If this sub-theme does well I hope Lego will spin it off into its own theme.

I'd be happy if they just kept going with it in the city theme. I'm stoked at the new space variety, especially because they lean into fantasy and away from NASA and realism. Love that side of LEGO, but also very stoked to have sets and themes that are aimed at imagination and fantasy.

I think it will last much longer if it stays apart of the city theme, it makes it much more recognizable and in legos eyes more sales
These give off a "precursor" to the galaxy squad theme feel to it. I'm thinking that the reason why red is not a color used is because they haven't met any hostile aliens yet, red might be a color for an attack or defense force.
Its really interesting to see fantasy elements in the city theme

I really feel like this version of space bridges the gap between realistic city space Humans launching their first rockets and full-on space police where humans are actively policing aliens. In this new wave we see humanity believing Earth's solar system and going to alien worlds that have actual aliens on them

They have star wars ones you could modify I have a boba fett and storm trooper one
Watching this I just realized what these reminded me of that made me like them almost instantly. 80’s kids might remember: Starcom! This was a very, very cool line of highly detailed, well thought out sci fi toys from Coleco. I would not be surprised if they had a not so minor influence on this new Lego Space wave; the aesthetics and design style is definitely reminiscent of it.
@jonzabriskie9177

I was immediately reminded of Starcom too! I had so many of those toys back in the 80s. I picked up the Interstellar Spaceship on release day 1/1 because of how closely it resembles the StarWolf and the StarMax aesthetic.
I hope we get a second wave with new colored factions

YES. Maybe we could get pink kind that is like--A robot controller or something like that. (They could have helmets with antennas and come with remotes.)
I'm in love with these sets. The nostalgia for old school space hit me hard with this series and I've gotten almost all of them so far. BTW, I wonder if the pink power cell is meant to imply that it is a drained power cell, so it's only got half power left?
@DuckBricks
4 ай бұрын
Ooh interesting, I wasn’t sure if it was that or it was an alternative, rarer power source, as some sets have the trans pink fern element in rarer quantities than the purple crystals, and one set shows it being refined to a pink power cell… but I love how the ingredients are there to make your own stories with it!

Getting a space station over a flagship was the right move. The modular nature and tie with other sets make it a good move, something new to draw in people. Flagship I would hope comes in wave 2
Hopefully in the second wave of this we get more aliens with vehicles and sets with just aliens in it

I definitely want this to become a sub-theme of its own. The modularity of the sets creates so many great opportunities for additional sets. I hope to see smaller sets with modules included. Maybe a small truck with one or a small spaceship. I also want more buildings with them so they can all connect together.
I want more space station that fit together!
I am desperate for a proper lego space theme and this has checked all the boxes for me, will be looking to collect all of them in time as sales roll around eventually!
I agree, this year’s space sets and the last ones are just fantastic. I’m way out of the target audience for these sets yet I would gladly own every one of them.
Definitely going to try to make the new interstellar space ship in the classic space color scheme
MARS MISSION MENTIONED 🗣️ 🔥
Picked up interstellar and the 4+ set so far and man the builds are great and best of all NO STICKERS at least for the sets I got so far
Don't lie to me, I heard Zane's death's soundtrack in the back! Also great vid, hoping for more of this subtheme later!
Yes! Been looking forward to this review, especially from you
You were part of my favorite team on Lego Masters and I love all of the builds you’ve created!
I love the Command Rover and Interstellar Spaceship the most out of the new releases.
The Friends sets taking place in the same world as the City sets suggests that the minidolls and minifigs are separate species.
I’d love if we get a saucer ship later this year 😍
I really like this theme! I’ve gotten the interstellar spaceship, asteroid discovery and spaceship, and modular space station so far. They’re so fun!! My first Lego sets in over a decade. I love the space theme and swooshing the interstellar spaceplane is so fun. The modular space station is so much fun to use to create space trains with and to have the mini figures doing tons of stuff in space. Loving them so far, a great space set
I find the overall color palette/aesthetic to this theme to be just a little bit weak, but the designs are good. The thing I like the most is that it's hitting so many hallmarks of older space themes. - It's debuting a brand new color (Dark Orange), similarly to how M-Tron and Ice Planet showcased the new (at the time) Trans Neon Green and Orange colors. - It has the color coded astronauts with different roles, just like Classic Space and Futuron. It has little robot companions, which we also saw in Classic Space, Futuron, and Blacktron, to name a few - It's got modular connections with the orange hub parts. Both Blacktron lines had some modular elements. I'm trying to remember if other space themes did this. - And lastly, it has the characters chasing after crystals, just like Aquazone, Mars Mission, or Rock Raiders. Everyone loves to have those fancy looking little "treasure" pieces, whether it's gold, crystals, jewels, they're always a fun addition.
I’m BEGGING for Lego Castle 2025 😩
I want Lego to bring back other space themes like Blacktron.
I hope this scene sells well. This is basically the closest we've gotten to a classical, non violent space theme in many years, and pretty much the first nonviolent aliens since Life On Mars over twenty years ago.
For me its relatively simple. All the yellow are miners/extractors/heavy duty. Green science, blue pilots/transport, the darker versions are the officers and the gold one is the admiral/leader of the expedition.
I recieved my spaceship today. I buy for looks. Too old to care about playfunctions. The moment they announced it, i was ... ill buy that. It looks sooooo cool. Also have the toystory one just because it looks good. I probably get the 4+ spaceship if its on sale.
When I look at the design of the spacebase I'm curious if it is supposed to connect to 60350 from the last wave.
The crane base would make for a cool 360-rotating crystal-powered space canon. 😂
Lego needs to just make a space theme and a train theme
I agree with you the base seems like a spaceport resupply point. I think we need a module drop ship with a module hub.
Thanks for this galactic review!
Incredible
You could've added that the command Rover front bumper is pretty flexible in it's attachment. I feel like it's a play feature for when the kiddos drive it into the wall (as they do) as a light shock absorber. Oh and you missed the other base? The dome one?

Thanks for looking at all those sets. I only have the polybag speeder so far, but I think it's fantastic. Can't wait to get a few more of the new space sets.
Great review 🎉
Another spinoff could be Muppets in Space. Then Muppet babies in Space.🌙
Hope we'll get more space sets soon.
I so feel like this calls for an alternative build into a mega spacecruiser with the pieces from all sets combined.
I’ve been loving the city space sets the last few years. Keep it up Lego.
Awesome review, thanks man! One thing I'd always keep in mind - this is Lego, you can always change things around. Like in order to allow for minifigs to pass between the modules, I think here you can just remove some parts and the doors would be open.
This is a fantastic homage to classic space Lego.
I LOVE this wave and I truly hope they release a second or even a third one. I want them all!
I really like the common elements like the energy cells and cargo pods. Super play value there. I'm not super thrilled by the minifig color choices, but I like the differentiation of different roles. Very much in keeping with classic Space.
I saw a video saying the darker shaded characters are like managers of their respective roles. I think that makes a ton of sense especially because the darker characters are a bit more unique
I got me the two big sets, the space station and base, 4 interstellar ships, two of the small rovers, and the 4+ set. I plan to militarize/weaponize them. I'm planning on getting more sets to to build the Galatic Armada.
I do like this sub theme but I wish we could get something like galaxy squad again that was peak
Love this theme, so does my daughter! As an 80’s kid though I wish they’d have done a big spaceship (like the cosmic fleet voyager), that would really have rounded the range off.
I really hope these theme does well. The sets are awesome (ther below $40 sets are all winners, even the Polybag - only prints FTW). I have my issues with the 2 biggest sets: Space station doesn't include a 4 way junction module and worst, you can't move between the small modules - not sure how this got past the design given that all other modules have a decently sized opening (this can be remedied by removing those parts and adding a frame or future sets) and the Space crane is too big (read expensive) for the good bits it has ( I would have wanted a bigger base instead of small truck, spaceship ramp and even the cargo space ship could have been its own set rather than part of this in order to allow for a better main build). The big land vehicle is GREAT and I love it. The only issue I have here are the many stickers that are essential to its look, and saddest of all, the generic hazard stripes that could have easily been prints. Either way, great wave, and here's hoping for a second and third to give us a T junction for the modules and a huge mothership - that may or may not be buit around a 4 way junction module. Also I would love more terrain.

My favorite part might be the minis. I love the job positions.
I'll be keen to get 2 of each of the smaller spaceship sets to convert into 1 larger spaceship. Bringing back the style of the older space sets.
Nice, very nice
so far im very impressed. i`m hoping they do a very big mothership that has that same Galactic explorer profile, perhaps include some docking ports for the modules on it so you might be able to build onto it. however, i think having it as a "classic spaceship" profile will be important. things that would be cool to see are things that used to be typical on large ships. things like, - Small detachable side vehicles. - A modular body with a detachable front section which could serve as its own independent ship. - A large rear section or main body of the ship with a detailed interior that could be left behind and used as a portable base, possible with a few docking ports. - A rear mounted, or possibly front mounted bay for small ground vehicles with a ramp.
Hello there! Have you perhaps tried combining the lego city space sets from 2019 Mars Exploration - especially the 60227: Lunar Space Station with sets from the 2022 City line like the 60349: Lunar Space Station, 60350: Lunar Research Base with any of the new Lego city space sets from this new 2024 line? They are supposed to be modular and interconnectable. I am sure many of us would love to see a video on how these may be combined!
We are so back🔥🔥🔥

I'm gonna try making videos creating my own story from those existing elements

I'm really into some of these. Hope it leads to a modern re-imagining of the differing space factions.
Props for the Subnautica Below Zero reference. It’s a LaChance shuttle.
I'm going to get all the 2024 space sets, just waiting on sales or good gwp's
The dust in that room...
I think I want this theme just for the space train build 😂
This subtheme is awesome. I intend to get every set. Though it is a bit Mass Effect
The darker ones as commanders is nice and i also like theadmiral o and i only have the mech and i upgraded it and now it does not resemble the orginal set
If they had classic minifigs and style, I'd give them all my money. Sticking to ebay vintage until then.
Whoa careful there Master Chris…you wouldn’t wanna be caught leaking the future again would you? The Lego Police is watching 👀
The admiral seems to be hilding what looks like a Marshall baton ! The powercell of the jet pack gives me powercell from Subnautica vibes ! Technician halmets reminds me of 2001 A Space Odyssey's suit helmets ! Or ST Enterprise EVA suit helmet. Of course HALO or Mass Effect influence also works but their influence traces back from the same anyway. Cute aliens give Toy Story alien toy vibes. Damn all those influences. It's like being back in the 80s. Robots give 80 anime vibe which fits the narrative. Miner Mech= PRAWN suit in Subnautica. Or many other sci fy influences it draws from... Those who designed the models played 80s/90s Space LEGO and played Subnautica it seems... They know what is good. Energy cristal seems to be the same shape as the Magnetite outcrop in Subnautica, again... They should make a Subnautica collection at this point... Modular Space Station directly inspired from the Inteerstellar Endurance spacecraft, of course... "Space train" is the official term even at Nasa to describe whet the Apollo+LEM convoy attached together is, so no problem. Jules Verne even used the term himself to describe the potential future of space travel in From the Earth to the Moon novel. Modules not being see through on the Space Station is normal, on the regular build, one side is exposed to the exterior and it wouldn't feel realistic to have it open to vacuum... So the wall you see is the hatch inside the docking port. The module on the rover is designed to go in the middle of the train or be part of the rover (using modular construction is the get go to space travel if you want to be cheap anyway even if that module is not meant for a space ship). Even there, their approach is rather realistic. It seems that those guys took every grievances I had with the Space LEGO collections back then and fixed those in an engaging way. Damn I wish I was ten yo again... The Power Bus module at the end seems totally legit interstellar travel design. The base looks like being taken from Kerbal Space Program. In short, that collection is KSP+Subnautica in LEGO. Seems like a banger. I hope it works. The vriable thruster bell makes that spaceship look very nice and sleek.
I love them! Great review! I got the four least expensive ones. The three most expensive don't interest me. I am looking for the poly bag...
I feel you can make a pretty decent purist Master Chief or any Spartan with these figures
I think the price difference may have something to do with less demand in Europe because US economy seems to be doing better at the moment. It could also be that these themes aren't as popular here but I doubt it. Also 85 USD is about 77 EUR.
I wanted the mech Now i want all of them
I'm pretty sure those power cells are called Harbulary Batteries :D
1 looks like no man's sky i like it 2 would be cool a tv show of this space sub theme
16:55 the ship is kinda cool, but feels like a lot of opportunities were missed with the design. No landing gear for one. Second there should be for expanding engines nacelles not just the three- so it expands in all directions. And the battery box has a weird placement and is way too bulky for otherwise such a sleek looking design.
They should sell each module separately too
I was disappointed that the command rover didn't have a suspension. That seems like a really big miss.
We need a game like rock riders for them.
Ngl, this the first time EVER, i've consired buying lego city
The Admiral fig confused me. I assumed he was an alien and possibly an enemy even though of course this is a totally peaceful theme. Sadly.
i think the golden one is the owner
Grabbed this entire line, brilliant. What is the IG account of the designer?
Damn! A 70 dollar set for 758 Dollars! 😂 We all make mistakes its just funny
ooh, there's also the polybag
It seems like it would be easy to remove the walls in the modules tho
I want to get all of these and save them until my baby son grows up, because the young me would have loved them. It's about 400 euros to get all of them, though... :/
I don't understand why LEGO is not re-issuing the original classic space sets. Hasbro did that with the original G1 Transformers toys when the line celebrated its 25th anniversary.
