Leica Captivate Configure for Base Rover RTK Radio Operation

Video describes the process of configuring Leica Captivate for base and rover RTK surveying utilizing the interal radio on a GS18I GNSS receiver. The GS18I has a 403 - 470 mHZ UHF and 900 mHZ spread spectrum internal radio option. An external 35 watt UHF radio is also available for purchase. Local laws governing radio operation should be consulted prior to programming and using this configuration.

    Using UHF or Spread Spectrum radios you can operate an unlimited number of rovers from a single base. Just make sure all rovers have the same radio settings.

    Thanks for the video. Do you know what the process would be to use the GS18 as the base for say a DJI Drone?

    Assuming that you are going to post process the GNSS data from your drone you can set your Leica GNSS unit (GS14, 15, 16, and 18) as static receiver. This video link shows how to configure these units for static observations: kzread.info/dash/bejne/aoCjrNmacqaxqLg.html I would recommend a 1 second observation rate. Does your drone support RTK corrections? If so, you may need help from your drone vendor to setup RTK operations. Leica Captivate with our GNSS receivers can support several types of RTK base station configurations including UHF (403 - 470 mHZ) and cellular. There are also SpreadSpectrum radio (900 mHZ) options for some Leica receivers.

    thank you so much for the video, you are amazing. I have a GS15 which is normally used as Rover but in an attempt to set it up as base, on getting to CONTROL-SETTING for radio frequency settings an error was returned "Configuration not possible, current radio firmware not possible". pls, what do I do in this situation?

    Thanks for the feedback. Are you using an external radio with the GS15? If so, do you have the correct device selected? If you're not using an external radio, are you sure that the GS15 has an internal radio? They didn't include one as a default. You had to purchase this separately?
