LEGO Train Yard Details & Intense Water Tile

Ойын-сауық

In this LEGO city update I continue working on the harbor and train yard! I start the changes by giving the boats more space by moving the piers. After that I upgrade the large over heard crane and it's buildings, test a new water style using dark trans blue tiles, upgrade the control tower, and tile off the entire harbor. Some progress was made and I can't wait to continue!

    Dude, that deep blue water plate looks so much better than having it all light blue. The harbor would also have some light chop water from all the ships coming in and out of the harbor. That looks so good!

    Hi Bricksie. The deep water test plate has worked out beautifully. I love it. It will need a bit more movement of the waves, but it's lovely. The harbour and train yard are looking great with all the detail! Wow! All the best to Jose for her surgery. Hope everything goes well and she has a speedy recovery.

    First of all, sorry that your favourite team didn't end up winning the cup last night. I was rooting for them even though I don't much follow Men's hockey. The dark blue for the deep water looks really really great! Please keep doing that. And with regards to inserting boats, I know it's a lot of work but in the end, you will be so proud that you did it. Remember how you felt when you finally detailed the beach or the campground or the old medieval area when you did all the grass and gravel details. You have never done things half-assed or shied away from a build challenge before. Don't start now!!! Loving the way things are turning out and honestly, your content has gotten so much more interesting now that you are in the new studio. I don;t know what it is, but the old Lego room was holding you back and now I feel like you are free to spread your wings!

    The yellow crain with tracks looks amazing, as well as the rest of the harbor so far! One small suggestion, I would make it longer in order to serve both the trains and I would change the position of the red office building below the crain, because as of now the trucks have no where to go to receice the containers. You could use the middle raised part between the trains as a pull-in for trucks to get loaded with containers, and maybe the red building could go on the end near the the train yard. Great work as always!!!

    Maybe you could separate the boatyard from the private boat marine and have them placed in two different parts of the whole "island", or maybe you don't see it as an island at all. But it feels like they could be separate, one having a restaurant and those sorts of things and the other one being for proper ships and cargo. Otherwise it feels like you are doing the same city just larger, which isn't bad but you may improve a lot by viewing it as something larger, even separating two separate small centers of modulars for example, like one with MOCs and the other one as it is now. The mountain could be in the middle of the "island" and you could have the harbour way back near some cliffs and another lighthouse. Keep it going, love to follow your channel!

    One thing I'm missing on the portal and harbor cranes - they only seem to be serving one type of vehicle each. A crane is expected to move freight from one vehicle to another, so it should be able to have two vehicles (or a vehicle and a storage spot) in range. For the same reason, that low building is taking up way too much of the space under the portal crane.

    Sounds like your need to do a mini mils plate just for the boat and have all the water done similar so that you can move the boats around and change directions without having to rebuild plates. Who would have thought that so much dark gray would be interesting. Personally I preferred the docks without all the tiles. I felt it looked more interesting and rough looking. But I understand to need to have smooth roads for the loading trucks. If you are building shipping containers you need to build a forklift to move them around. Sorry the Oilers lost. It was a really good game though. As they say the 4th game is the hardest. Florida needed 4 tries to win that one. Your Oilers were so spent by the final two minutes they had nothing left. The bittersweet MVP for McDavid is a tough one in the loss. He played with such determination the entire playoffs.

    Great job on the cranes they look amazing!. i would only suggest that you do something with the docks for small boats. They look so cramped up. Maybe take the second dock (the one closes to the crane dock and make an L shape dock with the next one. This way it will have more space and you can have boaats on both sides. One more thing the green red light you mentioned is probably for the trains to know when to go and when not to go so you should probably turn it around so it is parallel to the train tracks. But all in all the city is coming out great. Keep up the good work!

    Great to see the progression Bricksie in the new unit and city, how about a storage system under the work top tables you currently have downstairs next to the city with any overflowing parts and not regular use parts to be stored upstairs out the way, just a suggestion then you potentially have double to the amount of strorage for various parts, keep up the amazing content !!

  • @rbleisem
    @rbleisem5 күн бұрын

    Bricksie, you might not have the parts for the channel, but you could play with the houses & roads, on the wall side, it's layout. I would suggest removing the 000 setup and going ===== instead, there. It would solve several of your problems, all at ones. As for the wrecked boat, it's reconstruction, can it be made longer? And create a Expedition corner in the harbour, for say four ships or so, then get that Polar Exploration Ship. Then create a yach harbour near the fairy wheel, since yachts don't belong in a cargoship harbour. Separate them, makes it both easier in view & gives you some more action scenes.

  • @DavidWilliams-nx8ji

    I agree with others. A seperate industrial harbour and marina for leisure boats would be better. The beach stretching the whole width too. I'd also set the lighthouse back a baseplate so the water is navigable. I think the ferris wheel needs moving, maybe to a pier.

    The port set you have had a partner set out at the same time way back in the 90s, it had a blue ship and a yellow crane - that crane design would work very well on another jetty (and fits perfectly over the harbour plates) but I suspect the four yellow supports may be fairly pricey these days.

    The dark blue looks amazing. You'll probably need to experiment with the edges near the rocks to blend it in, but that's *perfect* for the deep water. For the water and boat detail, rather than try to dig into the tiles too much, why not build *upwards*? When you've got boats moving around you've always got waves. So you could build some extra water detail around the boats, and then some other 'empty' waves out of transparent bricks/plates/tiles. Then they're all movable.
