Legal loophole makes cross border mingling a walk in the park
A U.S. immigration lawyer says a 205-year-old treaty is giving Canadians free access to the American side of Peace Arch Historical State Park - despite a park closure aimed to prevent the spread of coronavirus across the border.

Rebecca Galvan I’m happy that your fiancé and you will reunite soon. My fiancé will fly from Toronto in October for my bday. Ignore the negative comments, not all of us Americans are out partying like many ppl believe. I only see my friends if it’s at an outdoors setting and I limited my time with my older parents. It’s really hard not being with my man, but we have to stay strong and stay safe so we can get thru this pandemic. We both have great partners... look at the hoops they are willing to go thru just to come be with us Love is ESSENTIAL ❤️❤️❤️

is two double standards a quadruple standard?
Why can't the United States and Canada agree to a buffer zone for lack of a better word I can think of say 10 Mile each side of the Border. In which Canadians and Americans both can be in this Zone and that would give people access or maybe one day reach some sort of a tree where are US citizens Canadian citizens can travel freely in each country. It works in Europe

A Schengen-type treaty between the US and Canada would allow free roaming at least of US and Canadian citizens. It works very well in Europe. As a German citizen i have no problems to travel to the Netherlands for a day trip without passport and border check.

this meant that exactly that part belongs to the USA, since the second part of the park belongs to Canada. marking boundaries.

Here’s an idea! If you don’t like it, and you’re scared of getting COVID, you can stay home and avoid this park while everyone else has fun! It’s a little thing I like to call “freedom”!

Fortunately this ended. I wasn't going to travel to Canada to only be locked up in a hotel room for two weeks.
The things we do for love folks...Beautiful and sad...I was amazed how many Canadians and Americans have cross border refreshments together....lol , but love is love , no Nationality on love folks...Hope the Border opens soon for everyone , one day there should be no line if the 2 Countries were to work out some kind of Union with both Countries sovereignty and laws intact...we are in NATO together , NORAD together , play sports together...fight the same assholes together, am I missing anything ? children of a common mother , that is why there is the biggest undefended border on the planet which is the envy of world peace...

@farhad9766

@@victorortizwuellmann474 Yes, the US side has always been open. They will need to cross the ditch at 171 Street and 0 Avenue in Surrey, and you can meet them there on the US side. However your friend, since they are crossing an international border, will need some proof of citizenship. Either a passport, NEXUS, birth certificate, or citizenship card. I brought my birth certificate and they said that was fine.

@@e-curb Well, actually, you’re both correct to some degree. @Mi Shokouhi is correct that in some border towns if you are born there you can have both citizenships at birth, but you’re also correct that the border is a thin line. it has nothing to with them being white, the Canadians had strict rules not Americans. This situation is caused by 2 nations border crossing rules. The US Canadain border isn't dangerous unlike the US Mexico one.

The atmosphere at the US-Canada border looks more relaxed and friendly than my home in Texas on the US-Mexico border , I live in Nye , Anna ave street . My house is near the Rio Grande River. Just open the back door and see Nuevo Laredo Mexico.The border here is only a river separating the two borders

You're only looking at a tiny portion of the US-Canadian border, it's way WAY bigger than the Mexico border and just as strict on drug smuggling and unauthorized entries.
so Trump is going to have to put a glory hole in the wall he builds.
