LEGO Star Wars - Battle of Hoth
Фильм және анимация
This video is my first brickfilm.
Indeed, before this I've never used stop motion techniques, compositing programs, keying, effects, light, etc.. So I had learnt all by myself in the same time that I made the video.
I don't remember how this crazy idea to remake the epic battle of Hoth shot by shot with lego, grown up in my head, but the result is here.
Unfortunately, it misses few shots (20 exactly) that I couldn't finish due to a lack of time, but more than 5 minutes with snowspeeders - AT-AT fighting, isn't so bad no?
I hope you'll enjoy it.
If you have questions, I'll try to answer you if I can.
I filmed with a Canon FS100 and used After Effects CS4, Particle Illusion 3, Magix video Deluxe 16, and once Terragen (no stop motion program unfortunately).
You can find BTS pictures on Facebook 😉

At last, the saga Star Wars is simply magic. Thanks to George Lucas and all people involved during all these years to allow this story possible on screen.
I haven't created this video for any commercial goals, but only by passion of the cinema and the animation. All credits goes to George Lucas for creating this saga and music credits to John Williams.
Thank you!

Ironic how the AT-ATs in the movie were filmed using stop motion and here, they're pretty much the only things that aren't.

I fondly remember watching this when I was so little. Watching this now I still find this work impressive and well put together. The sound effects, with the stop motion and the special effects and the AT-ATs and the smooth jets. Would love to see something like this again. I remember I shed a tear when I remembered this video a while ago. That scene when Luke takes down the AT-At himself is something special. Thank you.

the fact that this 2011 animation is better than some 2022 animation films
he he, I love it that you let the AtAT walk on their own LEGO motorized way...saves you the extra stop-go technique.
9 жыл бұрын
You're right!! For a one man band process saving all that extra work was really essential I think. Actually during the making I realized that was pretty ironic the fact that in the movie, stop motion techniques was required for the AT-AT whereas in my lego version I used this technique except for the AT-AT :) ! Thanks for your feedback ;)
I am amazed. how is this your first brickfilm? this looks like someone has been practicing for years to get this good. Where did you get the backgrounds? thanks
9 жыл бұрын
Thank you again that's really kind. Indeed like I said in the description I was learning by making this video, so obviously it isn't without mistakes trust me!! But I took my time to figure out how to make the different effects I needed to create by twitching a lot in the programs and by watching several tutorials. It was a slow process at the beginning particularly cause I didn't know anything from stop-motion to software programs but it is like a game to find out solutions in order to recreate a famous sequence with a believable and nice looking on the overall :) Regarding the backgrounds, sometime it's from the original movie itself otherwise 80% of the snowy mountains are pictures found on google. And I tried once the program Terragen allowing to generate landscape like you want by computer.
