@@Rheisler1475 they are great cars! I've owned 6 Mazdas since '92. They keep getting better with each generation. Extremely high quality and very reliable. Put over 100k miles on several and over 200k on my '07 Mazda3. The '14 Mazda3 I have now has 115k miles with no issues other than a broken sunroof switch and hinge on the center console lid. Many car companies are moving away from it, and some luxury cars never used it. The Toyota Century is one such car and it’s the equivalent of a Rolls Royce.

The 6-speed auto is what it is on purpose. They don’t need a 7, 8, or 9 speed because Mazda already offers the best 6-speed auto in the segment. It is actually a version of an Aisin transmission. Mazda is not at all behind the times with this transmission.

This is my first time watching your channel, and I have to admit a couple things: I was not expecting the level of knowledge you bring to the viewer. You seem comfortably conversational in industry car speak, and it's a refreshing departure from young guys that simply throw specs at you without any insightful context. You also manage to keep the enthusiastic hyperbole to a minimum, which I think helps less-young viewers like me stay interested in the content. I hope the dealer treated you very well for this premium plug; job well done!

No rear USB and wish the tach, not the speedo, was centered in the guage cluster (Porsche) but those are minor nits I am picking. This car, in base and loaded form, is just perfect. It does everything exactly as I would have wanted it from the exterior design to the engine to the driving dynamics to the interior design to the fit and finish and materials to the infotainment. Well done, Mazda.

  • @kenhoward3512

The interior sounded as quiet as others have mentioned (when not revving the engine). Regarding the 6-speed auto trans, I believe the extra gears in other, newer transmissions only offer additional overdrive ratios (to hunt back-and-forth between) for increased highway fuel economy, typically not affecting the lower gears for quicker acceleration. I'm glad Mazda has chosen to keep using their nicely-programmed and proven automatic with six, well-spaced gears - and, especially, not a CVT.

Was on my way out to the gym and got the notification for this video and was like "...ok maybe I'll go in 30 minutes" ;P Although I'm not in the market now, and used to drive a 3GT 2014, I've been very interested in the car as a matter of sentimentality and being a fan of Mazda's philosophy of car design and engineering. And it looks like they have achieved what they set out to do, to keep driver involvement while going premium. You even revealed a few extra thoughtful touches they added that I didn't expect, like the touch sensitive door handles, the inside trunk handle that looks sculpted than inset, and that hatchback remote lock button. It's however a pity there are no cooled seats even as an option. I find that an oversight since they are fantastic on the 6. And other competitors do offer them. That said, you get a windshield projected HUD which is unheard of at that price range. I still hope Mazda redesigns the CX-5 in 2 years for me to consider it after my lease. If not, I'll still have a big soft spot for the company and continue following their reveals closely. They deserve the success. As far as your review, I do find it a bother to have so much focus issues from your camera, which can be distracting. I understand your budget is limited however and can look past it given your attention to detail when filming interiors. I also wish it wasn't filmed inside the garage where lighting is very harsh. Not to mention the least appealing interior colour of all black is shown which IMO hides a lot of the premium look of this interior. Regardless, keep it up, success comes with patience and persistence and I appreciate your frequency of content release!

26:32 They "cut corners" or saved on production by having the engine and transmission carry over, most of the platform is carried over, and then they use a Torsion Beam rear set up, and that is your savings right there. Not a bad way to go since they already had such a great engine set up, to begin with. I have worked on high milage modern Mazdas (mostly CX-5s) engines purr even after 360,000+ kms (or 223 693.629 miles for our American friends) they all only had routine maintenance and some an extra brake job. That's the Japanese reliability I grew up with and Love!

  • @buchajo

Love the design of the new 3's, that alone makes me wish I was in the market but I also count myself lucky that my 2014 3 has a ton of life left in it. After years of buying Toyotas and Hondas, I bought a 2019 Forte LXS. One, the amount of high tensile steel is unmatched by any manufacturer until you reach the price point of the German cars. Fuel economy right off the bat was 40 mpg. I hate CVT's, but the Forte's real World fuel economy is amazing. Also, assembly lines, interior fit and finish is amazing. What was the final thing that made me buy it is that it was sold to me for 15,900 plus taxes and fees. The New Mazda is amazing, but I'm not going to pay 10,000 dollars more for a car that also has a Torsion beam rear suspension too. Also, Designed by Peter Schreyer and Gregory Guillaume (Kia's Chief Designer from Audi) at Kia's European studio in Frankfurt and engineered by former BMW M Vice President of Engineering Albert Biermann, makes it a complete and good car. Mazda has beautiful styling, but in a class that has been traditionally economically driven, and the lack of high end historical vehicles, ( Unlike Toyota that has Lexus, and VW having, Audi, Bentley for example). Also, who does Mazda have that matches Albert's credentials. Is the Mazda 3 good? Yes. It is because there's still people that want styling over substance.

@@cargueone1971 I once owned a new 2012 Kia Sorento SX AWD so I'm a big fan of Hyundai/Kia products, however this new Mazda3 is class leading along with the Civic sedan. An AWD top trim Mazda3 may even squeeze past the Civic Touring sedan as much as it pains me to admit. The Kia Forte/Hyundai Elantra share the same 147hp engine in all their trims (except the Elantra Sport) which has been surpassed by almost all the competitors cars in this class. At least your Forte will still beat a base Nissan Sentra in a drag race 😉😉

@@ivanlowjones well, it's a LXS. The new platform has lots of high tensile steel, which makes it very rigid . The build quality inside is very good, embarrasses the Civic. As for the outside, the Civic assembly lines don't align well. Buying cars for 30 years, I find it great. Most importantly, I get 40 mpg with out trying. The Chain driven CVT is superior than the Honda's push belt, and the ancient 6 speed Automatic on the Mazda. I've always owned manual transmissions, but this CVT is great and has a wide ratio of gearing. Moves good enough for me. Most importantly, I bought my Forte LXS for 15,900, with Apple and Google play. 8 inch screen, lane assist and collision avoidance system. Alloy wheels. As nice as the Civic and 3 is, I'm not going to pay an extra 10 grand to get a car equipped like I one I got. Also I drive 30k a year. I have other classic fun cars to enjoy. The Forte is an amazing buy. 147hp is fine. Feels no different than a Corolla SE with the new 2.0 engine. A Civic touring sedan is 28k. There's plenty of things I can invest with the money I saved.

They don't need to cut corners. From the original release of the first 3, the price has gone up almost 30% of its former starting point. It's a bit of risky move to have it so close to mid size pricing, but then again, I own a 3, love it to death and plan on getting a Hatch with the skyactiv x, so I couldn't care less for how much the prices rose over the years.

So I’m hoping for a Mazda speed 3 since it’ll look like the first gen! Love the new Mazda 3 hatchback 👌🏼

It's a great idea to review them side by side, although I would have liked to see more of the rear interior visibility. I'd also suggest, and every reviewer does it, that doors and dashboards don't have leather. No car, except full-on luxe, uses leather anywhere you don't actually touch. So anything but the top seat surfaces, wheel and shift knob is going to be vinyl. Although I'm sure they look and feel like leather. Great reviews!

The base model of 2019 Mazda 3 is much better than the higher end model of the other brand except probably the automatic driver's seat and a few safety features, other than that this is the most beautiful base model. I just love the hatchback with any color but if you add a little bit the soul red crystal and polymetal gray is gorgeous. Mazda is a small company but they're putting a lot of resources in design and R&D. And a lot of good and dedicated engineers as well. By the way, I thought if the key fob is inside, the car doesn't lock itself as per CX-5 review and it will blip for you to hear.🏎🏎🏎👍👍👍💪💪💪

You failed to mention the optional red interior on the hatchback and that 2019 includes a larger infotainment screen, which unfortunately is no longer touch screen, more speakers, and 3 extra inches of rear legroom because Mazda 3 is now 3 inches longer! Now Mazda just needs 8,9, and 10 speed transmissions!

Congrats Man on the 30k! Great Review. Just from your short drive, I can see that the interior noise levels seem much lower than the previous one. Glad to see the touch sensors on the exterior doors. The only that stood out for any as annoying is the lack of rear seat air vents on the back of the center console. I know many brands do this but on a four door vehicle above 25k, those should be standard. JMHO.

With the current “ buzz” surrounding the hatch , they should have a sport option for the sedan and a nice smooth 3.0 v6 with DOHC available with manual trans only and front drive only. It would sale and sail , or “ fly” . The hatches will get a lot of attention, especially from the police 🚔

With all of the features that come in the premium package, it completely shocks me that Mazda didn't include homelink in the package. Outstanding review. In my honest opinion, the sedan for 2019 is far better looking than the hatch, with the exception of the blacked out grill. I have seen both models in person. Well done Mazda.

  • @burakdenizbinay7450
    @burakdenizbinay74502 жыл бұрын

Thank you for the great comparison. Btw, recently I checked both cars at a dealer. In fact the sedan's is much brighter, actually, inside of the hatchback is not that dark. Perhaps, I would only avoid the tinted glass on HB. That causes the main issue. Also, I was kind of sedan guy, and was thinking to buy one of the low trims of it. However, the standard tail lights (non-led) are dealbreaker for me. Not only that they are awfully designed, also for the huge back of the car those lights are so small. Standard HB tail lights are at least having ring design. I can live with that. But If I decide to buy sedan, I guess I need to save more money to get better trim with led lights.

I hated that I had to get an automatic. I didn't want a premium model, especially not the hatchback in order to get the manual so I settled. Kinda disappointing but at least it's a smart automatic, very good at holding gears and holding back from upshifts in corners.

James Steven The AWD 6MT Skyactiv X is showing up in in other markets now. Rumor is that at least the Skyactiv X will show up in the US later in 2020, since it is sharing platforms with the CX-30. Cross shopping, if you really want a nice mid priced sedan vehicle that still offers a stick. The Honda Accord Sport, or the VW GLI are at the top of the list. No waiting. You can go to any dealer lot now and get one. The Honda, with the 1.5t gets almost 40 mpg as well.

According to Fuelly, the real world mpg for 2.5L Mazda 3 is about 30 mpg. Pretty good fit that displacement. Plus it's traditional automatic and naturally aspirated so it will have much better reliability and maintenance than a CVT and turbo.

But a car that gets 40 highway is "excellent" to almost everyone. Thats only 5 miles difference. And with the adaptive cruise control or whatever they call it, you can get even better gas mileage. Once its on and running, and can slow you to a stop and then speed up again. Not the most fun way to drive but you get those extra mpgs out of it.

Great review! I was really looking forward to the new 3 finally coming out to replace my 08 3. However, I can’t help but feel that this was released half baked (aside from sky active X not being ready at release and no turbo option). It’s gorgeous inside and out, but where is the heated steering wheel? Ventilated seats? 360 camera monitor & parking sensors? Remote start? Why is the sunroof only available on top trim with premium package? Why can’t you get the sedan with the red interior or black wheels & grill? Also, why no heated seats on the pleather interior? No one wants to sit on fake leather in the freezing cold. It’s unfortunate, I really wanted this with AWD, but I think I’ll have to pull the trigger on the Cx-5 Signature instead to get the features I want and just deal with the outdated 7-inch Mazda Connect.
