LEGO Engine With 4 Speed STICKSHIFT (shifting and destruction )
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Today’s video involves a LEGO setup design to replicate how an automobile power train works. This model demonstrates the necessary procedures when operating a transmission and the consequences when done wrong. Up next will be a 6 speed for bigger and better destruction.

I wanna see more of these videos bro keep it up your awesome.
Now do it with an LPE so you don't need a power supply to run it. Money shift won't destroy modern transmissions, just overrev the hell out of your engine, and even then in a well designed engine it will only be an issue for the valvetrain. Like seen in the video, you're more likely to also end up getting a lot of forward roll on the car with the wheels locking up or the axles snapping. If you had a clutch it would have spun. The addition of a clutch would have helped your shifting situation a lot.
You have to increase the rpm when down shifting aka match speed

gamer nick - to be fair, he just needed to remove the load from the input to the gearbox, this would give enough play for the gears to mesh properly, and is how clutchless shifting is done too (main video on my channel shows me clutchless shifting on one of my bikes - tension the shifter, lightest drop of revs to remove load, and it drops right into gear. My focus does the same lol)
@grantleland6913

@@the_mad_ratter I've been thinking about a CVT for a bicycle (I do a lot of mountain biking) because when you are pedaling uphill you lose the most amount of energy during the actual shift of the gears... If you were able to only have one rear sprocket that can change its diameter instead of 7-10 like most mountain bikes then there would never be a moment when you don't have power going to the wheel. I've seen someone put a conventional CVT (2 cones that move back and forth to change the gear ratio) on a bike and it is totally impractical because of its weight and need for electrical components. Anyway I bet it would possible to make something like this out of Legos which is why i am sharing... Cool motorcycle videos too, ive been able to shift my manual truck without the clutch too it's kinda fun

Small correction, first gear is a lower ratio then fourth gear. In the automotive industry, a 8:1 first gear is considered low, while a 0.5:1 overdrive gear is considered very high
This would make an excellent rc car
so cool. Would be nice for teachers to ask students to build transmissions based on legos

@@madbrick923 doesn't matter how many cylinders at has, I just like there's a little Honda even in Lego engines. :) By the way excellent video I'm sure it was a lot of work putting all that together. But I really did enjoy the video.
Cant wait for the 6 speed big flywheel! You should use dual motors
6 speed will be interesting for sure, if you can you should have a differential final drive..spool setup with 2 axles.
That thing sounding like a Diesel!!!
Everyone loves a good Money Shift
Been wanting to see an electric motor for a car do this. By simulating Pistons, you create an ICE feel
This Lego transmission goes into gear smoother than my Miatas transmission
Maybe i suggest making a clutch? i remember a video showing a lego clutch. iirc, it's 2 circles. 1 for the engine and 1 for the gearbox. you push it back so you can shift, like stepping on a clutch. you need friction for them both to work properly.
Very interesting. Perhaps sbapshots of how the parts look afterwards?
that reminds me strongly of one of my Lego RC conversions.... i had to break the axles loos every 3 mins bcs the friction weld on to the bearing
So cool
When I was 13 I made a 3 speed gearbox you could shift attached to a vehicle. It wasn't quite as elegant as this, but it worked and you could shift it
Very cool, but I have some advice that would make it a lot simpler to connect the motor. If you get basic remote control car components (battery, controller, receiver, motor) you could get rid of all of the stuff that you had connected to the motor and have a very simple set up that is also mobile.
the lego engine goes BRRRRUUUUUMMMMM xD
Will we be able to get instructions on the gearbox or is it available to buy?
Very nice! That's a really good representation of how it all works, although you need a clutch to complete the picture. I'm not sure how a clutch would be accomplished in lego but I'm sure it's possible.

5:54 engine breakes in a middle of a drive me: THERES NO BREAKES I CANT STOOP IIIIIITTTTTT
I made a 4 speed manual (not including reverse!) on a truck MOC that had a motor driven engine I also added a pump for more realistic sounds. Very complex as I did it when I was a young child 😂 The transmission was the hardest part, but the gearstick looked good after. My next project is to change the splitter! Edit it was a Lego motor 😁
The money shift XD
When he first starts the top speed test it sounds like a detroit diesel
Btw if you know this you are a car mechanic the reason why you should start at first gear is because it puts a lot of power to the cars weight and it's useful to go up steep hills like your going off roading or going up the hills in a semi and shifting up is like to go faster and the first gear is the start of it.
Going from 4th to 2nd, or 2nd to 4th, is capable of being done without destroying the transmission or the engine. It's called floating the gears.
