During the First World War, the Second Battle of Ypres was fought from 22 April - 25 May 1915 for control of the tactically important high ground to the east and south of the Flemish town of Ypres in western Belgium. The First Battle of Ypres had been fought the previous autumn. The Second Battle of Ypres was the first mass use by Germany of poison gas on the Western Front.
The eminent German chemist Walther Nernst, who was in the army in 1914 as a volunteer driver, saw how trenches produced deadlock. He proposed to Colonel Max Bauer, the German general staff officer responsible for liaison with scientists, that they could empty the opposing trenches by a surprise attack with tear gas. Observing a field test of this idea, the chemist Fritz Haber instead proposed using heavier-than-air chlorine gas.
The German commander Erich von Falkenhayn agreed to try the new weapon, but intended to use it in a diversionary attack by his 4th Army. Falkenhayn wanted to use the gas to cover the withdrawal of Imperial German Army units to the Eastern Front to assist its ally Austria-Hungary in the Gorlice-Tarnów offensive against the Russian Empire. The gas would be released by siphoning liquid chlorine out of cylinders; the gas could not be released directly because the valves would freeze; wind would carry the gas to the enemy lines. 5730 gas cylinders, the largest weighing 40 kilograms (88 lb) each, were carried into the front line. Installation was supervised by Haber, Otto Hahn, James Franck and Gustav Hertz. Twice cylinders were breached by shell fire, the second time three men were killed and fifty wounded. Some of the Germans were protected by miners's oxygen breathing apparatus.

Great animation I love this although this is historically inaccurate regarding the mustard gas. The British and French forces did not have gas masks due to this being Chemical gasses first use and what really happed was British and French reinforcements had to come up because of the gap left by the dead British and French forces because of the gas.

Nice video! But 1 tip: watch out for the amo pouches. Some of the German soldiers has a mp40 pouch but they didn’t use a mp40 in the ww1.

Thank you very much! I actually don't know exactly what to do next, and I don't know when the next video will appear, but I am thinking about Pyrrhic War . I got most from the minifigures on Aliexpress or EBay. I hope I was able to help you!🙂

Imagine everyone from throughout Earth's history united under one banner against this great threat! From ancient to futuristic warfare to more futuristic then Star Wars! Everyone united under one banner and fighting together against this threat! I hope you love my idea dude and will do it! Also can you tell me where you'll get your minifigures as well?

@@jonathanmiller6381 I am actually no fan of star wars and haven't got any Legosets from it, so I wouldn't do this, and I also wanted to focus on history battles and LOTR. I get most of my stuff on Aliexpress and can't remember other websites where I bought something. But if you want to, I can tell you some professional websites.
