My take on the Leering skeleton. He's holding the lantern for the grave digger

How did you keep the long pvc pipe from bending over. did you use a long rod of rebar or something pounded into the ground?

I used a shepherd's hook for a hanging basket and cut the top part of the shepherd's took off.

Someone actually discarded the Christmas reindeers which had the motors in them. If you Google reindeer motors you can find a couple of sites that sell them..

What is supporting the main pvc going up to the spine? Is it sitting over rebar stuck in the ground? It looks REALLY good!

There is a 1/2 yellow PVC starting in the neck and coming out the pelvis. Then a 3/4 inch PVC slides down over a cut off shepherd's hook. I slide the 1/2 PVC into the 3/4 inch PVC and use a screw to connect them. This allows me to separate and store them more easily by only taking 1 screw. out. The shepherd's hook also goes thru the wood base and holds it in place and keeps the motor in the same place year after year.

@@stephenambrose2901 Thanks for the reply. So is it all supported by just the pvc? I think a better question for me is, what is keeping it from falling over. Is the base staked into the ground? The motor and the mechanism doesn't seem to me to have enough weight to keep it from toppling? Thank you for your time.

@@CurtisGauger the 3/4 inch PVC slides down over the shepherds hook which has been cut off about 6 inches below the pelvis. The shepherds hook then goes thru the board where the motor is attached. So the shepherds hook is secured in the ground and holds it all in place. These shepherds hooks have two spikes at the bottom.

@@stephenambrose2901 Ok.. now it makes sense! Thanks for the explanation! I looked up the shepherds hook and that's the part I was missing with it going into the ground. Thanks again. Happy Halloween!

@@CurtisGaugerThanks, by using the two prong shepherd's hook and going thru the board it keeps the motor and linkage in a fixed location. This year I replaced the wood board with a composite trim board.
