Probably would be pretty easy to take out the Flat 6 and replace it with an XL motor and then take off the steering wheel and put a servo motor. Slap it all on a Buwizz or SBrick and battery box which you can put on that black plate in place of the front passenger seat and you got yourself a vehicle that’s prepared and ready to drive outdoors.

Sounds like a plan! I wanted to mishmash 42056 and this one to create a more detailed RSR, but now that the fender pieces are different in size I'll have to use my brain a bit more :o

sid3windr I suggest building off of this model and fixing its flaws instead of mashing it with 42056. LEGO’s Porsche gearbox isn’t practical at all and uses so much space for such minimal gear ratio variability if you’re gonna motorize it.

Артем Ненашев, 4 buggy motors is extreme. I’d say 1 but even then, the axle and differential will probably get shredded.

idk but the front is really weird, those headlights seems too big for the real car and the front "grill" is strange looking

Hi LEGO. I hope you’re reading this because when you have sets with upwards of 1500 pieces such as this one, 42069 and 42070 and you don’t number the bags it’s incredibly inconvenient for two reasons. It takes 15 minutes to find one piece and you need a massive table to put them all on.

Love your mocs and videos .Been watching your channel for only about 2 years.

@@searme there's only one error in this set, being the panel print. The headlight's glasses are just rotated around the thing they're pinned to. Maybe it's not for a practical use, but it's still not an error.

It's a continuity thing. If you need to fold them down, the instructions tell you to. They're not supposed to be up, then suddenly down, then suddenly up again... are they?

Yeah you are right. It not a worthy successor of the GT3 lego lineup. Packaing is poor as well. If Lego wants to entice former GT3 Lego buyers they need to: 1) offer more complexity to the build; 2) Do not cheap out on the packaing; 3) Do not decreased size or number of pieces - keep to 1:18 scale-; and 4) AVOID stickers... cheap and bad taste. These are not for kids but for guys who dream about Porsches.

First of all, great video. I really like the set despite its disadvantages because im such a fan of this car. I'm really curious how the model would look if you were to put the old Porsche's wheels and tires (if you've got them on hand) on it.

I really want to like this set, as it seems quite a bit of thought was put into the overall design of the body... But as with Forza 7, I feel like it got rushed at the end, "oh let's just throw these round clear pieces on for headlights and shove these wheels on and be done with it" Tbh the consistency with which Lego continue to put wheels that are way too small on their models is actually amazing. And I'm not saying *I* could do better, but I know *they* could... A shame really, because as kits have got more and more expensive over then years, you'd think some of that money would go towards special moulds for slightly larger wheels and tyres, but guess not... As I said, a shame 🤷

Nice review, but I think you are a bit too critical about tyres. They have to be small to allow for suspension to work properly. In another point you compliment suspension and nice travel, so you should understand how it forces wheels to be small. My only complaint is headlight covers... they look weird.

Thank you sariel again for the in-depth review of this model, you saved me 150 €. I was almost intending to buy this model, because all other models are either too expensive or too bad. The Rough Terrain Crane - 42082 is disapointing as well since it is supposed to be a "rough terrain" vehicle but lacks of suspensions. A no-go for a Technic model. I hope summer 2019 will come with good models like the Arocs 42043.

I bought this set and turns out it wasn’t as bad as this video said it was, well every has their own opinions. Me I just think some of the cons in this video aren’t really bad.

I think that tires from 42110 set shou ld fit here perfectly.

Well, that's not a ultimate technic supercar or whatever are 911 GT3RS and Chiron, so... why they didn't made HOG?

There are some cons that I dislike aswell but overall the car itself is actually really good

I have this set as well, and i have had some engine problems with the connection

I would say that this is better that 42065, as it is so detailed and vividly colored. Im also wondering why lego didn't use the smaller wheel arch for some other sets that would look a lot better with it.

I might just buy this for extra parts, I have a chiron I’m building in white too so the parts would be handy as well as extra pins and axles, great review as always!

I got the gt3rs and now they come out with THIS?!! Well I did modify mine, so it would look more like a RSR. I just put a roll cage weight reduction, a spliter, and a wing.

The sad thing is that this is the set i got for Christmas and i HATE it. It’s only function (steering) is hard to reach and works really bad. It has so much backlash that you can turn it’s steering up to 90 degrees without any response. I would have prefered having the land rover instead.

I love how LEGO listens to customer complaints for example with the Bugatti the suspension was so low to the ground and then look at the new Porsche 🤗

Hate to break this to you but a Lego set this complex takes about 2 years to develop. Meaning this was pretty much finished by the time anyone bought the Bugatti.

I have this set and I like it a lot, apart from the blue axel parts all over it, especially the ones down the sides in the black running boards and on the rear of the car, I need to replace them with black axels.

Nice set! I don’t really care if it has a lack of playfunctions. I’m a big Porsche fan and I would buy this set no matter what!

I think it looks great, and it's a display model, the HoG steering would ruin it. The only thing that I don't like is the lights bubble, that looks terrible. The white stickers are also disappointment.

oh ty 3:52 good to know ... played with the idea to get the white only to change the color of the orange one, why they printed this parts and but still so mutch stickers ...

I like that it's a big set for its cost and displays nicely. Those are good enough selling points for me. Thank you for the review!

Yeah in my opinion the GT3 is a bit too over priced but it is a special version

My biggest complaint is the arches are printed. Printed pieces are great for some sets. But those parts cannot be found in plain white, which limits their reusability.

Do the lowering ride height mod and you’ll be much happier.

i found another mistake on page 154 where a little black connecting piece that connects the upper part of the door to the inferior one disappears on the next page.

The rear suspension is not rigid enough, so if you motorise it, the tire will hit a frame part... can't have a proper propulsion except if we get rid of that frame part... that is important for the looks of the car...

What’s the best way to organize and separate the parts when starting to build, since bags aren’t numbered? Also, I’d it hard to go back add a motor kit or lighting kit after you finish building the car? Thx

I have no idea, I don't organize nor separate them. It's a relatively large set, so there's ample room for modifications.

I don't like this set. Unfortunately, it isn't better than Rally car. This Porsche is really good-looking, but it is too expensive. Let's compare it with 42077. Rally car has the same suspension, it looks cool too, is great modding material, has HOG steering and b model. This Porsche is just more expensive. But I agree with Sariel. 42096 is great set for those people who couldn't afford 42056 and like Porsche cars.

We could also compare it to the 42078 from one year ago: 1000 parts more More functions B-model with several functions Both are models with license (Porsche, Mack) so that's no explanation for that.

You need to consider the brand name, the copyright that Lego spends to buy from Porsche. So they increase the price of the set so to make profit. The rally car you mentioned should be just a fictional car so it is way cheaper

@@nestorchung517 No longer interested. I went for the 42110 Land Rover Defender which I actually got for 125 Euros. Much better value IMHO.

I wonder how this would look without the stickers and the clear headlight/canopy piece.

And it looks like a different shade of white. And when you think it can't get worse: Some of the (few) yellow parts of the tracked loader are actually black or grey with a mainly yellow sticker on it.

I don't feel like this captures the sleek curves of the actual model well enough and like you said, the gap between the wheels and wheel arches is too large and makes the wheels look small. Now the headlights also don't look right, they should have embedded them to where they wouldn't stick out of the front. And at last, the hood should slope more downwards. Altough that would make better model, LEGO probably has some restrictions in their design process which makes it hard to acomplish these goals.

I think the reason so many things were cut because of costs, is because if a set were $160 (or $170) is would seem WAY out of many people's price range, but $150 is like "yeah! I can afford that."

the rear axle appears to use the same design as the rally car and 24 hours race car

Considering how the pistons move is the engine in this set a 180° v engine and not a flat engine

@@Jacob-co7of No it doesn´t, it´s a 180 degree V. You can clearly see that two piston rods share one crankpin, while in a boxer (like the real porsche) each piston rod has it´s own crankpin. Because of that the pistons in the opposing cylinders both move to the left or right in a V180 (one towards top dead centre the other towards bottom dead centre). In a boxer the move in the opposit direction (both to TDC or BTC), hence are "boxing" against each other. Some say a boxer with current Lego parts isn´t possible. I think it is, but with enormous unrealistic spacing between cylinders, but I never tried it. der Bademeister: But it is a flat engine! This term covers both the V180 and the boxer!

Very disappointed that we still dont have a set that contains the new gears that came with the Bugatti.

I have built 3 Porsches GT3 rs and 3 Bugattis. For me the winner is the Bugatti if you are thinking of spending the money. Haven't been building Lego since I was a kid and now I'm hooked. Thanks for this review... considered buying but seeing your video and realizing that it isn't the same scale as the others.. that is a huuge turn-off for me!

With the exception of the headlight covers, I like it. Sariel would you be prepared to take a pic of the model without the headlight covers so that the four clear pieces beneath are exposed?

Awesome work as usual. Not really feeling the car though. Oddly, I’m actually kinda pissed that they printed the wheel arches.

In a discussion about stickers on the Bugatti or the orange Porsche, someone brought up that Lego wants to have a limited amount of new parts every year. A printed part counts as a new one, like different color or shape. According to that, we have four new wheel arches and a bunch of stickers instead of one part in a neutral color and a slightly bigger bunch of stickers. The corvette will only add more orange wheel arches.

I strongly suspect they have to print wheel arches because their stickers will peel off a curved surface.

I would definitely want to 3D print some better wheels, or maybe make some adapters for some nicer looking RC car wheels and tires. The wheel are absolutely abysmal.

I share a lot of your thoughts. I definitely prefer 42056, but then again, that set is a lot more expensive. My thoughts all up are: Lego, you should go hard or go home! Almost nobody wants this.. the people who would be more interested in buying this are people who care about the little things like details, functionality, true-to-life looks, and the cons Sariel pointed out. What happened after the magnificent 42056 and the beastly 42083? I guess this is the budget model eh! :)

Not sure I agree with "...strikingly detailed and accurate...", all actual 911s have the engine 100% behind the rear axle, with the gearbox forward of that. I can understand the limitations of the medium in this case, but to me that doesn't translate as "accurate"
