    The issue running them both over the carpet is that plastic tracks are much more prone for slipping than the soft rubber tires

    They would be so grippy, the big Lego tyres are so soft when I had the tug of wars it would leave quite a bit of rubber down. If you put them on an rc car I think they’d melt in 10 minutes :)

    since grip is the main problem here, not power, laying a brick *onto* the machines could provide much better outcomes. I suspect the tracks would be affected more than the tyres, since they distribute their weight over a much larger surface area, decreasing grip per area

    For the tank treds I think that if you put the black 2x1 connectors pieces on the treds, It might have increased the grip because the connectors would have been digging into the carpet instead of the technic bars just slipping (Kind of like a cars tires on ice, the tires starts to lose grip and well slip) theoretically the connectors would prevent that problem, as if you were to put chain over the tires on the car I used as a example. If you put the connectors on to the technic bars and then supported those bars on the side that would most likely need to be supported it would improve the tanks grip as it already has the torque to pull more of those bricks. Just an idea that had probably been in some others people's minds that I thought I wanted to share because I felt like typing out a problem that could be fixed, even though you've probably already thought of the idea I wrote about. Oh and I love these videos I have a th8ng for mechanical moving parts it very calming for me to watch gears gears move. Well have a good rest of your day or night and I hope your having a good one.

    I didn't realize how more wheels = more traction. I thought the traction would just be more distributed, not amplified. Tractors and other farm machines do this I always thought it was to distribute the weight over a larger area so if you hit a slick spot it doesn't start slipping and sink you to the diffs. There's also the option for instead of two standard tire and rim to have a single fat tire. Some silage trucks run fat tires instead of duals, call them "floatation tires".

    I like the content and you spent lots of time putting this together. That is much appreciated., Your frictional coefficients between the tire contact and track contact are not equivalent. Also, the tire vehicle creates a moment of traction that is not spread equally across, especially, the rear axle. The outside tires create a V structure which creates a non-linear friction curve for the tires closer to the apex of such V, which is modified by the hitch attachment point. Try an experiment where you move the hitch point under the axle to the center, or just forward, of the rear axle. Make sure the non-static linkage (tow rope) has a trunnion or vector block under the rear axle.

    thank you for tossing the "studs" on the track, was gonna comment that I thought tank treads had at least equal grip potential to tires with the... claws? (sorry don't know actual term) on most treads from what I saw. Flat tread, especially as close together as those look, I would imagine wouldn't be effective in any situation really.

    You need to add weight to the front. The front wheels and tracks are lifting up. You have to keep the front down.

    Oh my thank you so much for the comment, much appreciated :) I used to play with Technic lego lots when I was a kid and when I started back up again years later it did take me awhile to get back into things. I’d say just experiment and build whatever, you’ll soon get the knack after a few weeks.

    I would say that the difference in height of the hitch point has a large impact on the outcome. The results would be more in favour of the tank if the height were identical!

    Just a suggestion: 1. Whenever the car/tank is pulling over the bricks to the cone and takes around 7-10 seconds Pls do like 2x or 1.5x and if u wish to , rather then machine sounds , add light music Just vehicle sound when crucial moment like axle break and stuff If u add these (totally up to u) the viewing experience would be lifted too much 😳😅😈🤞🏻🤣🔥

    Had you spread the bricks across the plastic lid I believe that you would have needed less modifications Putting all the weight at the front would make the lid dig in to the carpet makeing it more difficult Would love to see a part 2 with my idea put the test and rhe results compered Cool video still though

    Hey there thanks for the comment! There was a ridge around the plastic which was really sturdy and the centre was flimsy. Ideally I needed a wooden board on top of this which would have been better like you say, spread it out :)

    You solved my question about FS22. It turns out that the dual tires are more powerful than the tracks.

  • @someinternetguy955
    @someinternetguy9559 ай бұрын

    It isn’t the addition of tires and tracks that is making them pull more, it is the addition of weight. The term is ballast, and simply means to weight the unit to put the power to the ground. Look up ballasting agricultural tractors for more information. Simply put you need to have the proper total unit weight and front to back weight ratio for the most efficient power transfer, which was off for the tires unit as you could actually see it shift in the last couple pulls. You did not power out in this video, you always spun out, so keep adding weight to the machines to find the max pull. You also should have the weights the same for both machines to accurately compare the systems directly. But in a nutshell you are showing with blocks, what we do in the Agriculture world!

    Hey there thank you so much for the comment/insight, it’s much appreciated! :) I tried to keep the weights similar and the weight distribution. I tried both with a brick on and they were already very near the limits of things snapping which I didn’t want in this video.
