Epiphone is not the poor mans Gibson anymore. It stands very well on its own, snd have been for some time

I have an EPI "inspired by 1966" and it is very versatile and easy to play. Did not need any set up. But eventually, I will change the nut for tusq.

+Bo88y Beretta With all due respect, Epiphone is a different brand from Gibson. Though Gibson became it's parent company, Epiphone was around since the late 1800s, long before Gibson came into existence and invented their own style and headstock. Putting a Gibson headstock on a epiphone would kinda make it less of an epiphone...
Ah, I see you added it with HD, it looks great and my comment remains the same; Epiphone isn’t fucking around. Their guitars keep improving year after year and it’s awesome to see the quality increase.

Gareth Hampshire I own the les paul too! And it's not only extremely beautiful, it's also quite a big deal for the "low" price ❤
Wow Captain. Those lessons with Danish Pete are really paying off. Sounds great!

One of the best Intro jams you've ever done, keep it up guys
Could we please get a blindfold shootout between expensive Squier vs cheap Fender thinline teles?
I love the James Bay Epiphone...
That intro jam was stunning. Love your videos guys, great job, keep it up.
That intro is possibly my favourite Captian and Chappers jam ever 😂 such good vibes
That's a cool idea using the dummy coil. I think it's the first time I saw that in a new guitar, usually that's more like some diy modification stuff right

No, Fender use that concept since Samarium Cobalt Noiseless pickups.

The Epiphone Blueshawk (a semi-hollow Les Paulesque body) also uses the dummy coil idea.
that century sound with the crunch just sounds amazing, love that guitar
the beach ball at aroung 8:00 caught me off guard. That was hilarious.
Can't wait for the RD to come out!
Lovely exploration of neck and mid pick-up's, and haunting tones. Your intro was first class. The unused noise canceling pick-up is brilliant. If it will work with cheap ceramic mag's (?), it's a cost effective noise solution :) Demo much better than mostly shred notes when exploring what a guitar is capable of. This time you'all have mixed up some nice tone spread, and it was good. Need to do more of that when demoing ... I'm now in the market for a Epi 1966 re-issue and a TC pedal :)
Those are beautiful.
That could be the best looking Explorer I´ve seen.
oh boy that intro jam was breathtaking with captain's soloing and tone
The century looks lovely
I have the 1966 Century reissue and it’s sensational. Easily holds its own against anything else I own including guitars many times the price. Easy to set up, no fret buzz and a hoot to play with a load of reverb and a little gain. It’s like nothing else and inspires you to different playing styles.
Fav Cap n Chap for a while ^^ Awesome playing
Epiphones QC much better lately than Gibsons it appears
I absolutely love Chappers, but really...it's literally a signature model which IS an Epiphone Century. Like...remember the ML1 Hot Rod? I don't remember him saying, "it's a shame it only has one pickup. Would'a been nice to have the option." 😂😂😂😂😂
Wow! Captain played the first minor solo I've ever heard! Haha fuck ya go Lee!
awesome intro jam!!!
Whoever edits these videos is a genius.
WoW...liking the new Website ...cool
love the e-bay guitar ;-)
What a beautiful intro.
Love that Explorer
The Captain is really kicking it up a notch in the solo department.
aweome! what song is that in the intro? I really love that, it really sums up how I feel right now. Love your show and all the jams! Keep up the good work. Would love to meet you one day in person. Greets from Frankfurt/Germany!
Great Intro guys

I love the shit brown I have the LP awesome guitar! Epi’s have come a very long way the top end of Epiphone’s are just fabulous. Don’t hesitate to own one or three what ever it takes. And both you guys are playing much more musically lately, very nice to listen too, the constant shredding of scales gets old 👍
To this day I can't forgive myself selling my Epiphone JB Century - a superb instrument!
great opening riffage guys, I'm looking at you especially Mr anderton
Hopefully you guys do the RD!
"No money up the dusty end" innit ;^) I like the passive humbucker feature.
The Captain meets Lee Malia
Rob, just to be constructive that thing you complained about with the tuners being too close together, that's exactly how my ML-1 Pro is (the old three pickup one). Still my favorite guitar though.
opening jam was next level guys!!!!!!!
Judging by the odd occasional echoy-buzz thing in my right ear, either a microphone is damaged, the mixing is off, or I have hearing damage. And at this point, it's all very likely, but I'm going to say it's a good idea to check out Lee's mic anyways (or the room mic, or whatever audio Lee was speaking through).
I love the volleyball smack downs 🤣
You've just reviewed the signature guitar of a heavy metal (modern) metal guitarist, without playing with any really distortion. I feel like fans of this band, would have wanted to hear the guitar emulate the sounds they will want to hear the guitar make. The sounds they will probably be buying the guitar for. I loved your playing by the way, and i'm only referring to the pointy guitar. Also side note, i would love to see a demonstration/ discussion around the extremes of string gauge many guitarists use for similar tuning for example Lee Malia uses a 70 when tuned to A , and he uses classic Gibson scale length. I've also heard many other guitarist refer to having to use "extremely heavy" strings for similar tuning on "extended scale" guitars, and then they show you their 25.5 scale PRS with a standard set of 11s on it. This second example is Mark Holcomb of Periphery. Not to mention standard E players with 12s.
Epiphone have really been extremely impressive lately!
now do a sounds like james bay without busting the bank
That beach ball is awsum!!..lolol
god damn, that explorer is beautiful
The Century suits Lee but Rob's noodling on it depressed me. I own this one and it's a great guitar, fantastic vibe to it

@brndgtl

Kev Glover so far so good. The neck isn’t as wide as I like usually so it took some getting used to but it’s a great guitar. It’s unlike anything else I own
Which reverb pedal do you use on the James Bay guitar in this video? Thank you for your response.
Answer on the wooden bridge I own two guitars with floatin archtop bridge and one is 45 years old the other one 20. I changed by my own taste the second one bridge from rosewood to ebony but both of them have the initial one.And by any means an archtop bridge does not cost even remotely as much as any other bridge than acoustic guitars
Never saw myself playing an explorer before. And then there was... youuuuu...
Best jam yet, too short
That Explorer is ridiculously sweet.
What chords is Rob playing in the beginning?
i enjoy the satirical contrast between using the heavy metal guitar for clean tones and using the kinda jazzy, roots rock guitar for dirty tones at the beginning
Kinman pickups are glorious.
What a beautiful Explorer,....the shape is just one sexy thing!
I can’t wait for the rd so I play some ghost tunes
if i'm not mistaken, i just witnessed hammer tapping during a blues jam
Holy crap that's the first Explorer I've ever actually wanted

what reverb pedal is this? very nice
I cringed so hard when rob started tapping on the century
I lost it at "Cavity..."!
the jama at the beginning of this song has to be made into a song and put on a Rob Chapman Or Lee solo or collaboration CD. it was great.
OMG I have to find a way to get money for when the RD releases.

So yeah i want a century now
Anyone know what stool the guys are using?
The standard Epiphone Century is an absolutely superb guitar. It sounds and feels amazing, and even works for shoegaze and stoner rock! I'm not even kidding!
Was that a song at the beginning or just a jam?
"United Kingdom of Kingdoms" - Cap'n 1984
This chanel needs more pointy guitars😊
Am I the only one who caught the reference to “The Wind in the Willows”? Poop-poop Mr Toad. Lol
I played one of those centuries the other day and almost bought it. I hate that style of guitar though. But no denying it played great.
Can you plehs allow Sir Joss the Shreddinator to bring his horizon to the tastey brown beastie in one of his videos?
rob at 4:30 playing please please please let me get what iw ant by the smiths, nice!
That was the sexiest intro I have ever heard
Can anyone tell me the name of those inlays?
No bmth riffs :( I love malia's signature guitar tho
Apart from the obvious differences (case, case candy, noiseless pickup), should I expect better quality workmanship (such as better fretwork and finishing) on the James Bay model than on the regular "inspired by 1966 century"?
7:56 careful lee that ball was flying towards your face at a high velocity ;)
Say what you want about gibson vs epi but the truth is that at a certain pricepoint ( unless you go above 2k or custom shop stuff ) it's pretty much the same quality wood .. yes you could get prettier ones or different pickups but the player is much more important than the guitar .. how you play it and finger tone is A LOT of the tone as well
Problem with these a-symmetrical bodies; you can''t put them standing on the floor

Captain, do an episode on guitar price alterations through the year. I bought an Epiphone Explorer 1984 Reissue for £400, now it's £600 and out of stock. I bought an Epiphone Les Paul Prophecy in Sapphire 4 weeks ago for £550, now it's £680. Why?
@sambriggs93

I think october/november is the start of a new fiscal year, so prices probably increased across the board

sambriggs93 plus the cost of materials going to could also be the reason
Is it just me, or does the century suit Lee down to the ground. 😂
The Captain's lessons are paying dividends. Wow.
Always forget that Lee must be loaded haha! Porsche 911 jeeez
Didn't get a sounds like Type O Negative for Halloween😭
Well, the Bridge pickup is not signature one. It's a reproduction of Kramer pup of the late 80s. Kramer id part of Gibson brands.
I don't know if it's just me, but I can rarely tell the difference in humbucker guitars when Rob is playing them... maybe it's the style of drive he uses
I do Believe Lee Malia is From Sheffield way on
Noted legend Tommy Tedesco used to say there's no money above the fifth fret.
Captain you sound cool on that ax. Chaps always great.
Looks like a Ghost Fret ready for a job interview...
I came here expecting the lee malia RD
