This was one of the first movies I remember watching over and over with my Father. I remember going with Papa to rent it from the video store and watching it over and over! Papa even made me a stick horse so I could ride like Jim Craig does in the movie. I wore that thing out as well. So many wonderful memories from these films.

Tom Burlinson looked like he had been riding all his life- a natural. Now I know for sure he rode the terrible descent himself- not a stuntman. Thanks for posting this video,I really enjoyed it.

+Thebull3478 Tom Burlinson DID the actual stunt. I've been to the exact place it was filmed. It's a real place and it IS a terrible descent. Why are people still trying to say it was all CGI?!?!?

Just because the camera was tilted a bit - doesn't mean that wasn't an extremely dangerous stunt to perform. Almost all riding stunts are...but that one, complete with jumps, was extraordinary, and still talked about today with hushed respect.

Actually the drop off at kate camerons peak is quite steep & tom burlingson has recently confirmed that he did indeed do the decent. It is not enhanced in anyway. He also admits to being terrified on the way down & said he wouldnt do it again.....thats just for man from snowy river. The return to snowy river comes out. Some claim its the same ride reused but nope...look at the clothing. All different. Whole new ride. The ONLY thing that was choreographed was the death scene of denny which was filmed on flat land in a controled environment then flipped & inserted into the main decent. Oh & also you can do the exact same ride. Go to the watson ranch in australia. Everything is still there, even the hut! The ride will bring you to the top of kates peak. Im doing it in april! Oh & one more thing, tom burlinson is considered to be the REAL LIFE man of snowy river for doing that jump!

Tom burlinson, i just did this ride of yours the other day & saw that cliff from the top looking down. You & the stuntmen who did those jumps for both movies must be crazy! I could barely stand to go near the edge.....& im not afraid of heights lol

The landscape down here in Australia is different. Don't think the greenery of High Country Victoria is typical. There is an inhospitable vastness to most of the country which lends perspective to the smallness of man. (And consider this: Texas, for example, is 258,500 sq miles with a population of 27 million; Australia is 3,000,000 sq miles with a population of 25 million.)

Only the watson ranch will do it as the whole area is private property. You can do the entire ride that lasts a week & see the hut that is still there or you can do a short ride to see the main parts. All end at the top of kate camerons peak. Book well in advance cuz its hard to get a ride in since they are so popular. Also pretty good pricing to! You need both passport & visa to enter that country now though. I found that out the hard way.

Im doing it in april. Find the watson ranch in australia. They own all the property right up to kate camerons peak. The hut is still there to. There are various rides that do some half or the whole ride (7 day trip!) & will bring right to the top! It is possible so get a passport & a visa...yeah they want visas now....& contact the watson ranch to book your ride ahead of time. I booked mine in december last year & the earliest i could get was in april 2019 this year. Thats how popular it is. Also not too expensive either! SO DO IT!
