Correction: 2242 m.2 isn’t “full-sized” but the middle size between 2230 (Steam Deck/Ally) and 2280 (actual full size). This channel is really going downhill! Also I called Cult of the Lamb the wrong game, forgive me. Finally, the device doesn’t have dual fans, just dual intake vents. I’ll look at that more when I tear it down for the review.

I totally agree, and I actually think the future of PC gaming in general in terms of hardware is in devices like this. That can also be attached to a larger screen if need be, essentially the switch idea. And you can easily turn this into a functional productivity PC just by pairing a keyboard and mouse to it and attaching it to a monitor.

I've been using it since Tuesday when it arrived and I have exactly the same thoughts, the most annoying cons: 1- The legion space software in general is laggy and it crashes very often, good thing is you don't necessarily have to use it 2- Right quick action button non sense, press it once to open a stupid menu, press it twice to actually adjust the settings that you want 3- Constantly unwanted pressing the back and side buttons on the right controller 4- If you want to use it as a tablet only there's no way to disable/disconnect the controllers, they always look for the device all the time 5- When using it as a tablet you always have to enable auto rotation for some reason I am keeping mine for now, but will not be selling my steam deck, actually now that I go back to the steam deck I really appreciate all the effort and thought that valve put in the software. If Lenovo doesn't deliver constant updates i might end up returning this or selling it.

I feel you dude, and I support your comment. I found the same issues annoying, same as you. It's a very overrated product. I find it so funny before release, how people already put it on a hi pedestal saying that it's the Rog killer and the best handheld 😂😂😂😂😂. I guess those people blew their load too early. What I do like about the system is the big screen. Also what made me pull the trigger was, I like how Lenovo added a 1TB off the bat , while at the same time Micro Center has 2tb models. I opted for the 2tb, it just made sense. I'm kinda on the fence between returning it or keeping it? It's hard to give up that 2tb and big screen but u gotta do what u gotta do right? Gameplay doesn't feel smooth at all on this thing. It suffered a lot. Switch is still King though can't wait for the switch 2 to spank these handhelds.

I agree had it two days now still not managed to play a game. Lords of the fallen prompted for driver updates. Took me to amd website and for some reason it downloaded amd nitro, made the game unplayable. Even had issues getting dave the diver to run, set legion res to 800p and dave the diver would launch in 1080p. Legion space is super annoying it's in usd dollar even though my settings are UK, it doesn't seem to really have a purpose apart from poppimg up and annoying me every 2 seconds. YOU HAVE TO Have THE CHARGING CABLE PLUGGED In to change the screens frame rate from 144 to 60 fps.... The in game overlays just AREN'T working for me (could be lords of fallen). The battery doesn't anticipate time remaining in desktop or overlay. Also the settings menu doesn't seem to have all the graphical systems you need. Some are tucked away in the windows settings. Most of the reviewers just didn't mention any of this. I'm very close to sending mine back. The steam deck took around 10 mins to set up was playing games in about 30 mins once downloaded. Very intuitive ui. Lenovo has already failed to supply updated launch drivers and that's at launch! sorry needed to rant! I may make a youtube vid covering the above

Good on you, Russ for catching your error with the storage drive, but for completion's sake, here are all the M.2 sizes: 2230 - Used in the Steam Deck and Ally. Up until the Steam Deck released 2230 drives could only really be found, by themselves, on sketchy Ebay listings. Max storage size is 2TBs. 2242 - Used in the Legion Go. Originally more common than 2230, max capacity is the same at 2TBs. 2260 - Not common at all, probably only found inside OEM products. Unknown max capacity. I think it might be getting phased out. 2280 - Easily the most common M.2 size. Basically used everywhere it will fit. Max capacity 8TBs. 22110 - This is the weird one. The biggest size, but doesn't have the biggest capacity. Instead it houses the "weird" capacities, like 1.92TBs or 3.84TBs. Max capacity 3.84TBs.

I think the biggest strength in the FPS mode is in RTS games. Micro managing units is so much harder on handhelds. The steamdeck's trackpads were the closest thing in the handheld space but i think this is where the Lenovo Go beats out the competition. Its a niche, but for me its a great. Combine that with the larger screen and battery and always having that "mouse" with you i think is why i ended up ordering it. From Lenovo's perspective the advertisement of FPS mode is appealing to the larger FPS market but a lot of modern FPS games typically already have controller support so it almost feels like a moot point unless you want to be more competitive/precise. In your second video i'd like to get your thoughts on more mouse dependent games (where controller support isn't natively supported). Starcraft, Red Alert, Rise of Nations, and Company of Heroes for example. I think it'll help in crafting the story of who this device is for. Great Vid!

Got my Legion Go 2 days ago. I've been playing company of heroes 3 in FPS mode. It's by far the the closest mouse experience when playing real time strategy games on a handheld. I'm able to confidently move around the map and micro manage units. This is much easier than the steam deck(which requires a lot of hours to just train yourself to your custom layout) Initial impressions: if you love RTS games(and controller support is not available ) and also love handhelds this is the only game in town in having a pretty seamless transition between desktop RTS gaming and handheld RTS gaming. I only have two handhelds but the steamdeck and Legion Go I believe are the only two handhelds that have legitimate solutions that try to close the gap of creating a genuine mouse like gaming experience on handhelds(without adding accessories). Hope this helps!

I own one, and I largely agree with your assessments. I think it functions really well docked and in hand held mode, it really balances both of those experiences well IMO. The screen is by far its best selling point, it doesn't feel as heavy as it is, and imo the controls are really good, with only the right controller and the d-pad having some issues (too many button on the right and d-pad not really pivoting). To me the biggest problem rn is the software, it needs some polish but to be honest I'm comparing it to the excellent software on the steam deck, so maybe I need to check my expectations and to Lenovo's credit they've already stated that improvements are on the way.

It's a tough balance, and very subjective. I want a little wiggle room, but not so much that it will cause accidental diagonals, plus some natural pivot. Sadly it's pretty rare to find that perfect combination, only a few devices a year actually hit it perfectly. But in the handheld PC space there are plenty that achieve this: Steam Deck, ROG Ally, AYANEO KUN, and AOKZOE A1 Pro all pass my testing.

For us who moved from a lifetime of PlayStation and this is our first PC ever not just a handheld, can we get a video explaining all the graphics settings and what do we need to change/adjust for general gaming and what’s needed to be changed for certain games to get the best performance out of this over both battery and plugged in? Since because of your enthusiasm and reviews I got one and I love it. But I’m so overwhelmed with how much I need to do/learn just to using it especially coming after 20 years of Sony PS plug n play.

Very good question! That was the first question I asked myself when I bought my unit. I sure hope they do, but it all depends on how successful the handheld is and how much Lenovo decodes to support it. Honestly, they need 3rd party to step in and make different joycons for them. Reason being, I think the stock controllers are too big, somewhat uncomfortable, I don't like the analogs, and the dpad is too stiff

This is exactly why I like my Steam Deck for majority of games I play as well. ROG Ally can take the heat with the new games, but it feels like the battery life is roughly the same no matter what game you play, whereas the Steam Deck may not be able to handle the most modern games as well as the ROG Ally, but you can get a lot more battery life depending on what you play.

Legion Space needs a bit of work like you pointed out and quite a lot of times I'm not getting the built in on-screen keyboard in many settings using the device. I HATE having to use window's OSK. I'm super happy tho with mine and with some minor adjustments this thing will be close to perfect for my use-case. Can't see myself ever using that gimmicky "FPS mode" either, not when my G502 is so easily portable, has plenty of buttons, and is perfectly ergonomic.

Much as i appreciate the innovations and gimmick that allows them to set themselves apart from most handheld PCs, i was initially hoping (specially after seeing that the GO is the same price as ally) that they went into the "keep it simple" way. I think if they kept the track pad but lose the detachable controllers (saving on parts, batteries etc), they could have priced themselves around 50 USD lower than the ally, making them basically the cheapest windows based handheld on the 7840u apu market, a market where price is a big factor given the big price range amongst all the handheld pc options. I hope another manufacturer enters the handheld market soon and goes in that "simple but affordable" direction, though i have a feeling that most are waiting for the 8xxx series or the rumored intel one with DGPU. Nevertheless, the segment is slowly growing and starting to break out of the "niche" segment which is a good thing for us gamers.

Great unbias review! When playing in handheld / fps mode, do most games already auto bind the buttons? I know for the ROG ALLY, most games are just pick up and go without needing to bind. Seems like there aren't enough buttons on fps mode to bind everything for some games with alot of bindings.

18:06 - To be honest I get the feeling you'd probably have a better experience in tabletop mode just using a tabletop mouse. The right controller being in your hand will still be useful in that case. Vertical mice that you hold like that are a real thing btw. They're usually not used for gaming though, they're meant to be more ergonomic and reduce wrist injury for those of us who have not destroyed their wrists with a lifetime of computer work. (I am not one of those people.) Usually vertical mice aren't like gun handles though they're more angled, though there is that one gimmicky mouse, the Ragnok, that is made like a gun handle on purpose. :D

One thing that pissed me off about the controllers, is where they put the start/select buttons. They're on the left side, below the directional pad. What you would think are the start/select buttons are the shortcut buttons to Lenovo's software and settings toggle. Playing games like "Bloodstain'd: Ritual of The Night", I CONSTANTLY kept hitting the left and right buttons for the lenovo crap. Lots of other things I'm not loving about this handheld. I own 4 Decks, 1 ROG Ally, and of course 1 of these. So far, the Deck is the winner of the 3 for me.

Fun fact when it charges it flashes the charging screen and then keeps the pc in off mode unless you deliberately turn it on so it is safe to charge while in the case. I experimented with it and confirmed. The only drawback is the default power button is sleep mode so the analog sticks and the power lights will keep lit. So i change the power button to hibernate.
