अवतारी पुरुष मारुती राव जी !एकदम भूमि पुत्र,सरल ,सीधे -सादे, भले,नेक, महान और क्या कहें इनकी तुलना नहीं हो सकती ,बड़े अच्छे इंसान और क्या ज्ञान और कर्म की एक बड़ी मिसाल मारुती राव जी, पंचम दा उनके बिना अधूरे थे ...

Here is the gist of the interview in English for the benefit of those who cannot understand Marathi, kindly provided to me by a relative. Keer learnt Table from Bhanudas Mankane and before that from Bhairav Prasad & Sundar Prasad of the Benares Gharana. He adopted different rythm patterns. Keer first worked with Vasant Prabhu and after that started working with S.D. Burman, which is when he was recognized all over India. However, when he started working with Panchamda he was recognized all over the world. When Keer gave the introductory music in Garam Masala S.D. Burman greatly appreciated it. Keer worked with S.D. Burman for 8 years. He started working for Panchamda with the first movie Raag. Panchamda used to bring quite a few records from abroad and both used to listen to it for long hours, sometimes till 4 am. Once he brought Tumba (not sure what that is) and asked Keer to play it. Keer did not know how to play it. However, Panchamda wanted to introduce it in the movie Manoranjan, where Shammi Kapoor was the Director and Actor. So Shammi Kapoor said play something that sounds like foreign music. So Pancham pointed out to Keer and said he is the person who can do it. Keer played the Tumba and all liked it. Then Pancham introduced the Bongo. Both Panchamda and Keer put their heart and soul into a song from the Burning Train. The song was picturized but never released. That is one of Pancham's all time favorite. For recording the opening music & songs for the movie Pancham used to visit Keer every day, except on a Sunday. Keer then narrated how the Guide movie songs were recorded. A famous dancer was to come from Chennai to Direct Waheeda Rehman's dance "Piya Tose Naina Laage Re". For this, Keer played 4 theka and S.D. liked it very much. For recording the song Hote Pe Aisi Baat from Jewel Thief S.D. Burman asked Keer to create a sound like it is raining outside. So Keer had to create it and S.D. liked it. For the movie Arjun they created a fusion music-- Western rythm to Tabla and switched back from Tabla to Western sounds. --for the song Goli Maro For the movie The Burning Train a song was introduced where two separate heroines danced at two separate style, one Indian and one western style. Both were sung by Asha Bhonsle. Then Amrutrao Katkar was called on stage. He too worked with Panchamda. For the song on Padosan Katkar played a sound created with bamboo. Mere Samne Wale Khidkime. For the song from Sagaar "Sachmere Yaar Hai", again he created the sound with Bamboo. While recording music for Shaan--Panchamda was in a very good mood. He said "Ok, I understand all this music created with plastic, bamboo etc. Now do something with metallic. So then Katkar went to the market during lunch time and bought galvanized iron water pipe. And with a iron rod he created a metallic sound which got recorded for the song Jaanu Meri Jaan, Mai Tere Kurbaan. Then Deepak Naik was invited on the stage. He was introduced by Keer to Panchamda in 1973 and his first movie/song with Panchamda was Dharam Karam--Ek Din bita Jayega, Maati Ke Mol, sung by Mukesh.

Bahut sahi kahaa Sir. They are simple, modest, ubassuming people. Music is all that correct sound they appreciated and lived.

Pancham Da was Soul....Marutirao was the Body...together they made Magical Structure of Indian Bollywood Music... absolute legends....Pure dedication and passion for music...not for any fame...but sheer joy and passion....hats off❤ lucky to be born in this era and to witness this

Master of rhythm " Maruti Rao Keer", tumba, tabla, congo, bongo everything Maruti Rao.. "Aaya hoon main tujhko le jaoonga", 32 matra tumba, amazing, never before and will never be again... Great !

This is what I am looking for. I have seen this film for more than 12 Times at a stretch for this song and the first song. RD Burman was at the zenith of his creativity. As a thumbs player this song is the best ever.

Very simple and down to earth person, Maruti Rao Keer.. Sadly RD & Maruti both are no more.. But their presence will be felt forever as long as Hindi film music exists in this planet...

PM does a fantastic job! But it's such a shame only marathi speaking folks can fully enjoy the interviews. Why PM confines PANCHAM within a language that most of us don't know, is way is beyond the understanding of PANCHAM fans. If programmes of such sincere intent are conducted in hindi, PM would actually be doing what it has originally set out to do. Remember, honour and spread the awareness of the eternal melody of RDB worldwide. Bless you PM & hearty congratulations for what you bring to all BOSS fans.

The introductory music of Aaya hoon main tujhko le jaaoonga, upto the portion where Ashaji starts with Aaali ........ Wiwi, is a superbly designed piece, which I think only an extraordinary genius can create. Don't know who's brain is behind the piece, whether it is Panchamda himself or the music arranger, whoever it is, the person is an extraordinary genius.

... Mother's name is Mrs. Mira Dev Burman. She wrote many songs tuned by her husband. My favourite is "K JAAS RE BAWOOL GAAN... sung by SD or "SUNRI PAWAAN....sung by Lata Tai.

Dear Sanjeev , how we wish we had any recording of him playing an instrument. But unfortunately no such recording is available as per our knowledge. When we invited him for this show , he himself wanted to play but physically it was not possible for him . He himself mentioned it time and again that it would have been great , had he was fit and fine to play his beloved instrument , tabala....
