I saw it first on the wall in a restaurant and I had to tell the waitress to STOP TALKING and to come back in five minutes. lol. Apologized later and left her a really Big tip. Lol

This was state of the art technology when this came out...

Hank Jr stopped to visit one of his dad's friends. He told Jr that Hank had left a song with him not long before he passed. This is that song. I saw Hank Jr do this live. During this song there was a light going across the ceiling with Hamk Sr driving a Cadillac

Well, that would put a tear in you beer! Hank Jr. once said, "I'm proud to be the son of Hank Williams." I think that smile said it all.

I'm in my 70s and I can remember my daddy singing Hank Williams songs to mama. He couldn't sing but it didn't seem to matter.

The story goes that around 1951, country singer, and front man for Hank Williams Sr, Bill Lister, needed a drinking song for his recording session, and Hank said, “I’ll fix you up one that’ll cock your pistol”. So after Hank’s session, when everyone left, he stayed behind in the studio and recorded that song on an old acetate record, just him and his guitar and got it to Bill the next morning. Bill learned it that morning and cut it that night. 38 years pass, and Bill had forgotten about it. Hank had already been dead almost that long by then, and Bill’s wife found a box of old stuff, and he said, “It’s probably just a bunch of old junk. Let’s just throw it out”. His wife said, “Well maybe we should listen to some of this”. They came up on “Tear in My Beer”, Hank Sr’s original demo”. Hank Jr was coming in town to visit Bill anyway, and they were talking about hunting and such, and then Bill said, “By the Way, take this with you. I think you might like to have it”. Hank Jr had never heard the song.Sometime later, he said, “I wanna record this with daddy’s voice from the original demo as a duet”. That demo was one of the only ones of those old records Bill had that survived that long. So it was meant to be. The footage of Hank Sr, I believe was of when he sang “Hey Good Lookin’” live from one of his televisions. So what they did, they used that footage, imposed him into the setting, and then they had to audition lips to try to find someone who had similar lips to his, to mouth the words so it’d look like Hank Was singing the words in the video and it would match the audio.

The creativity behind that video is incredible. Especially for the time period. And opening with a super electrical storm gives the impression (and I’m sure it was intended) that it caused a “time warp or tear” in the fabric of the universe. Also, that look on your face when you saw the shadow was priceless. You had the look of ‘wtf is going on here?’ I’ve seen other reactors do this video but they didn’t have enough background or info to really understand what they were seeing. I’m glad your “journey” has given you that. It DO make a difference. Lol

His father was already gone 50 years when this was filmed, and thanks to technology, he could sing it with his legendary dad Hank Williams Sr.

I love this kind of blending singers past and present! I've never heard this version. This definitely after Hank Jr.'s accident, he has the heavier beard and large sunglasses. Natalie Cole did this as well with her father Nat King Cole, the song is Unorgettable. He died of lung cancer when she was 15. You should definitely check it out.

Hank jr. is older than his father was in this old video. If you go back to the first of the video you’ll see Hank jr sitting in his dads lap as a baby .

Hank Jr was 3 1/2 years old when Sr died. Hank wrote this song for Bill Lister who recorded it, but it didn't go anywhere. The acetate demo disk remained in Bill Lister's attic in San Antonio Texas for 40 years until it was given to Hank Jr. who recorded with it and added some video clips and mastered himself into the video clips to make the video. It won Academy of Country Music Awards (1990) Country Music Video of the Year Award CMA Awards - Country Music Association (1989) Music Video of the Year and was nominated for a Grammy Award (1990) Best Music Video/ short film .

Such an incredible video and yes totally loved how they were able to turn that into a duet between Hank Williams Senior and Hank Williams Junior and yes so amazing with the technology that they were able to find some old film of Hank Williamssinger singing a song and is able to turn into a duet

If you would like to do a unique review/reaction as a companion piece to this video I would suggest Hank Williams III. Hank 3 is the music industry outcast son of Hank Williams JR and sings old school country like his grandfather Hank SR(looks just like him too) and is a heavy metal musician in addition.

When Hank Jr. was just a kid his mother pushed him to give concerts singing his dad's songs, and after awhile he made the decision to distance himself from Hank Sr.'s work. As years past I believe it became easier for him to have his own style while still honoring his father.

The best thing about the background story is that this is not a cover or a remake. It was completely new material. A former associate of Hank Sr. found the master tape of a recording session of this song which had never been released. He passed it on to Hank, Jr. who decided to make this recording. You have to remember that this was 1990, and the technology for this kind of thing was relatively new. The song won Grammy Award for best country collaboration with vocals Country Music Association Award for music video of the year Academy of Country Music Award for Video of the Year Country Music Association Award for the vocal event of the year. The song might not have been the greatest quality music for either of these artists in their career, but it was the nostalgia and the impact of who they were and what they meant to country music that made it a great release.

Hank Jr just about left this world in 1973 I think it was when he fell down that mountain side like 400ft. Yea his eyes essentially popped out of his head and his face is a little disfigured from that incident.

My grandparents raised me and my sister, so I grew up listening to to Hank Sr. My grandpa would sing this song to us all the time. I have a video of me being 3ish singing this song.

This was the first video where one of them had been gone for many years, I remember when Hank Jr. won the best video award, he said “See that Dad, we got to sing together.”

They took the only filmed tv program they had of Hank Sr., slowed it down, transposed Hank Jr's lips to his dad's face singing this song. It's still amazing to me to watch. Great video. want more duets of singers who never sang together?? ln the early 80's they came out with Patsy Cline& Jim Reeves "Have you ever been lonely(have you ever been blue)" & "l fall to pieces" Jim Reeves & Deborah Allen "Oh how l miss you tonight" There are more as the technology became available to do so. if you what more examples, just ask. Thers's a whole cd called Patsy Cline "duets" Vol 1from 1999.

Absolutely amazing what they did with this hit by Hank Sr. Wonderful to see the 2 generations come together to generate a new and improved version. Reminiscent of Nat King Cole and Natalie singing "Unforgettable". Another song you need to do Craig. Great reaction. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

This video was ground breaking when it came out and you gotta feel for Hank Jr.. when he won best music video at the CMA the emotion was high

One of my favourite Hank Williams Jr songs is actually an early song before the accident that almost killed him the name of the song is called "Standing In The Shadows " it's about his dad .

The Hank duet is wonderful. However there is now Hank III, the have a couple of songs when all 3 sing together.. Honky tonk blues, I'm a long gone daddy, and move it on over. Just to name a couple.

I don't know much about computer graphics or whatever was used to do this, but I have no idea how they could make it appear that Hank Jr. walks BEHIND his dad but IN FRONT of the band members. It might be as easy as rolling off a log but to me it is amazing. This is not my favorite song by either Jr. or Sr. but I love it because the two of them are together. My favorite songs by Hank Jr. are Rainin' in my Heart, Heaven Can't be Found, A Country Boy Can Survive and Eleven Roses and my favorite songs by Hank Sr. are I'm so Lonesome I Could Cry, Mansion on the Hill, Your Cheatin' Heart and Be Careful of Stones that you Throw. Great songs and I would love to see you react to any of them. I love to watch your reactions but my favorite reactions by you remain how you reacted to David Allan Coe's, You Never Even Called Me By My Name and George Jones' He Stopped Loving Her Today. I quite often go back and watch them over again.

Technology is sweet when used in the right hands. Another piece like this is with Celine Dion and Elvis, it was a great project done live for American Idol a few years back. It looked so real. I'd never seen this video, I enjoyed it very much, thank you.

Please listen to Hank Jr's "Weather Man" He has so many great songs, but this one is by far my favorite and in my opinion seriously underrated. Give it a listen and you'll see why. His voice...chilling!

This is the first video that I can remember where editing was done to make a video like this. And as you would say, I absolutely love it!! To see Hank Jr sing “with” his late father is just so heartwarming. Lisa Marie Presley has done something similar with Elvis for his song “Don’t Cry Daddy”. I would recommend that video to you because I know you’re a huge Elvis fan.

There was a movie about Hank senior and Hank Jr sang all the songs. I think it was called Your Cheatin’ Heart and came out in about 1965. I saw it when it came out and found it on Amazon.

Hank was born with an undiagnosed case of "Spina Bifida Occulta" which is the mildest form of a birth defect in which there is incomplete closing of the spine. Which gave him lifelong pain, a factor in his later abuse of alcohol and drugs. There is a movie about his life called "I Saw The Light" and I've heard the Williams family had mixed reviews about the movie. Some had to trouble with the fact that they had a British actor play the part. Great reaction, thanks for sharing

There is a movie called You're Cheating Heart about Hank Sr. Good movie.

Not a big fan of jr or III but THAT is a beautiful father son duet. Powerful seeing him smile when he opens the door to that era. Not a big country fan but hank sr.’s haunting vocals are amazing.

I always thought that was the best video ever made, to have Hank Jr. and Sr. sing together on stage. Such a great idea for that time in Country Music !!!

These are good songs but most people don’t know the best Hank Sr songs. Lost Highway and I saw the light are the best. The songs that revealed his darkness.

I was having a crazy thought that blew my mind the other day, given the unfortunate news of Queen Elizabeth. It's somewhat possible that Hank Sr could still be alive today. Elizabeth was 96 when she passed. Hank Sr was just over 2 year older than her (His birthday was Sept 17th. He would be 99 years old in 3 days). She took the thrown while Hank Sr was still alive. Just 11 months before his death.. She took the thrown at the age of 25, and Hank was 28 years old. Just crazy to think about, imo.. Because I had always viewed Hank Sr as like a mythical legend that came before everyone else. Partially because I had only seen pics of him my whole life.. It was surreal to me when I finally saw raw video and audio of him for the first time, a few years ago. It was surreal because it was like bringing a myth to life, and made him seem more real.. It'd be like showing somebody raw video and audio of Abraham Lincoln, or something.

You are 100% right. Hank Jr. loved, adored and respected his dad's music. So, not to be disrespectful but I put off watching this for a week because I thought it was the original Hank Williams Sr. song. "Senior" absolutely deserves his place in country music but to be honest, he was my parents "country" which I still don't love. However Hank JR. is totally different. LOVE Hank Jr. and he is always at the top of my playlist. 😄

Hank Jr did an album with his son Hank III, in which they sang duets of Hank Sr classic songs with Hank Sr. Hank III looks and sounds a lot like Hank Sr, so it's really cool and kind of trippy to hear them on a recording together.. Hank III's music outside of that is a bit too niche and much too edgy for my taste. Wish he had more modest stuff, because I know he's capable. Like his song "Country Heroes". That's a great song by Hank III. I LOVE the way the steel guitar is played on that song. Gives me the feeling of a Native American sound for some reason.

My mom has a video circa 1988 of me singing this song in a swimming pool. I was 6 and Hank Sr. was my absolute favorite singer.

You need to take a look at hank the III, when he first started singing he did some of his grandfathers songs, looks and sounds just like him. Not currently that style of music. You should check him out however.

Some of the best poets of country music won’t be recommended by many people on here. Their music isn’t the most popular but it is among the very best. Guy Clark, John Prine, Jerry Jeff Walker, Townes Van Zant, Blaze Foley, Billy Joe Shaver.
