""Kara Toprak"ı bestelediğim 1997 yılından beri bu parçamı binlerce kere seslendirmişimdir. Bu parça müzisyenler arasında "Piyanonun Türkçe Hali" diye anılır. Aradan yıllar geçti, bu eser pek çok uluslararası piyanistin repertuvarına girdi. "Kara Toprak"ın duyar duymaz tanıyacağınız tınısı - sol el ile piyanonun tellerine bastırıp kaydırarak, Türk Halk Müziğindeki makamlardaki ara sesleri elde etme arzusu - yeni bir denemeydi. Bu parçada Alevi halk ozanımız Aşık Veysel'in bir yalnızlık türküsü olan "Sadık Yarim Kara Topraktır" eserinden "esinlenme" vardır. Bu sefer bir piyanistin, bir çağdaş sanatçının "Yalnızlık Türküsü" hissedilir. Bu yüzden bu beste, Veysel'in müziğine çok uzak olsa da, DNA'larından akrabadır. Dolayısıyla "Kara Toprak" adlı eserim, Anadolu toprağından bir dostluk fidanı gibi çıkan Aşık Veysel'e ithaf edilmiştir." Fazıl SAY

Cem Adrian’ın yeteneğini ilk Fazıl say keşfetti ve sahnesine çıkardı 2004 yılındaydı yanlış hatırlamıyorsam. Cem Adrian/Fazıl Say- ben bu şarkıyı sana yazdım

Do you remember Cem Adrian-Summertime? Summertime's crazy pianist is Fazil Say and Fazil Say noticed Cem Adrian's talent in 2004 when Cem wasn't a popular singer

First part is the time when you were born. Second part is your youth and your first kiss, friends, family vacations, your wife, your kids as your best moments in your life. And the third part is your last years before you arrive to the Black Earth. Black Earth: The earth you lay beneath when you die. We use this a lot in our culture. We came from the ground and one day we'll belong there again.

It is not an ottoman music. The original song is a composed version of Anatolian Turkish folk music, written and composed by a rhapsodist, Asik Veysel, who Ataturk met in person and supported his career during his life.

Ben de yazdım da cevap vermiyor. Anlamadım açıkçası. Fazıl Say tellere dokunarak "baglama" tonunda bir ses oluşturuyor diye de yazdım. Videoda sorduğu soruların cevabını verdim ama yanıt vermiyor. Anlamadım :(
