Hi Rebecca. I am a paralegal and I spend my days doing legal research, organizing files, creating outlines to assist my boss in depositions, and preparing drafts of court pleadings for filing with the courts. In my state, professional paralegals must either be certified or registered. I enjoy the work immensely but I think if I filmed myself doing my job, people would be bored stiff. 😂 I enjoy all of your videos, especially the ones dealing with books and libraries.

Certified as a paralegal, but not a lawyer. Is that right? Paralegals in California are not allowed to advise clients on legal matters. In any case, I had no clue what I was doing here. 😂 so I am happy to be educated on what it's really like to be paralegal. I have memories of working with a paralegal to get my divorce. And the refrain that I kept hearing was that he could not do what lawyers do. He could only get things filed, and papers filled out, etc. but I never had to see a lawyer to get that divorce finished. Somehow, he was able to do everything for me as long as the divorce was amicable between me and my husband. Thank you for your thoughtful comment.

It's funny because I share a rather large office with another paralegal, and many times when she is going through files and sifting through documents, it's total ASMR for me. 😄 I have to get up and move around a little bit or I would probably nod off. I was a paralegal for a very short time and it was a very cozy but stressful job. So accurate when you said “all this mail”. Gosh I must’ve had a stack 2 feet tall accumulated from the person I replaced. So relaxing though. This video reminds me of the cozy parts of the job like going in on a rainy dark gloomy day to my office that I decorated with plants and string lights. We could get snacks and coffee, and my coworkers were fun to chat with as well. 10/10 video for the nostalgia and your lovely ASMR ❤😊

Well, I was a demand writer for several months then was promoted to paralegal. Unfortunately it was just not the best promotion… very little pay increase for almost triple the work, double the expectation, half the appreciation, more hours for no reason, and I was never really into law to begin with. I did really enjoy writing the settlement proposals though, but going back to my old position would’ve been a bit odd at the time. So I ended up leaving the company and have found something I’m more passionate about now 😊
