@CheeseyStudios It definitely was. If I remember correctly, it was like: a wizard hat, a couple helmets including one of those crossbowman kettle helmets and visored one with 3 different red plumes, a small printed blue lion shield, a large oviod black bull shield, a chromed longsword, a grey shortsword, a glossy black battleaxe, a glossy black spear, a grey halberd, a brown longbow with quiver, a grey crossbow, two katana (one grey, one black), and two ninja hoods with little clips on the back to hold the katana. That's all I remember distinctly, but I'm sure there was more. All that for around $7 with shipping and handling. I didn't even know lego had weapons before I saw those in my magazine. If I knew then what I know now, I would have bought as many as possible
I was actively building during the weird soccer/football era. They really tried to push for us to build a soccer/football stadium complete with stands a bus and chairs and concessions and a whole field in the weirdest ways possible. There were hardly any foods outside of the pizza circle, so I remember using little red and yellow studs as meat snacks or grain based snacks. I would have serious bought the chair polybag in the thumbnail as a kid, as weird as it sounds.

I think this was Eastern Europe exclusive, but I remember in the 90s Lego teamed up with Mars and Milkyway chocolate bars came with lego bricks. You could build small animals out of them, like an a bull/cow, a bird and so on.
The Service Packs were hilarious, I recall a local toy store here (which was in this extremely liminal space-y mall of sorts) had one of them. It had a bunch of plain black minifig heads and an odd mismatched slope, if I recall correctly.
Great video My favorite polybags were Lego Xtra polybags. They came with awesome accessories and pieces to build a city with. It would be awesome if you made a video of those polybags and similar ones I also like the mini speed champions cars, they are similar to lego racers which I like
@CheeseyStudios
Ай бұрын
The Speed Champions polybags have been incredible lately! I'm so impressed with the amount of detail they fit into those tiny little cars. They're almost as cool as the larger models!
Lego stores, as of three years ago, still sells poly bags with random parts. I’ve gotten several with sports items, food items, plant and flowers, underwater including a stingray, …. My more recent ones were the Batman poly bag that I picked up several and Batman is standing on top of a bunch of my buildings. And several years ago they released Trolls Polly’s carriage and Walmart had them straight to clearance for under $2 so I ended up buying all 15 that were on the shelf. Unfortunately there was not a lot of interest in that set so ten of them are still setting in a box in the closet. The rest have some interesting parts that are all over other things I’ve made.
Continue with this series, it's super fun! and the length of this video is perfect

Maybe a vid on some of the unique pieces/colors of mid 90s early 2000s lego (like belville) could be interesting? There's something both so nostalgic but also so foreign about that era (maybe because it was right before I was into lego tbh.) Its like Lego started creating more specialized molds that weren't just minifig body parts/helmets, but were still in their phase of more simplistic designs and implied details. I remember as a kid being so fascinated with those clam pieces, the odd transparent colors, the teddy bears, the weird colors of the ice cream piece (which is used a lot more now for sure), the starfish piece--like I actually didn't even realize that orb piece existed until your knights kingdom vid, too. So many weird lil bricks in weird colors lost to time

Ah, the iconic Bionicle trend of making spiders with a non-spider amount of legs. That's the blue thing from the polybag btw, a skull spider, in the lore they attach to the faces of the heroes to kinda corrupt them. You can also attach a fifth leg to the top of the head to get a scorpion variant. Gives it at least a few more uses, but unfortunately not enough to really make it a worthwhile piece outside of swarm fodder lolol. (also thank you for reminding me that the golden skull mask exists, might have to look into getting one myself)

It's definitely an interesting concept! I guess I just prefer Alien Conquest's goofy clingers xD But yeah, even as not much of a Bionicle guy, I absolutely love that skull mask. It's quite unlike any other LEGO element I've seen - surprisingly dark and scary. Beautifully designed! It looks like there are other, cheaper colors too you might be interested in: www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=20476&name=Bionicle%20Mask%20Skull%20Type%201&category=%5BBIONICLE,%20Kanohi%20Mask%5D#T=S&O={%22ss%22:%22US%22,%22iconly%22:0}

Znap is usually also something us bionicle fans love trying to shoehorn into mocs lol. They have such interesting textures and it's always funny when someone manages to use the pieces in an innovative way. Kinda makes me want to dare you to use them on a moc somewhere somehow too.(as scaffolding perhaps?)

@@funnyfoxbiome I just saw some ZNAP used really effectively at a con last month - it was on a train layout as the trusses for a bridge! It was really creative
4:24 They used to hand out Lego on flights?? How far commercial airlines have fallen 😮💨 Speaking of the Lego sports theme I actually got a piece from it recently in a bulk lot, one of the bases for the spring mechanism in blue. I was so confused as to what it was for until I looked it up, it's a weird piece lol. I kinda want to incorporate it into a build, but aside from the concave part it's just an 8x8 brick, so I'm not sure what I'd use it for.
When I watched the intro of this video, something came to my mind. Lego changed its minifigure packages from plastic to cardboard boxes, but why didn't it do this for polybags?

Well, to be brutally honest, it's because they can't make extra money off hiding the contents of a polybag 🤣
I can’t *bear* that Bears on the Beach set.

I see what you did there xD
For the movie seats we have to buy the dlc packs for another 50 just to complete the whole set
are polybags only kits that come in these bags, or just any really tiny kit with very few pieces? because my dad as a kid in the 60s/70s had similar kits but in boxes. there was one that even had electric stuff that I played with as a kid too

Polybags specifically refer to the packaging type, yeah! But I definitely know what you're talking about. The tiny boxes are quite adorable
I started going w poly bags instead of the mini fig series in most cases because they come with a fig and some small number of bricks for the same price. Sure the figures are often rather generic but they fill out scenes better. When, Comicon aside, have you seen some demon warrior walking down the street?
Would be interesting to do this with advent calendars We know they are varied in quality

I'm not sure if you've ever seen my Clikit Advent Calendar videos, but you might really enjoy those lol
