LEGO Modular: Boutique Hotel Review 10297)
Ойын-сауық
The 2022 modular building is the Boutique Hotel (10297) and I am absolutely blown away by this set! What a great addition to the Modular Buildings Collection and a wonderful 15th year anniversary set.
It contains 3066 pieces and will be available starting on January 1st, 2022. I was initially so shocked at the unique shape of this set, since all the previous modulars are (mostly) symmetrical but I love that this one is unique. The size of the modular is the same as all the others (fits on one baseplate), but instead of the hotel taking up the entire baseplate, there is a smaller Art Gallery to the side (El Cubo Fine Art).
The modular buildings all come with fascinating stories provided through the instructions. The notes included in the instructions really help to bring this set to life and gives it a lot more character once we learn the backstory as well as the ins and outs of the many details contained inside.
This set was provided by LAN and LEGO for review. Thank you so much! All opinions in this video are my own :)

My favorite is probably Assembly Square, but I have to say, I think the Boutique Hotel is going to give it a run for its money! I mean, come on...this set is really pretty awesome!

I would like to see the hotel on the right side of the Parisian restaurant. That way the two terrace spaces would align really well. I think…:)

the Parisian restaurant is the only set that can enhance it. The windows that turn to the rear would have a front wall with any other modular. And who would pay for a room with a view on a wall? :)
Oh my this is gorgeous! I’m super impressed by this hotel and love all the details! Especially the creator expert logo Easter egg! Great review Emily and I wish I could get this set
Great review. Very concise, you included all stuff that was important to include, and gave a good overview of the set. I come to your channel usually for these reviews as they are detailed and yet concise.
The quality of your videos is amazing. I love how you explain everything you like and show close ups of the minifugres and various other aspects you're speaking about
Looks like a great set. Can't wait to get it! Thanks for the detailed video!!
Thanks for the video. Very excited for this modular! I like how it stands out among the modulars. It has got to be one of the best modulars, if not the best. Looks awesome! Can't wait to get it!

Thank you 😊 I worked hard on it! I’m glad it shows!
As an architect I am very excited about this Modular Building. The style actually reminds me of London pubs located in old buildings with accommodation on the top floors. Absolutely loved the art referencing cubist artist such as Picasso and Mondrian.
It looks great. Parisian Restaurant is my favorite, but this looks like it could give it competition
At the accountants desk there is the lego typewriter set, just thought you should know about this hidden Easter egg!
Thanks for doing this lovely review. I am so glad the hotel has a classic design and not the rumoured post modern look.
Can´t wait to acquire this beautiful set. My wife and I have started collecting these modular sets at the beginning of the pandemic and we are looking forward to this set. Thank you so much for this wonderful video.
Thank you for your import looks awesome can’t wait to purchase one maybe two
Been waiting for this for months!
Beautiful building!
I just found your channel, and I really love your editing and camera work!
Definitely going to buy this, great review
Thanks for the review! I just ordered this kit before it is retired. I look forward to building it.
Awesome review, Emily!
Great review Emily nice set have a great Monday
This set looks great! so unique and different compared to any other modular. Dare I say a new era of modulars?
The painting on the 2x4 tile is a reference to a McDonalds Galidor set and the art piece with the basic colours is likely an Mondriaan piece.
@generaliserad
2 жыл бұрын
Probably a reference to Piet Mondrian "Composition with Red Blue and Yellow"
Ahhhhhh!! Please let the motorized lighthouse come out before I end up spending all my money on this! I don’t know how much longer I can wait.
Wow. The modulars are getting better and better every year!
Great set can’t wait to add to my city!

Totally agree! If there ever was a modular set that just BEGS to be MOC’d up … this is it! First order of business is to add at least a common restroom and shower for the rooms that don’t have one! Maybe the fact that there are FOUR keys at the front desk … yet, only THREE rooms might be a dead giveaway that this set likely was a victim of “price point and budget restraints” for the designer! Can’t wait to see alternate builds for this “little” jewel!

@@Emmasaurus … as I have watched various LEGO KZreadrs struggle to fit this into their city layouts, it’s clear that this set needs to be “MOCd” big-time! Another thing that is missing is an elevator! What the heck is that luggage cart for … just to bring bags into the lobby, only to have to schlep them up the steps?!? No utility or storage closets? Cleaning staff bring all their own stuff? Where do they keep the chocolate stored? So many questions! (lol)
I will be getting this one. Sand green tiles are my favorite Lego brick color
Brilliant review compared to some others!👏, nice and indepth. The build is fantastic, can't wait to get this set!!
I believe Ashwin stands for Ashwin Visser, a Dutch graphic designer at LEGO who also designed the printed pieces of and featured in the designer video of the Police Station.
@Emmasaurus

I was thinking it could be him! All the other names were from previous modulars so I wasn’t sure if maybe Ashwin was a reference in a modular he designed in the past! Hmm 🤔

Im defenitly going to buy this day one!
Woww this is amazing! Congrats on getting it early, the build designs here remind me a little of the ninjago city gardens buildings
I really like the "copper" green spire on the rooftop. It reminds me a bit of the Gooderham Flatiron building in Toronto. Keeping with the Toronto theme, the most famous palm tree in Toronto is the Neon Palm at the El Macambo, so the cafe needs a name change LOL.
It was a great hotel set Emily.💖👍
Perfect video, and beautiful set! The colorful painting with black lines is a Mondrian. The second portrait (not he "parrot") is believed to be a reference to an obscure McDonald's Happy Meal toy representing the main character of the infamous Galidor line.
This set sure looks fantastic, but the high quality of your review just make it more appealing. I love how much information you're providing, with all the references included in this set (and the pictures / clips of external references are super helpful). It's mind-blowing to see the video is only 13 minutes long, with so much details and facts included. Truly awe inspiring job, thank you so much

hahaha, you already have the lot available for this new set :D great city planning!
I just bought one of these and am looking forward to building it. I noticed how shiny all the pieces look in this video. While building, do you somehow avoid leaving fingerprints on the pieces?
I really like this review style
Cubist Art 👌🤣 oh my God perfect 👌😂🤩 this is so Beautiful 😱
I really like that they brought back the backpacks from the old pirate sets.

Finally we see the 2021 modular. It's great! So what do we think the 2022 modular is going to be?
the painting with yellow / blue / red and black lines is a refenrence to Mondrian's classic pieces the typewriter is a refrence to ideas 21327 set
I love modulars and would love to collect them. But I am missing the space to even store, let alone display, them... unfortunate :-(
Want WANT want... super worth not buying any LEGO till this drops!
I think the "Boutique Hotel" was inspired by the Hotel de Paris-Monaco. Many of the same architectural elements, color palette, even the palm trees outside🌴
@dailydoseofsunshine2319
Жыл бұрын
We actually dont even have to speculate about the modulars real world inspiration like we usually do for the boutique hotel. The designer of it gave an interview and said it was inspired by the metropolis building in Spain and some other post office in Slovenia
I can't make anything of the last name in the guestbook. Could it be a reference to the dentist from Assembly Square and veterinarian Dr. Jones from the Corner Garage? Doctors (house doctors in particular) are often said to have illegible handwriting. In fact, in the Netherlands we sometimes say that someone with illegible handwriting has a doctor's handwriting. :P
I would guess the illegible name is the dentist from assembly square? Are there any other doctors in modular?
I just orderd the new modular
I believe the art piece using various color squares is actually referencing minimalist art. Not sure if you care but it’s specifically referring to Mondrian art.
@YageSpirit
Жыл бұрын
Yes, Piet Mondrian. It is in reference to Composition II in Red, Blue Yellow from 1929
Very impressive review! What about the white croissant in the trashcan at the back of the hotel, is that a reference to the Parisian Restaurant?
@Emmasaurus

It is! 😊 the white croissant is moldy now because it’s an old croissant from the Parisian Restaurant, which is why it’s in the dumpster!
uhh i need it, I gotta get some older ones first before they retire

I think Lego just saved me some money for once as I’m really not keen on this at all. The shape of the building and also colour use makes me think it looks like a cake. The interior is lovely - but the exterior just isn’t really doing much for me sadly. Great video though, very concise breakdown of the set and all the details.

I see this set as a better parisan restaurant, because the restaurant is so fragile.
"The Modulars no longer being included in the Creator Expert theme"...except that's exactly where they are on LEGO's official online shop...

I was also worried about that! I've already tried seeing how it looks next to some of the modulars and it can make it a bit trickier to find a good home for it in a LEGO City, but I like that it's different :)
The printed piece that goes in the window is cubist style art . The one one you think is cubist is “color blocking” . Easy mistake to make.
