Not to be the Actually Guy, but the Leman Russ is what is driven by the standard troops aka the Guard. Marines have their own version, but it's a completely different tank.

Just see a video about all factions, its very interesting, wasnt my cup of the either but the story is so good, became a fan.

Correction The Leman Russ is the battle tank of the Imperial Guard (the normal human armies of the Imperium in 40k) Space Marines have a wide variety, namely the Predator, which I believe would be what the Space Marine tank in this crossover is based on. That or a Repulsor, but at the end of the day they’re pretty much the same thing

I appreciate it that they did nothing to make the tank actually look like it should be in the game. Like they literally just took the tabletop model and 1-1 put it in the game, which naturally has to be kinda goofy and cartoony because you have to paint it, and slapped it next to a pretty faithfully recreated Panzer IV and just didn’t expect us to notice lol.

2.1 on soft terrain actually is pretty good for a heavy tank. Above average I‘d say. Anything below 2.4 is actually good for a heavy tank.

If the Leman Russ had the correct Warhammer armour model it would be unpennable in cold war, let alone WWII!

Gun depression is 7degrees, think it's less over the side tho.

Wiggle them gun ports, it has good power-to-weight. I'm not really that interested in these tanks but still nice to see how they're like.

My first encounter with this tank was with my E100. I HE spammed the tank to the point where it went from being full health down to 300HP. From what I'm seeing so far, this tank is strong frontaly, but at the same time it's a very huge target. A lot of the damage I've been doing to these tanks is by HE spamming their turret while they try to fire from behind a hill at me.

wish this was available to have the side guns like the forat edit: I know the Forat has no side guns, I mean the fact that it has machine guns (in warhammer you can replace the guns on the sides eith other options like additional heavy bolters)

Wish we could use the bolters (the autoguns on the front/sponsons), especially since they JUST came out with the FORAD, but ah well... the aesthetic of these tanks is SPOT on. Looks like how an 8 year old would draw a tank, and I am totally here for it, lol. I know its not everyones cup of tea, but WG's crossovers with WH40k usually have been really well done as far as the aesthetics and VO work goes, and this one hasn't disappointed.

It's pretty similar to World War 1 tanks, but with a proper turret.

It’s astra militarum aka the imperial guard. Not the ultra marines. Way way wayyyy back in the day the space wolves could take them but that’s no longer a thing.

I don't know if this has any relevance but one particular mission I was using a tier 8 mercenary tank. A shot from an enemy tank came close but missed me. Nevertheless, half of my hit points disappeared. Perhaps these are glitches in the program which need to be patched. Just a thought.

Well this is a really good Breakdown of the lemon Russ it a little misleading I'm new here so maybe I'm just out of the loop but when he going on about the pen and armor He's assuming it's a 1 on 1 fight on flat ground both tanks face in each other head on with no angling with no Commander or equipment which never happens he get alot right T8 and 9 have almost no change to win but this thing moves faster than you think It can also make great use of low wall And other tank down tank as cover It can reposition quick and see over lot If you charge straight in yes you're dead you're a big target but wait and flank the front line you become a real menace and DO THE EMPEROR PROUD BROTHER

I think the Astartes don´t use much Machinery, they ARE the machinery. The Leman Russ is definitely part of the Astra Militarum first and foremost. But this is definitely not a realistc version of this Tank, because if it were, noone would be able to pen it anywhere.

I really don't know much about WH40k tbh, so you've lost me on that one!

I logged in to take a look at the tanks, particularly the Nemesis. I thought, alright I fancy getting back into this game again. Anyways, I looked at the prices for these tanks. Fucking ridiculous. Honestly, they cost more than a AAA game. So yeah, I logged back out and won't be back for sometime.

The nemesis will get cheaper when the event unlocked a discount on it. But it is indeed a heavy price. Personally i am going to wait as long as possible before i think about buying anything.

Same price as every other Tier X Prem when theyve been sold for gold unfortunately. (Well this at 16.000 is actually one of the cheapest ones.) Always never worth the cost. Nemesis you can unlock a 50% discount when everyone hits a certain point which will bring it down to tier 8 heavy costs

Shame the multimeltas don’t work at close range it would be a nightmare

I turned that off when I first came back to playing it from PC in 2015. Aim assist is disgusting. Hinders you in far too many situations.

Honnestly disappointing. They hyped it up so much and made it so expensive yet it's armour is honnestly lackluster it's only functional gun isn't anything to fear despite is gargantuan size. It's to the point I could make the argument it's just a type 4 but with a worse gun for speed If it had all guns working with either: A better gun statistics that actually fit the gun Or Better armour It probably may be worth it's already high price But as it stands I'm likely rolling with Nemesis then

It's actually one of the Cheapest tier X prems for when they've charged gold (most are 18-22k gold, 18k if convert full free xp) But yeh the armour is one of those where it's godly or gets wrecked which can be frustrating.

Basically, unless you’re a diehard collector or warhammer fan, don’t bother with it. Don’t waste your money. The QL laughs at this thing every time they meet face to face. Way higher alpha, faster reload, higher mobility and still very decent armor. And it can be had for free or free xp. I feel like these tanks should’ve been in the Cold War mode instead.

Update Edit: To be clear, it is NOT that this is a bad tank. It's a good tank. It's the fact that I am bad in this tank. After reflection, the 7 degrees of gun depression has me making dumb plays. I have not altered the rant, so that you may laugh at my malding. GG. This tank seems like a massive overreaction to the AVRE. The AVRE has damn near no weakspots and this thing is COVERED in weakspots. The role of this tank in 40k is as an assault vehicle. You can't really play this thing as assault because its armor model is bad. You can't sidescrape because of the side guns. You can frontal scrape because of the front hull-turret weakspot. You can't ridgeline because it has only 7 deg of depression. There is literally no way to poke that DOESN'T MASSIVELY expose a weakspot. You can't brawl because the frontal armor just isn't thick enough. If normal shells go straight through the front of the tank, what is the point of having weakspots??? The only positive about this tank is the DPM. Warhammer 40k should be pissed their tank is garbage. The AVRE could go 3 or 4 vs 1 against this tank and win. Only 232 standard pen in a SEVENTY FIVE DOLLAR tier 10 premium tank are you KIDDING ME? Leman Russ is an incredibly important figure in the books and the lore. This tank should be called Lemon Dust. Am I malding because WG served up a turd in Warhammer's face. Yes. Yes i'm malding. Bite me.

@@Petty360 @Petty360 Yeah I was malding. It is not a terrible tank but everything but the dpm is either bad or very mediocre. The armor model looks excellent at first glance, but it is bad in game. The flat strips of armor make it penable by things you would never expect. Anyone loading gold goes right through it even many tier 8s and almost all tier 9s. My biggest complaint is that the weaknesses on it prevent a playstyle. The side weaknesses stop you from sidescraping. The frontal weakness prevents you from angling the front around corners. The lack of gun depression prevents ridgeline play. It doesn't have a "right way to play." Its playstyle is basically to wait until other people have shot to peek and wiggle when people are shooting at you. It lacks an identity from method of play and that makes it feel like a pretty soulless tank. Compare this to any other tank, and their role is obvious. E5 - protect lower hull, wiggle turret Maus - Sidescrape, tank for your team. 277 - poke at an angle makes your upper hull crazy strong. Use that gnarly dpm. IS7 - assault, hull down, and sidescrape Chieftan mk6 - Hull down mid range DPM. Crater gremlin. Kranvagn - Hill gremlin E6 - sneak, scout, dpm E4 - heavy tank TD hybrid. Trade master. Hull down. E100 - Sidescrape and trade 60tp - Hull down monster. Sidescraping beast. Trade winner. M48A5 - Hull down, great dpm, great for locking down large areas and preventing the other team from pushing using view range. Give enemy lights a very hard time. STB1 - Nasty ridgeliner AMX50b - Skill required - Opportunist and counter monster. The right push at the right time is MEAN. The Leman Russ just doesn't have an identity. Yes it is an assault tank, but it has weakspots that make assault not a good idea. It can't facehug either.

@@risingwind8943 I actually really like your breakdown of the Russ. The only thing I will add is that it's unique nature in the game I think is actually the thing that gives it its identity. It is not specialized, for anything. It just is. It can work well, if you can actually find something to hide the ridiculous hull behind. And the nature of the hull means going out at a frankly stupid angle for any other tank actually can bounce a fair amount of shots, you just have to play like you have palsy and at the correct angle, no different than the O-Ho. The tracks can actually tank quite a bit of damage if poked out. The gun could use some love, possibly a bit better HE shell; and most definitely it's sponson guns. It's not anything groundbreaking, but it feels actually like something old wargaming would release. A tank that has flaws, but looks cool and has a few things going for it.

its an insane tank, oddly hard to pen. the gun is garbage though and you have to load premium if you want to do anything. i think its a bad tank for the health of the game but not because the tank itself is problematic. more because wg refuses to actually balance random battles so you get some really messed up matches and seeing multiple leman or multiple of the other tanks (nemesis!) it makes me want to just uninstall. the balance of the game has been going downhill with every tank they release, one derpy tank wont ruin a match but with every new season we see one or two new tanks that are just cancer. youll see a variety of tanks but theyre all awful to play against like the avre. theyve been slowly removing any skill gap

I think the armour on this tank is good but there's lots of weakspots to pick from, it'll get found out. The NEMESIS can hit hard but it's armour is really lacking and very easy to manipulate free damage off it

for me the game has been lost since the centurion avre I support the taran well for not being so annoying but he does the damage of a level 100 anti-tank and it is impossible to fight with a level 8 as soon as I saw this tank I said this is already ridiculous That doesn't even belong to the second world war... it's a copy of a tank from the first world war called mark 1 but reduced as a version for children
