he did a really poor job of pacing the first 200 (seems unlikely), just had an off swim / is tired from swimming two 500s (not convinced this is the case), or Bowman told him to take the first half out at max effort pace and then just win the event. Look at his kick and turns on free. Usually Marchand has a MONSTER 6 beat kick on free, but it wasn't there is this race, and his turns looked slow for him. Granted, he could just be tired and unrested for this meet, but his relay splits and his 500 free suggest that he is as good or better than he was at this point last year. I think he really wanted that 500 free record, and presumably wouldn't give less than 100% on a relay. But, he doesn't really need to go all out in a 400 IM at PAC 12s. He went 3:37 in early October after all ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/nKqf27CsdZPacrg.htmlsi=jxSmxXFAZi1PfK2E ). The only thing that makes me not so sure is that Bowman has said Marchand "goes to the well" every time he swims.

@@aperson5237 I used "shut down" b/c I believe he was not "hurting at the end" at all. I believe he purposely stopped trying, thus the "shut down" term used. I meant exactly what "shut down" means. He saw no need to push too hard at the end. Saving himself to blow it out at NCAA's.

It’s quite strange for a guy who Watch a video and didn’t know about this sport. Maybe they should bring some birds to help 😂
