Each time these videos come out I see people moaning about how Sariel supposedly gets them "for free". It takes 2-8+ hours to assemble a set depending on complexity. One can earn $50-$300+ in that time with a normal decent job. These setts pretty much cost that amount of money. It also takes time to process the video and upload them. So the 2-8 hours becomes 10+ very easily. Studio isn't free, lighting and cameras cost money... you all realise that right? Sure it's an advertisement for lego, but Lego is getting far far more than merely the set which he got for "free", free defined loosely as he didn't pay, but notice that he is obligated to create these videos, right? Let's not forget the time put into developing a channel, which comes with tons of "unpaid work". It's an investment in itself. So stop being so salty about how these sets are obtained. Why does it bother people?

Thanks, FYI the 42082 review has taken 4 days and 2 nights, because I had to render videos overnight (takes forever at 4K). Keep in mind that most people at YT are little kids and they don't care how much work I put into all this stuff, the have no concept of job, they only see that I got something without paying for it and get jealous.

I’m late by a year, but here is my 2 cents. Every time before I buy any technic set, I always come here to see what Sariel thinks about it. I’m pretty sure many people do the same. If I work at Lego’s marketing department, Sariel would be at the top of the list of youtubers I give free sets to. The quality and insights in his videos are second to none in my humble opinion. Anyone who doesn’t think Sariel deserves these free sets, should at least give an example of a more worthy channel, which I’m afraid does not exist.

@@danielfridliand7632 Some can't, they just have to voice their meaningless, worthless, and vapid rants. I saw so many of them in this particular video a year ago and got sick. These people either genuinely lack independent thought, or are just silly little kids that hopefully will learn when they grow up. When looking through the comments for something meaningful about the set such as criticisms or interesting points to justify a purchase (Lego sets aren't cheap for most people), it's so annoying to see some moronic diatribe about "wahhh u got it 4 free whyyy". I usually ignore them, but this time (last year) I got triggered... so yeah.

Other one question Sariel, do you think that the manually and slow operated functions is a problem for this set ? Because I do not understand how it is possible to make that, for me it is a non sense to have such slow functions non motorized. I would prefer in that case have a crank handle like the old set (do you have the 8848 or 850 or 8846 tow truck which is a beats in playability !?)

I don't really like this set. The looks aren't terrible but they also don't strike me as pleasing. The functions, other than the bucket, seem like they will be neglected pretty quickly because they are uninteresting and really slow. And of course there are countless other loaders available that are more playable and interesting. Sure this one has a counterweight and a variable rear axle but again, they are sluggish and I'm sure will tire quickly. Thanks for the review Sariel, great as always.

I was going to say that it's nice they are offering a set with a full set of the tractor tires in a lower piece count set with no motor to keep the cost down, but then they jacked up the price - probably because of the bucket. You can get the tractor for only a small amount more at this point and it has almost double the part count. It is nice that they did a construction set but it's not the same old construction set.

It looks great but the price tag is kinda hefty for a set with no power functions, do you think it's possible to remove the extending feature of the counterweight to fit a PF system inside it instead? I guess that'll just turn it into 42030 but with four wheel steering but it's still nice if doable.

I could actually see this being a real machine. Remote operated heavy machinery? That would solve some problems, like the commute between the job site and home. Imagine driving these vehicles from a centralized facility with possibly VR to make it easier to see your surroundings. I'm not kidding, think about it. You can see a live video feed from the machine fine on a flat screen, but try looking around and driving at the same time. You need to control the cameras and the machine with different controls, and that gets really confusing. With VR we can render the surroundings from the camera feeds and have head motion control the cameras. This way we can construct a live virtual environment. How cool is that? The point here is to operate a ROV like you were actually there. If something were to go wrong, no humans would get hurt.

The real trouble with Lego is it has been turned from a nice toy to a over priced toy for the many special Themed type of Lego! star wars & harry potter etc.. all super over priced sets selling for hundreds when the mostly contain special small custom Lego parts and few normal main ones.. even the small model sets are super pricey when there maybe only like 20 small Lego bricks in it? I used to buy Lego sets in the golden age of Lego in the 1970's to 1980's Before Lego got themed to death set wise! Even the lovely online Lego shop I used buy single bricks and parts in any amount for nice prices has been totally changed now? It now only sells over priced Special sets and if you wish to buy the normal bricks, you a limited to 3 choices of pre-boxed coloured random picked bricks! I used be able to order any of the bricks or parts, Now I can't. I am sure the worlds most popular toy ( Lego ) and the companies who have themed sets done for them are laughing big time at the huge amount of money they have thanks to ripping off the fans of the Lego and the themes it is made in?

Definitely a disappointment in terms of functionality and complexity. I think the suggestion is that every wheel has its electric motor and the counter weight is a big battery pack, but this doesn't make it anymore exciting since it has no power functions to illustrate these components. What's puzzling to me is the number of unnecessary parts used in the counter weight section that serve no mechanical function, and are barely even visible to add anything to the visuals. This set could've probably cut 1/6 or 1/7 of it's parts and still look and function exactly the same...…….what a waste. And the sad part is...…...it looks awesome!!!!!

Very disappointing summer technic sets. I guess I have to save money for Bugatti.

I think they should start making one or two technic sets every year that are really futuristic, like this one.

2 main functions that are absolutely useless, no suspension or drivetrain, another yellow construction vehicle...really can't see what there is to like about this

How often does lego make sets of concept vehicles?

Only sometimes. I don't see that as any real incentive to buy this though, why not a concept car or bike? Personally I love scifi/futuristic vehicle design but this really doesn't speak to me visually.

Cheesy design. Looks like it is based on a toy of a generic futuristic whatever instead of a (possibly) real vehicle. Worst of the batch imo. One of the worst 1000+ pcs Technic sets of all time, if not the worst.
