Legendary bassist Trevor Bolder shredding and shredding and shredding

Музыка

This clip is the legendary bassist Trevor Bolder, best known as the bassist of (David Bowie) Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars and more recently touring with Uriah Heep. This video was taken at the uriah Heep show at the Key Club IN Los Angeles on Aug. 18th 2011. I'm not sure what song it is.

Two years ago I got to shake Trevor's hand. I told him that Bowie was lucky to have have played with him. He smiled and positively beamed. I could tell he was a modest guy by nature.. If I had waited to approach him I may never have gotten the chance to cross "Shake hands with a spider from Mars " off my bucket list. Tonight I put Ziggy Stardust, one of the most beautiful recordings ever made, on my stereo and salute an epic talent.

July Morning is the song. I got to meet Trevor outside the Apollo in Glasgow when Heep played with the amazing John Sloman on vocals. When Trevor did his bass solo he tripped backwards and didn't even lose a note. I was a fan before but that show just blew me away and he has been up there with the very best bassists ever since that day. He was using his Kramer DMZ 360 i think it was. Cracking bass tone on that tour. He manages to capture the essence of the late great Gary Thain from his live performances of the song altho Paul Newton did the original studio version. Jings Heep have had some incredible bass players over the years.

Trevor is one of my influences on how i play bass... and i have now played for 30 years. A very modest man if you meet him. Trevor has never really been recognised as one of the leading players who helped shape the sound of British rock.... Bowies music would have sounded completly different without Trevor on bass along with Mick Ronson and Woody Woodmansy. Ask him why he is still touring in his 60s..... coz he still likes to play.

He was a rare example of solo bass player. He could have competed with any solo guitarists. I wish he would have played on stage with Stevie Ray Vaughan - another great musician who colaborated with David Bowie. Sadly all of them are gone.
