I believe the Disney Castle will get a re-release. So I did not buy one. Huge risk if true. However, if LEGO never re releases the set, you probably have the greatest LEGO investment ever right there.

I think the Disney land castle was leaked, so there probably won't be a rerelease of the original castle for a while.

Lego makes it their mission that ppl don't collect them for profit. That's why they re release sets they see ppl trying to scalp or sell at a huge profit due to rarity. They want everyone to be able experience lego. They don't want it to turn into what it seems you mite be trying to do. Jus sayin.

Fair enough but let me ask one question and then we can let it rest. Lego sets are usually on store shelves for several years. This offers everyone a chance to buy the sets they want. They then have to retire sets as they have to make way for the new sets. At the end of the year when sets are about to retire retailers put sets on clearance because they have NOT sold. People buy them and hold on to them for several years so that a new group of Lego enthusiasts can buy them (albeit at a premium like any rare object.) how does that stop people from experiencing Lego?

@@TheBRICHouse I was just stating what lego does and why. I have heard the frustration from ppl trying to collect these for profit. When lego sees a particular set going for more than it should from re sellers they will re release it to keep ppl from capitalizing on it. I was honestly bummed out when I found this out because that's why I like to collect legos too. I would like to think they would be worth alot of money some day. Especially the mini figure mystery bags lol. I'm honestly not condemning this. Only pointing out what I have read and what other collectors have told me. This actually happened to keep w the stranger things set. I wanted to get it but we waited too long. Then it was selling for 500 plus on re sell sites. Waited another week and lego had a bunch more for regular price.

@@chrisjames5823 I agree there are some who take the Lego investing to an extreme and have no real passion for lego. Unfortunately that is the world we live in. There are some sets I hope to sell for a profit and some I plan to keep forever because they are awesome. But I also give away a lot of sets and plan to give away a lot more. Time will tell and I appreciate your thoughts.

bricklink set are what you get when people do it 100% for passion without any investors or virtue signaling interfering, all bangers sets

Shoutout for leaving a Disney castle for someone else to purchase and enjoy! Some people I’ve seen would’ve taken all 3 and stalked the store for the other 2 boxes.

Let's think about it a bit. Are kids playing with Legos? No. Next generations will not be buying Legos. Once the 70s/80s kids nostalgia thing wears off.....I just don't see how Lego will continue to go up. It almost seems like Lego is on it's last leg right now.

​@@TheLEGOGuru Not for as long as we did. Boys between 3 and 7 years old play with legos. Nowadays at 5 years old kids are playing on PS5's online with their friends. Plus LEGO sells tons of varieties of sets. Too many to invest

He said he gave one to his son. I did the same for years. From the age of two. All four of my children, who grew up on Lego. Now young adults and have doing so well. My 19 year old daughter just graduated Magna, and I surprised her with the Polaroid camera. She was elated and proudly displays it. LEGO is forever. And for Everyone.

Great video Shane. Good to see you don't get carried away with buying sets for the sake of it and have a clear thought out process. You can't go wrong with those Disney sets. I'm thinking they might bring out a Disney Castle with a platinum theme for the 100 years celebration but it won't be as big as the classic castle set.

I found one of a set 71040 and I paid $459 for it tax, shipping and all, I would have paid $384.12 with taxes from lego so I paid $75.72 over retail. Idk if that’s bad or not but it’s best deal I could find as I’m doubtful lego will replenish stock by end of year.

Awesome tour. You picked up some great sets. May have to hold on to some for a while like you said but really great picks. Batwing is my favorite.

As a F1 fan I can assure you, if was interested in acquiring the Mclaren, I would want it with Pirelli tires. If I was an investor, I would have done the same.

I’m just a collector, but really you never wanna invest in roller coasters. You can pick any of the coasters up used these are retired sets btw selling for $100 to $150 out the box sealed these sets are still selling at retail $400 or less than because of the extreme amount of hate they get online. The only sought after set is the carousel. They’re pretty flawed sets. I would invest in a Lego Disneyland rollercoaster set if they ever release one

Do you think the 20th Anniversary Slave 1 will keep increasing in value over time? Right now they are averaging around $190-$200 sealed. Perhaps $300+ one day?

They jumped when the name slave one was changed but they have been at 290 for awhile. I think they will stay at 200 for several years so I may sell a few in the spring depending on how the economy is and keep one or two

If you go to brick economy I'm the web it'll show you the increased value of the past retired. Some of only doubled in price but there are a lot that have more than doubled. You can make more than 50 to 100 on some just so you know.

I think it is a great set and the best of all of the tv show sets. If you are a fan of the show I would build it and enjoy it!

My fear would be losing them to fire or water damage or even theft. To me it feels like having cash laying around in a room because there’s no safe bank to store it in

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS from Lego Technic is unreal. The Price in Germany was 180€, today the Set cost around 700€!

@@TheBRICHouse That's good. Not a good idea to store things exposed out in the open. I think some people make that mistake because they see them in stores that way, where they have to be. Take it easy.

I suggest investing in LEGO Star Wars mainly, it is a growing topic that gets lots of attention and value!

The James Bond speed champion is one I plan to put together so I only have one. But it will be a great collectors item in the future and when it gets ready to retire I will buy several. I think the James Bond mini fig will actually be quite valuable.

I love your collection! I love the star wars series in particular. I wish I would have got the 20th anniversary before it retired. I was able to pick up the star destroyer that was retiring for a decent price, and currently installing lights on the UCS Falcon. Do you think the value of the sets hold their value if they are opened?

All sets are much less valuable once they are opened. I just had a friend who found a complete Lego train set in his attic from 2004. All the pieces and instructions were there but the tape was open. So I could have sold it on eBay for $350-$400. A sealed version of the same set is selling for $800 on eBay. You should enjoy LEGO and build what you want but maybe buy two so you can maybe sell it in the future.

I am not a big fan of the licensed tv sets. I think Central Perk was great and queer eye was a bust. The office was a very popular show and I think it will appreciate in value depending on how long it stays on shelves.

Remember..."something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it". Doesn't matter what a seller is selling it for on Ebay, OffUp, Mercari etc. The market is saturated with too many new sellers. My 2 cents.

Totally agree. That is exactly what I said in my first room tour video, And currently there are too many in the game but this year the weak hands will shake out as the economy continues to worsen. I have a long term strategy and don't plan on selling much of anything for several years.

Hi Ashton. The set did not really interest me and I don't think it is going to appreciate that much.

keep in mind the new tax laws regarding online sales that came into effect as of 2022 - total online sales within the calendar year of 2022 that exceed $600 is subject to 15% tax - expect a 1099 Form from paypal, vimeo, etc. as they are sending your transactions to the IRS.

You are correct. That is why I have not sold any sets of real value and when I do I will sell them at Lego conventions (I have a sales certificate because I own an S-Corp) which will keep my taxes lower because I can write off the cost of good sold.

I have two sets. I bought one in 2021 for 140 euros (9/10). I bought the second set two months ago for 300 euros (top condition 10/10). I've been following this set and haven't seen it in 2022 for 200 euros. This set has a lot of potential. The TV series is popular all over the world. 40549 is also worth 15 euro 🙂

Great question. O have fun building Lego and spending time with my kids so I don’t count that as work! If you mean just the investment part of it I would say it is definitely worth it. I have invested about $25k into the sets you see and they are probably worth almost double that. Now obviously I would have to sell them to realize those gains but I can assure you my 401k did not double in value this past year! In addition, the seed money I used to buy these sets game from another hobby I have ( bourbon collecting). That is why I have no plans to sell most of these sets for a few years.
