Possibly the best chi sao demonstration film on KZread; the teaching is very clear. But the camera work and slo- mo of it is GOLD. Thank you and kudos to the camera crew. For those who scoff: As a horse trainer who has spent 30 years moving creatures 10 times my mass, I can tell you this WORKS. The point is to take the energy directed against you and turn it in service of your own objective. This “Magic” is a fact of physics. If one’s intention is to pursue open aggression and domination, through a display of force against force, then no, this is not your martial art. But if one’s objective is to co- opt or subvert, this places your “opponent’s” energy in service of your own agenda. In this way, one CAN make allies of enemies. This is an excellent demonstration.

Thanks for your supportive comments Max, the reason why i am teaching and making this video is bcos i hv seen so many rubbish kung fu out there and a lot of kung fu instructors are just teaching for money and open as many schools as possible. i would like to made a change to this kind of situation. I would like to show people that there are still good quality martial arts out there and everyone can learn if you hv the right heart to it.

I trained with Sifu Sam Kwok at Lancaster University and Leo would come by every few months to teach and to learn from Master Kwok, and I have to say I was very impressed with him even back then (this was about 8 years ago). He's very precise, extremely methodical, and a genuinely good teacher.

Love that, I have been practicing Chen style Tai Chi for nearly two years now on the South Coast of the UK. We have a similar friendly atmosphere in our school, I have also been lucky enough to train with Master Chen Bing from China and I can say that the friendly supportive attitude runs all the way to the top practitioners. Martial arts training has improved my over all health and physicality, but has also improved my attitude to work, family and over all life. TRY IT OUT :)

Sifu Leo, this is one of the best Wing Chun video I've seen on KZread. I love your approach and overall presentation, looks modern and "alive". It's also great to see intense training (and included conditioning) yet very friendly atmosphere. Last but not least, the fact that you let your students did the "drama" and you were totally omitted is an act of a true master. It takes wisdom and bravery. What YOU can do isn't that important, but what you can help your STUDENTS do means a lot!

Wing Chun is actually a martial which attacks people's weak point, that including eyes, groin etc, this cannot be compared to other combat sport which have certain rules. In the real fight, it is using shortest time to attack the weak point of the opponent

Wing chun is meant to be mixed with other internal and external southern and hasayfu styles, its why its currently a part of the choy li fut system. You stop at one martial art and master that only, you become severely limited. Its useful but by itself, it will eventually wane.

Hi Daniel. I've been practicing WC for over an year and it has proved a very effective system. WC has ground techniques but I never need to use it because I can finish my opponent before going to ground. If you find yourself thinking it's because you don't learn the movements by heart. WC is dynamic, WC is like the water, it finds its way through the obstacles. If you think, the obstacle will win, if you flow, you win.

I wish there was a good sifu in the Netherlands that could do this. There are no Chinese teachers here that can do this the way you do. The other teachers just teach their own ways, which is in my opinion wrong.... Keep going :)

thanks for your comment, i come from a traditional wing chun background but i am not just limit myself to traditional wing chun. Even Ip man have modified his wing chun after he met Leung Bik in Hong Kong. The most important point is do you able to use what you hv learnt in fighting situation. To me martial arts should hv no boundary and limitation, we should not get too attached to the name and particular fighting style. Any arts is good, it all depend on the fighter.

I've studied Wing Chun with 3 teachers. Whoever said that Sifu Leo uses too much force wasn't paying attention to the relaxed nature of his hands when he's ding Chi Sao. It's obvious that Sifu Leo is a very good technical teacher and also a very good personal teacher as well, as can be seen in the playful nature he exhibits and that is reflected back in his students.

Just watched the video and found it very informative. For all the hater comments, I think they are not looking beyond this video. I've seen the Ip Man movies and Leo has done a good job acting as advisor, as he had to teach actors the wing chun forms and techniques in a short space of time for the filming. Some may have been martial arts actors/performers already, but wing chun may not be their specialism
