The water elemental is the Medium Water Elemental (number 36) from Dragon Eye set of D&D Miniatures Game. That was set #2 released in 2003, eight years before this video was uploaded. D&D minis weren't reused in Heroscape until a much later stage (when Heroscape was starting to die off). Essentially all of the minis in the three D&D board games (Ravenloft, Ashardalon, Drizzt) are unpainted versions of the minis from the D&D Miniatures game.

Someone described it more as a Dungeon Race to the last tile then a dungeon Crawl lol and yeah the water elemental was used in the D&D minis game only it wasn't translucent it was painted blue. the CR Skelton is also the same. and this system is interesting in that it's fun to lose like some video games til you win.

Drizzt imho. Ashardalon kicks you in the nuts super hard, and from what I'm told Ravenloft is even worse. From personal experience, I say Drizzt.

you can mix almost everything; you can mix heroes, villains, monsters, adventures, and even tiles and make one heck of a game. However, there are some encounter cards, and treasure cards specifically for certain situations or heroes, so in that case u draw another card and ignore the previous one. ( if you read the booklet it would be much better but that's pretty much the idea)

"I never play the boys." That's cute. None of my buddy's daughters wanted to play a male fighter/barbarian back in the day, so I had to look for a plastic female fighter/barbarian figure and finally got one in the form of a valkyrie in HeroClix, I think, and maybe used it once! I saw some rare female dwarfs, but haven't seen a plastic one, yet. This was before I got Castle Ravenloft which has a female Ranger and a female Rogue.

@SPBTooL Get Wrath of Ashardalon unless you really want the Ravenloft (undead) or Drizzt (Underworld) theme. Wrath is more generic than Drizzt with the big baddy being a Dragon under the mountain and it has more variety and a few other things are fixed and/or improved from Ravenloft. If you buy a second get Ravenloft as the two really compliment each other well in terms of components and options. The are all great though so pick the theme you like best and go with that one.

@thegreatmerga Maybe because games are meant to be played, and the only real value within those plastic pieces are the meaning we embed in them when we play and have fun. Else they are just molded goo with a production cost of 0.001 cents per piece.

I own all 3 but have only played Castle Ravenloft a dozen times or so. CR was heavily weighted against the player unless you are playing with all 4 heroes at once. Common opinion seems to be that Drizzt has stronger heroes and is an easier game (with less punishing encounter cards being a big part of that) - though it will likely still require 4 heroes at once.

I played some solo games in C.R. two years ago with two characters and usually succeeded if one of my characters was the dwarf cleric (or rogue & ranger). I played the finale a dozen times before I used 3 to win the finale.

lol. Yeah, considering R.A. Salvatore says "Dritz", WoC's promos say "Drist" and I've even heard "Drizz". I don't really know if there is a correct way to pronounce it. My rule of fantasy is if you can't pronounce it, make it up.

  • @RoPinh

This is to make a random dungeon experience. The diference with Dungeon Saga is that DnD Adventure System don't need a Master ( player that play against the players) the monsters have a sequence of action. It makes the DnD board game more akin to Diablo 1 or 2 in terms of Dungeon Crawling while DS is just a simulation of a RPG's combat. Also cause u need adventures to play the game, u can make rules for them. U don't like that it is only 1 tile revealed from time to time? Make a adventure with one of the rules being " when u reveal the next tile u also reveal all the other tiles adjacent to it" etc. It is very open. If u like to control the monsters, and know all the map in advance... Then u shoud look for 'Mage Knight Dungeon', a old game that did all this.

Sounds like a great addition to the Cooperative D&D Series. The game would be much better with less Drizzt. Yeah the water elemental was a D&D Minis model first. They recycled a lot of the older sculpts from D&D Minis for the later Heroscape sets.

Okay, I know this is really old but I have to put this out there. How Tom pronounced it is how I always pronounced it: "drizz-it", because to me, that's how it looks like it should be pronounced. To me, "drizzt" in no way looks like it should be pronounced "drist". The "zz" looks like it makes a "zzzz" sound, not an "ss" sound.
