Thumbs up! Question... because obviously you know what you are doing and I don't lol. I just upgraded mine with an SSD and new ram(after taking a course in A+ and thinking of changing careers before I realized no way because I over estimated my intelligence level lmao). Still I took the upgrade project on of my old Lenovo out of boredom and was successful. But now my fans are running hot. The Lenovo is lightening speed btw so patting myself on back for that, did well lol. I seem to recall though in class about maybe the cpu can't handle what I did- its vague and I cannot remember. Thoughts? Should I upgrade the CPU and what to?

i know im late but regardless, you can put in an 8 gb so dimm memory stick, the laptop supports up to 1600mhz ddr3, and you can also add an ssd

Do you happen to know if it's possible to upgrade the B590's GPU? In my B590, the CPU is not the problem because it came with i5 already installed, but I would like to upgrade the GPU. It has integrated Intel Graphics 4000 and a NVIDIA chip, the GT 720M, which is very likely soldered to the motherboard. I noticed it would actually be a decent gaming laptop if it wasn't for the 720M, which isn't really meant for gaming. When playing intensive games at high settings, the 720M will be maxed out at 100% usage, while the CPU won't even be at 40% and neither will be the RAM. The system could go MUCH further without the 720M bottlenecking it! So I would love to upgrade it... Seeing how you're familiar with the inside of the thing - do you think it can be done???

I don't think it will because since the board was designed for the 720M. That would be a big risk trying to do that.

Sure, just remove the modules and replace them with new ones. I am currently using 2 x 4GB in it right now. Watch from this point 1:20 and you will see how to remove and 9:50 to replace.

@@TheFelix63 ok però mi sono accorto di avere HM70, quindi a quanto pare nessun upgrade. Parto con un Pentium 2020m e avrei voluto almeno mettere un Core i3-3120 (scelto tra i "papabili" per la temperatura, uguale al 2020m, da sito intel). Ma a quanto pare il chipset HM70 blocca tutto, è corretto?

The main reason for selecting this CPU was compatability and it is the CPU that came into some of these same laptops. I have seen were persons installing i7 and are having alot of issues (freezing, overheating & frequent reboots).

Much better than a i3 and it is able to playback 4k videos. It is what I use to edit all the videos on my channel without any issue.

The Intel Core-i5 3230M, 16 MB RAM and a SSD. So you can install Windows 11, it runs as fast as Windows 10. But be careful, my B590 came with the Core i5. After an upgrade, the laptop may restart every 30 minutes. My mainbord has the number 627439G.

No, it is a 20208 motherboard. For 20206, 2nd generation intel is better because 3rd generation closing in 30 minutes.

@@johnjohn-mz9rm Here are two motherboard options. Compare with the motherboard of your laptop on the ports and mounting screws. I advise you to buy a card with a video card (GPU) GeForce 640M 2GB - it is more powerful than the GF 720. For this card you can buy i5-3360m / i5-3380m. For i7 you need powerful cooling tubes and they are not needed - this is not a gaming laptop.
