The MCU has really prioritised quantity over quality, which is really sad. I think that Marvel CMFs are totally the way to go, though. It's so nice to see these figures being made with the quality they deserve. It's also a great way to cover a lot of the new MCU projects without making individual sets for each one.

Could be worse. Could be DC. But in all seriousness, they have been dropping the ball more than usual lately. Marvel has always had duds, but the duds have been most of the sets recently. We need more comic book sets imo.
The lack of comic sets really pushed me away from the theme because I looked at other brands like marvel legends(thought they still have a lot of problems on their own) I got jealous and bought a few figures from them. It just feels nicer to be able to collect all the comic heroes I want without having to wait for a lego Minifigure that they will never make.

Maybe... but I think everyone would be better off with mid scale good sets. These large sets are not affordable for everyone. The Quinjet was like... chef's kiss. More like that please.
This can sometimes apply to Star Wars like Andor, Bad Batch like Lego hasn't been keeping up on those (I like those shows)
@mishkinita7814

Andor 😍😍😍
Lego seems to be suffering the same sense of aimlessness that's plaguing the current mcu. I really thought "The Inifinity Saga" branding for sets would mean they'd go back and make sets for the early movies that didn't get any, but then the majority of those were just Endgame sets.
Waiting for the comments to show up defending marvel like endgame itself.

I love Marvel but I'd rather have quality over quantity. Let's hope it improves!
I don’t know how anyone can get burnout on something that releases once a week or once a month or so. Like, you don’t have to immediately watch something the second it drops, but if you want to see real burnout, the Arrowverse is a major culprit, and some of the other DC shows too, but the non-Arrowverse ones can still be manageable somewhat.
I feel exactly the same about the sets… gone are the days that we would get interesting new figures!
The thing that I find the most annoying is that all the good sets are the really expensive ones. I typically try to collect MCU sets for films as they come out, but I skipped wakanda forever, outside of the jet of which I kind of regret buying, because of the fact that all the figures I wanted were all in the war on the water, which I just couldn't afford, especially considering it's not a film I intend to return to. However I definitely plan to get the gotg ship, and maybe the nwh set, but the fact that they are so expensive is annoying. However I would have definitely bought sets for spider-verse, and I only hope Lego returns to the film eventually, I really need the characters
In my opinion, the idea of superhero fatigue is one that has gotten me fatigued. Mainly since everyone always targets the MCU, even though there’s also Sony Pictures making their own Marvel Comics movie adaptations & Warner Bros handling all of the DC theatrical & DVD movies. It especially annoys me since the MCU still feels like the more organised shared universe when compared to the ones that came after it.
I think the last Lego Marvel set I brought was the 2022 GOTG Advent Calendar. The newest set reveals don't really appeal to me.
Really makes you think why superheroes isnt doing better these days. You dont need the movies to make some great sets. DC was making a killing back in 2013 with their comic sets. I remember getting the green lantern vs sinestro set and obsessing over it, it was amazing and i really really wish we got more sets like that. Green lantern has a lot of fans and im sure that LEGO could turn each of the different lantern corps into amazing sets (diorama sets for instance, making small environment scenes with each of the lantern central power batteries as well as a corresponding lantern corp member we havent got before).
I am predicting we will be getting alot of X-Men figs in the next couple of years with the 97 figs in the next cmf series and the rumored X-Mansion for next year. Which'll be awesome at first but just be prepared to see them for a while.
I think Lego is absolutely failing the marvel theme right now. The only main saving grace are the modulars because half the sets are things no one cares about. A third of the marvel sets coming out this year don't even have any minifigures and we just keep redoing the same stuff. No one asked for Groot but venomized or a plain dark blue glove with 3 gray prongs that costs $70. All these random 18 plus sets and buildable characters could have been chances to get sets off the shows or the comics. But instead the third endgame final battle set and more mechs than anyone knows what to do with, are what the marvel designers think is best. It's tough to see my favorite theme go down the gutter when it'd be so easy to just do better.
Not gonna touch the hot button stuff, but I wouldn’t sleep on Secret Invasion. It’s pretty solid.

Friends is absolute fire. Though Disney for Disney 100 this year too has been incredible, I wonder if that's where there budget went though cause Star Wars and Marvel are no where near as strong
Agree completely, I also find that the 'collect everything' mentality can easily fall off when the prices are as expensive as they are. I enjoyed some of the earlier Lego marvel builds - the Avengers tower, the Milano - but nowadays the sets feel like re-makes or very messy tiny diorama's that look bad and don't bring much to the table, whilst sitting at a high price.
GHOST RIDER wasn't a set, he was a MECH. If it's not MCU it's a Mech, I hate it.
I don’t think lego has the license for Sony spider-man movies. They can make the characters, but only because they are in the comics.
Happy to see Daily Bugle set getting so much love. I know people praise it, but not enough. Its a perfect set. My favorite part is the fact that it looks like a comic book panel, catching everything mid action. All its missing is an MJ minifig. Great videos!
As with every big IP ... If You want to build a collection , filter out the moneygrabber items , where they clearly cut corners on detail or quality. That goes for all Lego IP themes , and the action figure market in general. YOU ARE 100% correct Holly. Step away from being a completist , i did years ago , it takes away ALOT of unnessecary frustrations out of the collector hobby , and saves a ton of money.
I would love to see more spider-man stuff too, but can lego PLEASE just stop with the “spider mobiles” like, spider-man doesn’t have a helicopter, or a pickup truck. Like I’m just soooo confused. TOO many lego spider-man vehicles
The sad truth is that I stopped buying Lego Marvel sets. I mostly get Lego Harry Potter these days. I don't buy a ton, as I mostly work on MOCs, but I like a regular set every so often.
I feel like the mcu sets are nice but we really need more comic type sets and spiderman also needs more sets like the 2019 sets im tired of only spidey and his amazing friends
It's not just lego. All of the MCU merch has been TERRIBLE for years now. Nothing is coming out alongside the films anymore. We're lucky if it comes out within 6 months past release. While I understand spoilers that doesn't always make sense- Antman is a great example. Kang had NO merch and was heavily marketed.
These kind of videos are the reasonof why I love this channel. I agree on all of the points you 've made. The theme is just so boring tbh, and Im speaking as a Marvel fan ,not only MCU, we keep getting the same stuff all over again
Good observation! My love of LEGO and Marvel should overlap but it doesn't as much as it should. ❤
I would like less comic book spider man sets and more sets from the origin movies like iron man, captain America, Thor, etc. Also some more focus on the TV shows like Loki and Wandavision. And for Spider man more sets from homecoming, far from home(less), and no way home as well as a ton of sets for into the spider verse and some from across the spider verse. But that’s just me 😅
Lego need to do an entire Thor wave covering characters and sets across the first 2 movies. Odin, Warriors 3, Sif, Frigga, Eric Selvig, Jane, Darcy, Ian Boothy, Malekith and of course Heimdall. We need those characters, not repeats of Captain America with no leg printing when by now there's no excuse for why he has none. Reprinting the Captain Carter legs can't be that hard
Great video Hol !! Exactly sums up the fatigue a lot of Marvel fans are feeling. I was collecting all the MCU lego sets and have collected all the MCU Marvel Legends figures which I've now also stopped
Great video! Only suggestion for improvement would have been to name it: "Marvel Failed". I feel like the movies, comic books, and Lego are all not as good as they used to be. The charm is leaving the company. I tried "Secret Invasion" and it was so slow and boring I gave up and I doubt I'll finish it. I haven't really been excited about a Lego Marvel set since the Daily Bugle came out.
One of my biggest gripes about the theme is that there are no sets for Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, a Marvel show that released months ago
I really wish lego would make more comic marvel sets. I'm hoping for more X-Men and maybe one day an actual Fantastic Four set
For the TV series, I suggest wait until all episodes are out. Lego Marvel has definitely slipped. Some sets are still great, but others are kinda meh. The Guardians 3 sets really annoyed me because they only included one new character. Kraglin should have been included by now and why didn't they include the villain? The Guardians 2 wave skipped Ego as well but probably more because of spoilers but it at least gave us Taserface and Ayesha as well as two torsos for Star Lord. Guardians 3 just reuses all the torsos pretty much. Ant Man Quantamania easily could have done a set with Janet, Hank, Hope, Kang, Cassie etc. The Marvels set only has 4 figures, 1 of which being a newbie (unless you count Ms Marvel too). One of the few first times this year for Lego is Helen Cho from Age of Ultron. Nearly all the Thor characters, Kraglin, Ego, High Evolutionary, Luis and the other Ant Man characters haven't had figures yet but Helen Cho who many probably won't remember that well gets one first. Spiderman Far From Home had better sets and figures than the original Endgame wave. Harry Potter I've probably cut down more on but that's mostly because the better sets are more money. I haven't actually got any from last year's summer wave. The most recent set I got was The Hospital Wing for my birthday back in February. I'll buy the Marvel CMF series 2 and will probably consider the No Way Home set. I am making a decision about getting the Goat Boat or The Wakanda Submarine set before they retire. If I had more room I would definitely have bought the Guardians 3 ship or Grimmauld Place, I think it's a pity Grimmauld Place is retiring so soon but being a Smyth's Toys exclusive didn't help
I just stick to the comics. It's better storytelling than the recent mcu stuff.
I totally sympathize with your sentiment. They're totally phoning it in. I don't really do third party ip. Mostly because of the reasons you mentioned. I did buy a few Dr strange sets, they were good parts pack. Although they're gonna see this and green light an entire theme of mechs and build able figures, oh I did buy a few Sylvie for the baby gators I tried to watch the content but I gave up around Loki
I've stopped caring, just like I stopped caring about the MCU. I'm not watching 28 TV shows and 5-6 movies every year. The only thing I want (and Lego have repeatedly shown they won't do it) is a Stealth Suit Captain America minfigure from CATWS.
I agree about the Lego Marvel theme, and Marvel in general. The only set I've seen this year that interested me is the Quinjet, but I haven't pulled the trigger on getting one. Price is a major factor. (Especially since I just spent the money on the 2023 Hogwarts Express with Hogsmeade Station set.) Last Marvel set I bought was the Hydra Stomper (from the What If wave), because I wanted the Captain Carter mini figure. Regarding spoilers in Lego sets, I think Marvel is purposely withholding information from Lego that could potentially be a spoiler as Lego has spoiled movies before with their sets. An example of that would be a Lego set based on the first Wonder Woman movie which spoiled that Ares was the villain in it. The set was released before the movie made it to the theaters.
Keep up the great work Holly! Always love your content!
It feels like the LEGO theme is only thriving if the mcu. When’s the mcu was at its highest in late phase three that’s when all the LEGO sets were really great, and now and days it feels like the sets are declining in quality along with the mcu
I would love it if LEGO stops spewing out so many Marvel (and Harry Potter and Star Wars, sorry) sets and makes more medium/small LotR, Castle, and Pirates sets. I understand the economics of making what people are buying and what movies are hot atm, but I think there’s a demand for those latter themes too in more than $400+ DTC UCS sets.
So many Spider-Man sets but no Sony sets.
Another common Holly W. I’ve been a fan of Marvel Comics and Lego for the majority of my life, so I was happy when the Marvel theme started. But yes the focus on MCU stuff has killed the theme for me. I still buy some of the sets and minifigures bc these are characters that I’ve spent my life reading about and watching, but I’m only going after stuff I like or want. There’s nothing wrong with falling off the fandom! I certainly fell off of Star Wars bc of the fandom itself. But all the issues you presented are true. The lack of detail and focus of the MCU is a major problem that I’m hoping can be rectified in the future. The only hope I have is for minifig-scale sets based off of X-Men ‘97 since those are your classic X-Men designs. The superhero themes have been struggling and should be colorful and fun like the world they’re based on. What I’d give for a wave of classic Fantastic Four sets
Now I have a question for you, I think there is a modular avengers tower coming out apparentley. If it does, are you going to get it
Totally agree about the Lego sets, You should give Secret Invasion a go I am enjoying it 👍
I usually buy scalper priced marvel sets for collecting and nostalgia. Newer sets nowadays ive been limiting myself to the absolute ones i need like the nwh set.
Well atleast marvel gets stuff. DC has gotten basically nothing the past half decade
Really appreciated your analysis! Lots of different factors at play here. Here's hoping things improve!
4:25-4:34 was adorable 😂 when's the album coming out?
They focus on how to make money than to satisfy there customers first. So sad.
At this point my display for marvel consist of the daily bugle and comic variants of characters, mainly spider man cuz those are easier to collect than the MCU characters
morbius vs miles morales is one of the only good marvel sets recently imo
While I think the Spider-Man set will sell, I think it's more for the figures than the set itself, which is where I am right now. Hell, the endgame set I only want for Valkyrie and her Pegasus. How do you feel about the long rumored Avengers Tower set? Do you think it will be as popular as the Daily Bugle?
Completely agree with all of your points! Tbh I haven't bought anything Marvel related since the first CMF, and I don't plan on getting the second CMF with the whole box packaging. The only sets that interest me are the Daily Bugle and the Quinjet, but those prices are too much (Im still planning on getting the Quinjet if I can find a good deal though). The newer releases do bring me hope for the MCU as the reviews for GOTG Volume 3 have been great and I've actually enjoyed Secret Invasion for the most part, but with Loki Season 2 and the Marvels coming out soon, who knows how those will do. Overall LEGO and the MCU have been coming out with a few decent projects, but I'm still left uninterested. To think that five years ago we were all hyped for Infinity War, and now all of us are sick of the amount of content released. It really is a shame, but their is still hope with how the MCU has been the past couple of months. Lets just hope for the best, and you totally should watch at least the first episode of Secret Invasion, the tone is very similar to the older MCU movies!
My biggest issue with Lego Marvel is the innacuracy of a lot of the mcu sets,i know they can't always know in advance what a specific film will contain and have to produce sets in advance, but for example, the love and thunder set with Thor and Jane-Thor and the weird bog eyed crab creature thing...seriously wtf was that thing, and of course the infamous Mandarin golf cart thing
@brickbanditstudios6037

I actually don't knock lego for not having no way home sets. They're terrible with leaks. Why would I entrust a project to a company that I know is still safe to wait, knowing the risk of leaks is great? To be fair, I can only think of the final battle and that was sort of in the trailer, but with hidden villains

@HollyOnFilm I would guess they don't want to guess and put the characters in a set that doesn't make sense or they want to make sure they have the characters needed..... however that's also debunked, where th is lizard in the upcoming set lol
The one Marvel set I got was a polybag. 2 figs and a build for 5 bucks, the single best deal. Since then, down hill fast!
I’m so tired of Marvel, other than Spider-Verse (which isn’t even MCU) I haven’t been excited for about 90% of their projects
Actual fact : since start of year, I had to end up trimming my marvel zone because they are overdoing a lot of the sets And then so far I did sold off the Minifigures then avengers tower; as for secret invasion, I plan to watch it all a day before the finale
I didnt even know about secret invasion...
They need to Make new sets based on the Spider-Man movies like how they did with the line of No Way Home and the Infinity Saga sets. There’s not enough Comics sets too because they’re milking Spider-Man like how they did with Batman
A. Secret Invasion is slow and has lots of world building. Kinda like Andor. It’s ok. Marvel tv/movie does put out a buttload of stuff, and it is hard to keep up. But for me, those movies need to be seen in a theater. Give me time to relax with me kids. As for the Lego? I only buy what I reeeeaaallllly want. Not just cuz
I was/am/have been a Marvel fan for years. I however don't have Disney+, so investing in trips to the cinema to watch movies following on from TV series I haven't seen seems pointless. Also all the sets at the mo seem to be Marvel Mechs & Build-a-character... Meh. (I am getting the next Mini fig series though).
I’d like to have the Daily Bugle set one day but not in any rush to buy it, the GOTG advent calendar is the only full marvel set I have, I prefer just getting the occasional mini fig but if LEGO pulled the trigger on a comic inspired X-MEN mansion I’d be first in line!

I get the whole idea on making money off merchandise and having parents buy it for their kids. But like now, no one is actually buying anything anymore. I go to the Lego section of the store and there are literally still sets from like the beginning of last year. I have watched so many people talk about their thoughts on this topic. And not just talking about the merch. I'm also talking about the company as a whole. I gave up. Like what kind of parent will buy a $100 No Way Home set for their kid. I mean I guess if their rich, but why can't everyone else have fun. And Holly is right. I'd rather purchase the minifigures online rather than have the whole set. There's too much to catch up with and to little time to invest on that is barely giving any effort. I'd rather focus on life in general.
So is it bad if I buy the Statue of Liberty. :|
I love the Modular building sets and build these primarily. I’m not into Marvel at all but buought the Sanctorum and Bugle for the building itself. I leff off all the charactrers and anyting to make it look like it was Marvel related. It’s been stripped to blend with the other Modular buildings. Daily Bugle is just the building with the sign on top and nothing else but the building.
Avengers tower might be good… it better be if it’s going to be $500+
Same but don’t forget we have the avengers tower coming in November!
I really want someone to make a MOC with two of the Spider man final battle and two of the upcoming Spider Man Vs sandman
We need that spiderman no way home set. Lego need to hire me i would give you great sets holly. For example how about a set with iron man with his racecar, happy, pepper and whiplash. Honestly that awful armoury set was awful.

So far the best Marvel set probably ever was the Quinjet. Looks good, pretty good size, not expensive, has a good number of good looking minifigures. Playable but also looks good on display. I have similar feelings toward that upcoming No Way Home set too. But considering the age of the MCU, the number of these good sets should be way higher.
I tend to lean more towards Lego wants to sell product and maybe the mechs and buildable characters is actually what sells. I think the same goes for the Star Wars sequel trilogy, what Lego set right now revolves around the sequel trilogy? Maybe they didn't sell so why bother paying for the resources with no ROI.
Very solid video, completely agree with you in most aspects. Spiderverse figures need to be included in spiderman sets next year
Give Secret Invasion a chance! I’ve hated all the recent MCU projects but have really been enjoying this one!
Marvel sets are geared toward the masses. Some for younger, some for collectors. I think they have just enough sets and are getting better. It is clear that post Infinity Saga, Marvel is off track...until Nov 24th.
Can you please review all the lego starwars rebels minifigures?
At least you didn't get 3 Batman vs joker sets.
Wait till you hear what the DC fans get.
It's nice to see the Lego Spider-Man no way home final battle set but I'm more for the DC universe batman in general and I'm so happy with the varied sets available marvel we get numerous hulkbuster sets thanos in every set give us X-Men sets, based on older films like the incredible hulk sets this is what marve is doing to you and everyone else.
I think most will agree regarding the MCU and what Lego has been doing lately. It is so fatiguing to keep seeing slightly different figures come out. Years ago I wanted them all…now I feel like it’s never ending. Let’s hope we get more variety. Even the new CMF series looks disappointing. Would have been sick to get a vision ultron from what if with the infinity stones. I’d rather have a bunch of different obscure characters then the same character re skinned. It’s the same with other collectibles such as Hot toys, I stopped collecting 1/6th because of the same thing.
