I have the mini evo by Fuji. Same buttons, same simulations, same sensor, everything same. Just fuji copy, but points are for Fuji now... Give money just for Leica sign :-)

Exactly 👍🏼 however as I said this is a collaboration - not a copy. They worked on it together with Fuji and the finishing, looks and feel is much more premium. It is plastic like the evo, same features and same everything otherwise (again, same because it’s a collaboration). The price is not the same though 😅 take care

Nice video, I'm on the list for one being a Leica shooter. But, can you tell me is it just automatic exposure only, or does it have A, S, P modes? Cheers

Still not decided between the red or black version. I was reading the product specifications at Leica and it’s not clear if the Sofort 2 can be used while charging on the go with a powerbank. Have you any experience?

Both colors are amazing indeed! Honestly don’t think you’ll need to charge it while using it. You can shoot over 100 photos on one charge (that’s a lot) and maybe even more. Takes 2.5 hours to charge fully. Didn’t try though so can’t tell sorry. Take care

Thanks for the review and I’ve just now ordered the Leica Sofort 2 in the black colour. If like me you keep a large journal, or diary, this is going to be great for taking wee photos of adventures and sticking them in there for future enjoyment.

Hello, it was a collaboration with Fujifilm so it’s about the same other than like you said the shell and the lens. So don’t think it’d be worth it. Cheers

Nice video of the Sofort 2. It's a collaboration between Leica and Fujifilm. The instax mini Evo looks a bit like a small X100 camera while the Leica Sofort 2, for my taste, has a nicer design. As with the first version of the Leica Sofort it is noticeable that there is not a single screw to be seen. There is with a mini 90 or mini Evo, though. A hybrid device indeed has many advantages. The Sofort will be available at a (considerable) higher price, but if you like it, and can afford it, get one. An instant camera is such a lot of fun guaranteed. I am tempted...

Great review! It is however, disappointing that the battery is not changeable. Eventually the battery is going to die, then what? The camera is a great idea, but what good is it when the battery goes? And it will eventually go... This is in no way a negative reflection of your review.

Hello! Thanks. It ain't a bad point on my review for a couple reasons: a) the battery can be changed if sent back to Leica b) I have had cameras like this one for years (over 10) and am still using the original battery. That means that by the time the battery cannot be used anymore (and we're not talking an SL2 or any other high performance camera here) the camera might become obsolete and/or am sure you can find someone that will replace it (it's kinda like looking at the batteries we currently use on any camera and thinking that in a few years from now they won't be produced anymore anyway - know what I mean?) It's the same as for the Fuji Evo, with the difference that the Leica version costs more than double. Take care

Do I have to have film in it to use? Or just have it digitally for the film effect?

No you can use it as a regular camera even without film. Of course if you want to print you’ll need film but otherwise you cans still save the photos internally or on a memory card.

The EVO is cool - however beware as after a while the rollers can loosen and all your prints will be black - I have had three now - all under warranty - I am a pro and use this for many things and do print a lot of pics - can't say wether this will happen with the Leica but one assumes the tech is the same - as for effects the Fuji has a few more up its sleeve as by turning the front lens you can access a few more and you can combine them with the ones in the sub menu

Thanks for sharing the info - didn't know that! I havent used it long enough to see those issues but I guess time will tell. Regarding the front lens, you can do that on the Sofort 2 as well (same as the Evo). Take care!

in this video, WHICH I LOVED, covered all points I'd have to ask...so my 1 question is... it's not my machine or monitor as I have a 24" M1 imac, great screen, but the RED looks Orange? why? so if I order RED it is RED as lets say... Blood ? again, Great Video..... I am in Canada and its going for 525 here.... pre-order for Nov 1st....or was it 9th.... anyway... CIAO..... oh and WOW I love that you answer all those who comment.....

Thanks a lot! Yes it is blood red 😁 it’s just my personal color grading that makes it orange but if you look at the thumbnail (or the section about the body color) you can see the type of red 😅 great little camera am sure you going to enjoy it! Cheers all the way to Canada 🇨🇦

I used a 16gb memory card. On their website they mean to say that you can store approx 850 images on a 1GB card but I used larger ones. Cheers

Should have designed the Sofort with Leica Q3’s 60MP triple resolution sensor. Use it like a zoom lens and crop to infinity. 😁

Is there any difference in image quality between these digital hybrid cameras than a purely analog instant film cameras? The vintage analog look of the instant pictures is what we like about our old instax but it would be nice to pick and choose the images that come out. Just don't want photos that look "digital" if that makes sense.

To be honest, it is not the same feeling when you can chose the "best" photo and the printing of the older ones (with no screen) seem a little more "analog" to me. That said, this brings a lot of creative possibilities to the table vs the older models. Cheers

I don’t want to put random photos and the ones that mater usually include my kids and family. It’s a regular fujifilm instax film - not much to show there 🤷🏻

The main difference I’m understanding is that the Leica camera is also a digital camera but Fuji Evo requires you to print photos if you want the digital copy which will have the instax frame.

Hello 👋🏼 no same exact thing between the 2 (no need to print on the evo - it has a memory card too). Leica is a little more premium on the finishing, that’s pretty much it. It’s a collaboration between the 2 brands. Cheers

Hello 👋🏼 thanks. It really just comes out and you have to wait a couple of minutes - not much to see there. However, you can check my review of the Fujifilm Instax Evo in this channel where I show an example of how it prints (if I recall right). They are collaborating on this product so it’s the same! @@GotAUkulelethe same could be said about phones, TVs, watches, lawnmowers…Buy what you want to buy/can afford. Having choice is important. I’d personally pay the extra because I do prefer the design of the Leica and there is nothing wrong with that.

Di base è stato una collaborazione con Fuji quindi è più o meno la stessa cosa. Se hai un evo non penso cambi niente (cioè è soltanto il marchio che cambia come dici giustamente e l’estetica un po’)

Yes - but doesn’t have the same finishing and premium feel and - most of all - it’s a Leica. If you can afford it - why not? Other than that, yes it’s the same functions and results. It’s a collaboration between the 2 brands hence the similarities. Ps: why “poor” rebranded Evo? What’s poor about it?

@@cris_photography By poor i mean: 1) the concept about being the exactly same product without adding anything different to justify the project. 2) Style - as you also pointed out looks more like an ordinary instax camera for kids but with a more expensive price tag (if the price was less it would be understandable and not like a cheap generic plastic camera). 3) Leica has this premium stylish and unique concept because it is Leica, this camera has nothing like that sadly, meaning when you touch, hold any LEICA you can feel THIS IS LEICA and not a camera because the brand gives this feeling.

@Edvanfleury very true on the Leica quality. I guess it’s more of a “I can do I buy this instead of Fuji” type of thing for most. The concept is - in fact - a “cheap” camera for anyone for an affordable price that costs a lot. Not for everyone I guess. Personally I love my Evo and I wouldn’t change, but if I could chose and had the funds I’d prolly go with the Leica one 🤷🏻😊 Take care and thanks for sharing!

It’s more than just the utility of it though. It’s the joy of using such a camera. It’s the excitement of owning a Leica (even if it’s a plastic insta camera). It’s just something different than the norm - the norm is fine, but kind of boring.

WHY .... WHY ... Fuji for GOD SAKE, make a Wide format new camera . Leica ?!?! why ?!?!!? LEICA make this camera in WIDE format , way better

Prolly because the main target audience is not pro photographers or people that want a big format - that’s all. It is very hip and in fashion for youngsters to use these and the costs and size would turn them down. That’s my take but don’t think am far from the truth! Cheers

Just looked at the price of this thing. It's utterly batsh!t. Only Leica can take the sh!ttiest camera they could find and charge so much for it just because it says 'Leica' on it.

I megapixel non c’entrano niente visto che si stampa su una pellicola! Quindi anche se avesse 100mp non si verrebbe sul film. Così i files uno se li può tenere e se vuole stampare - stampa. Cosa non fa senso?
