Lempuyang Temple (Gate of Heaven) locally known as Pura Luhur Lempuyang is one of Bali’s oldest and most highly regarded temples. It is also believed to predate the majority of Hindu temples on the island, and the six holiest places of worship on Bali.
The entire landscape looks very picturesque from this temple gate, and that gate also known to the western world as "The Gates of Heaven". The gates and its temple located in eastern part of the of Bali within the highlands of Mount Lempuyang, which sitting at a cool 1,775m above sea level.
The whole complex complex that is made up of seven different sanctuaries, this temple offers visitors one of the most breathtaking views from any of the temples in Bali.
On the slopes of Mount Lempuyang sits Pura Lempuyang Luhur, otherwise known as Lempuyang Temple. This is one of the key nine directional temples on the island of Bali, where you can find the famous Gate of Heaven and grants spectacular sunset views at dusk as it is situated high on the mountain slope.
There are two sections to the temple, a lower level and an upper level. The latter is worth the climb up the seemingly infinite staircase - this is definitely a temple with a view.

Hi Andreas Tano, Yes we are quite lucky as we visited in the end of March and apparently not a lot tourists by then. But now we heard, it’s getting a lot busier with tourists.

Hi Ophelia, we also thought there’s a big pond of water in front of those gates prior to our visit there. But turned out, it’s just a normal floor with photographers there help you to take nice reflection photos using a mirror to appear as such. It’s quite disappointing tbh 😅
How much you have to pay for changing to Ballines outfit per person? So how much total you pay for all cost from 1st entrance till the changing outfit? Don't you have to pay for shuttle bus from parking area till the next entrance to the hiking to the temple isn't ?
May i know where you stay? At what time you left from hotel and at what time you received their..

Hi Neha, we stayed around Canggu at that time of visit and we left our villa like 3AM and reached there around 6AM.

@@weekendtraveller6122 I think it should be safe to travel at 3AM, but for us we booked a private driver to drive us around for the day as we explored some other places after visit to temple. Anyway, drive safe guys ✌️

This temple is a tourist trap. In reality, there is no water at the Temple at all. All those photos you see on the Internet or Instagram are taken with a mirror, giving the impression of a reflection on water. The photographer of Lempuyang Temple places the mirror beneath the tourists' camera to give it the mirrored effect, which is very misleading.
